NYC cosmetics PART 2 in review

Well here we are and its Monday and what song always comes to mind? the famous 1986 tune "Manic Monday" by the Bangles http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAZgLcK5LzI go have a listen if you like.

So to follow up from yesterday we were taking a look at NYC nail polishes and now we will take a tour of some other goodies.

Starting with smooth skin perfecting primer in shade 684. Now I had big hopes for this product, but even though it makes a nice luminous base coat on your face I noticed sometimes it gets bally on the skin and for me it didn't work out as it started to make me break out. I feel its just because there is a lot of different oils in the ingredient content. I suppose you can't expect to much from a $4 (30ml/1 fl oz) primer.

Now this next item I consider to be a great product for how inexpensive it is and it is a staple in my makeup kit. It is the Smooth Skin loose face powder in 741A Translucent.
This powder comes in a generous 0.7oz/20.0g container for about $3 or less. However upon checking on the NYC website I do not see it. I now wondering if it has been discontinued in Canada/U.S. I did find it on the NYC site for the U.K though. That's weird?!?!

That will be a shame if this is not readily available anymore....*SIGH*

This next product has had a bit of a face lift since I bought mine, but NYC does still offer these. It is the "Metro Quartet" eye shadows. I have 2 of these one is 816A Chelsea Chic and the other is "SandBar". I do see similar colours still offered just paired up differently. These are very small palettes at 3.4g/0.12oz are about $4. The colours are quite pigmented and in the past I often was reaching for SandBar as it has nice rich tones that compliment most skin tones. Again with most eye shadows you will notice some fall out, but we shouldn't take these things so seriously.
                                                                      "SANDBAR"

"CHELSEA CHIC"

Now lets get cheeky and talk about NYC cheek glow 652 WEST SIDE WINE. This is a stunning colour that is not to crazy and does what a blush should do accent your features not make you look like "Dear Aunt Agnes". There is nothing I hate more then ugly blush and yes I do believe there is such a thing, I also LOATH when people over do it or choose to wear the wrong colour for their skin tone. That is one area A LOT of people make BIG mistakes. I truly understand that everything is perfected with time and practice but until then take it easy with the heavy handed blush brush.

If used properly this large pan of blush should last you for a very long time. 0.28oz/8.1g for about $3 what a bargain.
I should also add this is a matte blush, even though in the pan it shows a very very tiny sparkle this is not visible upon application.

Here we are it always comes down to the lips and often my favorite products to talk about.
I'll start with the actual lipstick which is ULTRA LAST LIPWEAR #420 in the shade MOUSSE.
I find this has a terracotta undertone and wasn't as light as I was hoping, but I usually apply then blot so the colour is not so intense. Some times I like bold lip colour but not with this. It is very smooth but I did not feel it lasted any longer then any other lip colours I have. 3.4g for $2.
In the picture this looks so much more nude which I would have preferred but it is a lot darker in person.

Then the other day I decided to try out the new "8 HOUR CITY PROOF" lip gloss and thought I would be daring and get the colour 454 "ROUND THE CLOCK RUBY" holy smokes is this a super shiny deep garnet red and you don't need to use a lot. With this item I think if applied to heavily it can look pretty trashy, so I again apply and blot. It might be ok for a night out at a club, but is certainly not something I would wear daily especially if applied full throttle. I guess it just depends on what you prefer. This gloss does leave a nice stain affect behind after it has worn off which looks very nice. 6.6ml for $4

To round off this review I saved my favorites for last. They are the "BIG BOLD PLUMPING" lip gloss. I purchased 3 in the colours VOLUMINOUS PEACH, BIG CITY BLUSH & CORAL TO THE MAX. All of these glosses are gorgeous and I plan to buy more of them. They come is a big fat tube and a big applicator and its so smooth and never sticky. You feel a tingle on your lips and they have a very unique smell like some kind of candy. I LOVE these glosses. If your on a budget and can't afford a lot of cosmetics then do yourself a favour get one of these. They are $4 for tons of product and they won't disappoint. With how chunky the tubes are you'll always be able to find them in those gigantic bottomless pit handbags that so many people love to carry and destroy their backs in the process (I'm just sayin) OH FOR THE LOVE OF FASHION.

OH and real quick on a side note I just got as we speak another Nail Polish from the long wear line it totally reminds me of "Fly Eyes" its 145 ROCK THE PARTY
Love my $1.27 polishes
