MONOPOLY JUNIOR COURTESY OF INFLUENSTER

Hi everyone,

So as I have not been posting as often it has given me sometime to figure out what I want to do with my blog. I have decided to transition from just strictly makeup to a FAMILY LIFESTYLE blog. In doing so I hope to attract the attention of a wider audience, that will follow me and my family with our favorite things that we see, taste, purchase, watch, play, and wear.

So with that my kiddo and I were one of the families chosen by Influenster Canada to test out and review the Monopoly Junior game from Hasbro.

Did you know that Hasbro has been around for 75 years bringing fun and exciting board games to families all over the world. As well as educating children with games that can teach counting, reading and the important lesson of  learning to accept when you don't win at something.

MONOPOLY JUNIOR
AGE 5+
2-4 PLAYERS

Here is what you get out of the box

1-GAME BOARD

90- $1 BILLS ONLY

20 CHANCE CARDS AND CHARACTER CARDS

48 SOLD SIGNS

4 JUNIOR TOKENS
(YOUR FAVORITE CLASSIC TOKENS BEFORE THEY GREW UP)
AND 1 DICE

As with any Monopoly game you still will see the standard spaces on the board such as Go, Chance, GO to Jail, Just Visiting and Free Parking.
However the game play is fairly quick in this child friendly version and simple to learn. If you are playing with 4 people each person gets $16, 3 players will get $18 and 2 Player which is what we did get $20 each at the start of the game. When you land on a property if it's not already owned you MUST buy it. This is a good game for emerging readers because your child can read each space they land on as well as any chance cards they pick up. If someone else owns the space you land on pay them rent or perhaps they own both properties of the same colour  you will have to pay them double the rent. Don't worry game play is simple because the most you would ever have to pay at one time is $10 which also is a great opportunity for children to fine tune their counting and quick adding skills.
Another fun feature is the cute Token's which are a Tugboat, Cat, Dog and Car, but have a larger size which is easier to move for smaller hands.
Overall I am pleased with this game and find it a lot of fun for both children and their parents.

Also it doesn't just matter what I think, let's see what my boy and partner in crime thinks from his 7 year old perspective.

Quoted from my child

"I love this game, it's fun and easy to understand and I can't wait to play it again,  it also doesn't take a really long time to play the whole game. I would not change anything about this game so far."

So there you have it, If your looking for something fun to put under the tree this holiday season check out Monopoly Junior and it's more affordable then a video game.

Let's get back to family time around the table, face to face, playing an iconic game like Monopoly. Get our children up and away from the t.v, tablets and video game systems. Remember time with you children playing, communicating and engaging is essential to strong life skills and a deeper respect for you as a parent.

  1. WAIT WAIT WAIT. You're coming back to blogging?! *happy dance*

How cool! I did not know that there was a kid-friendly Monopoly game - I love it! Everyone knows Monopoly is such a looooong game, but it's cool how they made a speedster version that'll help kids with skills along the way. :)

    Glad to see you're back ! ;)
