Hi Everyone,
Its been a bit since my last post and today I bring you a newly discovered line that I am excited to talk about. This line is called Province Apothecary and the company is located here in the heart of Toronto. The owner Julie has a range of about 20 products that are handcrafted in small batches to ensure potency and freshness. The ingredients for this line are locally sourced and are considered aromatherapy, organic and 100% natural, Vegan, NO GMO and cruelty free:)
Here is some further info about what you can expect from PROVINCE APOTHECARY
"We believe that a unique blends of plant-based, food-grade, synthetic-free ingredients will balance your skin, reduce fine lines and give you a radiant + vibrant complexion. The skin is the largest organ of the body which absorbs nutrients and eliminates waste material. It is important to be aware of the substances we out on our skin. Never apply anything on to your skin that you would NOT eat.
Synthetic ingredients can be carcinogenic and can cause premature aging by breaking down collagen, dehydrating the skin, clogging pores and changing the PH of the skin. All of our products are free of Petroleum, Synthetic fragrances, preservatives, chemicals (ex, sls), dyes, persticides and GMO's."
So how did Province Apothecary come to be? Here is a back story on that. Province Apothecary was founded in 2012 by Julie Clark. Julie is a holistic health practitioner and aromatherapist based in Toronto. Since her childhood Julie suffered from serve allergies and eczema and so she began the journey of making her own skincare products because sadly in such a huge world as cosmetics and skincare Julie found nothing that could help heal her sensitive skin and so through a labour of love and for her own peace of mind Province Apothecary was born.
So after communications with Julie she was kind enough to send me not one, but two items from her lovely collection and that's what we are going to look at today.
The first item I knew I had to test out was the CLEAR SKIN WITH LAVENDER & IMMORTELLE. So for those that don't know Immortelle or also known as everlasting or strawflower is a botanical which its scientific name is Helichrysum angustifolium.
However what does it do you ask???
Immortelle is very commonly known and grown throughout countries in the Mediterranean, the distilled oil from this flower is very potent and has a very deep rich, earthy tone. The oil from Immortelle is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, as well as helping mature skin to regenerate and can also help with pain. Till now I was not familiar with this oil or flower for that matter. What an exciting new discovery.
Here is a pic of the actual flower
Now on to the product it self
This cleanser helps skin stay nourished, balanced. and healthy."

Now on to the product it self
There is an ever so slight blueish sheen to this oil I am assuming from the Lavender
So this CLEAR SKIN oil is suppose to do just that, heal blemishes and reduce an existing scarring. The statement holds true that you literally only need one drop. I made the error the first night I tried it of pouring way to much in my hand. It is a very heady scent that takes some getting use to. However what I can tell you is this really does work. I actually had quite the pimple on my chin and I applied a dab of this before going to bed, it absorbed fairly quick into the skin and for me personally it worked. I woke up the next morning and the pimple had dried up quite a bit and shrunk significantly and upon doing about two more nights of this it was pretty much gone. So even though this is potent to smell the results wouldn't stop me from using it. One thing I would like to see in the future is maybe a dropper style bottle for this product because this type of bottle could result in to much product flowing out.
I love that all the products are beautifully stored in gorgeous cobalt blue bottles, not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but it helps to preserve the quality of the oil inside, so it's not being damaged by the light.
This product is 3ml/$30
Moving on the other item I received was the MOISTURIZING CLEANSER + MAKE-UP REMOVER. This product is made with Avocado & Raspberry and helps clear congestion from the skin and pores as well as rejuvenate the skin overall.
Here are some further details about this facial oil/cleanser from Province Apothecary's website
"These hydrating oils remove make up & excess oil; restoring your skin’s natural radiance. Gently cleanses without drying out your skin or destroying it’s natural pH.
Raspberry oil stimulates cell turn over; rejuvenating skin. Bergamot clears congestion while frankincense tones the skin. Lavender heals blemishes and restores the skin. This cleanser helps skin stay nourished, balanced. and healthy."
Directions: Use nightly to remove make-up and dirt. Warm oil in your palm. Massage into face and neck in a circular motion. Rinse thoroughly with a damp face cloth. For best results, follow with Province Apothecary Toner.
So I have found that I can use this, but I have to alternate nights as it is very emollient and made up of about a dozen different oils that may be a bit to rich for my already very oily skin. I do understand the concept of fighting oil with oil, but that does not work for every single individual who has oily/acne prone skin. Don't get me wrong I really like this product and think it does do a great job getting my makeup off. It is essential to follow the instruction for best results. I love that the bottle has a pump dispenser for ease of use, also the scent is clean, and has that herbal natural smell to it, which for me I love because I know what I am putting on my skin.
There are two sizes 30ml/$16 (this is the size I received)
or
120ml/$42 (which is definitely the more cost effective option)
I recommend buying the 30ml first to ensure this product is right for you and then purchase the larger size and you'll be set for quite a while. I find I only need a pump and a half to clean my whole face.
Here is also the pamphlet I was sent of the other items available from Province Apothecary

ReplyDeletewow this sounds great! I am not big on having a makeup remover as I mostly use olive oil to to the trick, but that clear skin oil sounds awesome! I love that little flower, maybe I can look as beautiful as that flower hehe:) great post my love!!
ReplyDeleteThese sound lovely and the packaging is really nice. I am such a fan of incorporating oils into my beauty routine, so I would definitely try both of these. Thanks for sharing!

Great read as always! I've never tried to combat my oily skin with oil based products - I think I'll give it a shot.
