NEW TO MAKEUP'ASYLUM LETS TALK TEA/COFFEE FEATURING TEALISH

NOW OPEN, COME ON IN....

So the purpose of this area of my blog is to cover my other passion which is Tea & Coffee, as well as giving all of you an opportunity to get to know me better. I will cover various brands of tea and coffee and share my discoveries with you all. Toward the end of each post I will offer up a tidbit of information about myself or you are welcome to ask a question in the comments that I may answer within the post or in a future post. All questions will be considered, but some things I will NOT answer due to privacy issues.

So moving along today I wanted to share with you a tea company located in the heart of downtown Toronto called TEALISH

I was gifted some of their tea over the holidays from another Toronto based company I have reviewed on my beauty blog. They are Bare English & Co. which specialize in unique tea infused, vegan/organic lip balms, they have become my holy grail go to lip product, a must try.

So back to the tea, here is a little back story about Tealish. They are a hip modern tea shop that was introduced in 2005. The idea was to better inform consumers about tea and bring new life to the ideals of tea drinking. Taking what at one time may have seemed boring to now blissful new heights. Tealish offers amazing premium loose leaf tea in a wide range of flavours, textures, colours and aromas. It will truly awaken your senses, allowing you to start thinking outside the mundane tea box.
You will be greeted by a wall of a fine assortment of teas for all tastes and likings. For me personally I love dessert type black tea, but through drinking loose tea have discovered many others I would other wise not realized I would come to love.
If you happen to stop in at Tealish you can check out their entirely tea based menu and even try samples on hand. Also be sure to pick up some teaware for new beginnings in tea drinking or if you just want to add to your existing collection for those that are more seasoned tea drinkers.

Check out the teas that I have been sipping

CHOCOLATE MINT ROOIBOS

Image used from the Tealish website as I no longer have the bag that my tea came in

Chocolate Mint- Is a clean but rich Rooibos base tea, with delicious sweet tart apple pieces and orange peel mingling with the real stars of the show the warm chocolate essences followed with a big burst of mint for the perfect winter pairing.

Did you know that Rooibos is naturally caffeine free, so drink it up and no worries of it keeping you up.

A beautiful amber coloured liquid that is easy drinking
I like this tea with steamed milk and agave nectar, or sugar if you prefer. I also have had this with whip cream which makes it a perfect adult version of a mint hot chocolate.

COCONUT BONGO

Need an escape from the cold weather we are surround by then reach for a hot cup of tropical goodness. This tea is Oolong based that has been lightly oxidized, which takes on a beautiful creaminess and mix that with the natural sweetness of coconut, its a match made in a tropical paradise. There are also gentle notes of orchid playing along side the coconut as well to further the exotic experience. This tea will not disappoint. Coconut Bongo can easily be drank just on its own, but you can add what you like to it. Again I have added whip cream which really makes this tea ultimate like a cup of coconut cream pie, but without the guilt.

Each tea leaf unfolds once steeped and you can see the beautiful delicate leaves in their full form

Oolong tea is a very mellow looking, delicate, translucent liquid similar to the colour of a good chardonnay. However this is big on flavour.

Be sure to ease your self into drinking Oolong tea as it is a natural laxative, trust me I know from experience when I first discovered Oolong last year. That's a whole other story I will share if you like at a later time;P At least I can laugh about it now.

POMEGRANATE GOJI

An amazing sparkling infusion of juicy goji and cranberries. This tea is crisp and refreshing and leaves a clean feeling on the palate. The base is green (sencha) tea which there is a multitude of health benefits just from that alone such. Here are a couple of my favourites "Improving brain function", aids in "weight loss" by boosting the bodies ability to burn off fat and increase your metabolism. Green tea can also kill harmful bacteria in the mouth and make you less prone to getting flu's and needing frequent trips to the dentist.
Also who doesn't love anything chalked full of antioxidant superfoods.
I think this will make for a wonderful summer time iced tea and look forward to trying it out.

This particular tea is also a visual treat with all the gorgeous colours melding together in perfect tea harmony.

Green tea can range from mild yellow to a deeper green depending on the leaves and processing and aging, as well as drying methods.

So that concludes my first post on Tea featuring the company Tealish, so check them out on location at 728 Queen St W. or if your too far away check them out on line. Link is at the top of the page.

The small white bowls featured in the first two teas were purchased along time ago from Benix and they are by Henri Phillipe. The traditional Japanese tea bowl with flowers on it was brought back from Japan, by a friends mother who gave it to me.

As a pairing while enjoying your tea may I recommend some sipping music. One of my favourite cd's is Diana Krall "When I Look in your eyes" great jazz music.

Tidbit about me- I have worked in several music stores in the past and have an extensive background and knowledge of music and many genres.

THANKS EVERYONE FOR SUPPORTING MAKEUP'ASYLUM AND ALLOWING ME TO GROW NOT ONLY AS A BLOG, BUT AS A BRAND TOO.

  1. I enjoy a good cup of tea and these sound delightful. I will admit that I tend to be a simplest when it comes to tea as grabbing a simple plain green tea is too easy. But I enjoy other flavors and should drink them more often. Thanks so much for sharing this with us. You've inspired me to get out of my rut. (◕‿◕✿)
