STILA "MEG" LIPSTICK FROM NUDE INTERLUDE COLLECTION

Hi everyone & Happy Friday,

I have a busy day a head of me, but Friday's always seem to be that way around here.

Stila introduced the Nude Interlude Collection for Spring'15 to add to their already existing color balm line. These lip products can have the opacity of a lipstick, but feel like a balm on the lips. The color I chose was Meg, which is the lightest of all three nudes available.

So for me this was a blind buy as I did not physically see the lipstick in person. I had seen it on the well.ca website and then did some research and read some fairly positive reviews. So I decided to take the plunge and purchase "BIG MISTAKE!"

I will start by saying that I love the vanilla/mint scent/taste of these balm lipsticks and they do feel creamy when applying. Also I think the packaging is quite pretty with the silver and rose gold bullet. I find you do have to be careful putting the cap on as it's to close to the lipstick and can take a bit off if your not careful. However I find for the price the opacity is not great and maybe it just happens to be this colour because it is so light. I find it applies streaky and I don't get the coverage I prefer, even from a nude shade. Take Milani color statement lipsticks for example they have some very light nudes, but you still get the coverage with few passes over the lips.
Also because this is a balm lipstick it melts into the lips easily and therefore your applying a lot each time to build the color and often as it also has very minimal staying power. I find the several times I  have wore this balm lipstick I noticed how short the lipstick it self is already, it will probably be gone in no time. 
Another thing is the colour swatched on my hand does not exactly transfer to the lips in the same colour. I find it looks way lighter on the lips, which you will see in a moment. 

I guess over all I am not impressed with this product for how much it cost and I definitely have buyers remorse. I think to myself, I could have bought 3 or 4 drugstore lipsticks for that price, with better coverage and wear time *SIGH* 

I don't like having to give such a negative review and I really wanted to love this lippy. If you the reader are maybe a person on a budget, such as myself, but want to treat yourself to one high end lipstick, I want you to make a sound choice and this would not be it. Your money is better spent elsewhere or saved in your wallet for that matter.

It's never a good thing when my very first experience with a brand and a high end one at that is not good, because I am less inclined to try anything else in the future.

I have some exciting new products in review today for you that were sent over to me from Physicians Formula. I am always happy to review this product line as it is by far one of my favourite brands all around. Every time I wear makeup it includes at least 1-2 items from Physicians Formula. 

So today I have several new products for 2015 to share and I hope you see something you may want try. All though PF is a more expensive brand at drugstore level just remember that often times they have promos for 30-40% off if you check your local flyers within Canada. Also you get what you pay for. I feel PF does not cut any corners and always have beautiful packaging and their powders always have the nicest embossed designs similar to those of some high end luxury brands.

This is the first ever beauty balm for cheeks and lips. It offers good for the skin benefits such as vitamin e, white willow bark extract, encapsulated glycerin, perilla ocymoides (Beefsteak plant) fruit extract and luxsil (hollow air filled cosmetic microspheres) which give the product a soft focus effect when applied to the skin. 

I like this product because its very natural looking and my husband felt on the lips it looked really good, creating an over all healthy natural glow. It blends super easy and of course who doesn't love the uber cute spherical packing. I like dual purpose products they are always handy for busy moms like me. When your on the go and don`t want to haul around a bunch of stuff in a big useless purse just pop this in your coat pocket. 

On a side note overly large handbags are known to destroy your back, posture and center of gravity. So if you don`t have to carry one try to avoid it as much as possible.

The beauty balm stick is the first of its kind offering up multi-tasking skin perfection. SHIMMER STRIPS CUSTOM EYE ENHANCING EXTREME SHIMMER EYELINER TRIO

The new eye liner trios offer up some serious pigment and instant glam to any eye look. The trio I received is the Nude which includes Natural (champagne), Playful (pewter), dramatic (black). I am in love with these colours and even though they do amp up an eye look they are very wearable anytime day or night without being to "in your face". These liners glide across the eye with no problem, just don't press to hard as they are quite a soft formulation and the tip will break. The other huge plus for me is that they are a shelf sharpening product which I really do like. Also no harsh ingredients to irritate those pretty eyes.

This is the type of liner you could easily smudge out along the lash line add a dash of mascara and be done with an eye look in under 5 minutes. The swatches I did show just how stunning these colours are, a must try.

The last two products are from the brand new ARGAN WEAR line and I am in love.

I have read several reviews stating that the argan scent is quite strong and it is! but it does settle down upon application, but does linger around, so just be aware before you purchase it if a heady scent is not for you. 

ARGAN WEAR ULTRA NOURISHING ARGAN OIL BLUSH

I just think this blush is so beautiful to look at that I haven't brought myself to dust my brush in it quite yet. I tested a small bit on the back of my hand. I noticed right away that this blush has a super smooth, light weight, velvety texture to it. 

I received the colour natural, which i prefer because I don't like to rich of a blush colour for myself as I have areas that are damaged from acne scarring. I often feel blush in general tends to emphasis those marks and its not cute.

This bb cream does something really lovely to the skin, giving that kissed from within glow that I personally think looks fantastic. This can be especially helpful for aging skin, sallow or tired looking skin. It gives the skin an instant rejuvenation. It evens out the skin tone and smoothes the surface and mellows redness nicely.  

Obviously a huge benefit is the 100% argan oil that will moisturize dull/dry skin which is a handy helper right now during these winter months when the air is extremely cold and dry. 

If your worried that the argan oil will make the skin feel greasy, it absolutely does not. I have extremely oily skin and if anything it seems to be balancing that out. In some cases you can fight oil with oil and this is one to try. You may have to powder your t-zone mid day, but over all the complexion looks awesome.

Again gentle, non-comedogenic, non-irritating, won't clog pores and this bb cream is ideal for even the most sensitive skin types.

I love all the products however this new Argan Wear bb cream is my fave item of them all. I really like the Super BB cheek & lip balm, it left nice sheer colour on the lip, but is perhaps better used on the cheeks. I am going to use it on my lips again, but may add some clear gloss on top just to amp up the moisture a bit more as my lips get super dry very easily as a result of a medication I use to take.

First up the Aqua lip 10C Matte Raspberry

I not only love this colour, but this is my first time trying a Make Up For Ever lip liner and it's amazing. Applies like a breeze, with no drag and very precise application. This lip pencil stays on FOR EVER and I mean FOR EVER, you want a lip pencil that will last all day and all night, then go get you some of this, it will not disappoint. Just be aware that removal can take some time, I am in shock how this will not budge. The only thing I would change is I would love to see these pencils in a self sharpening format which is always ideal. Then again what I have noticed with shelf sharpening pencils they tend to dry out quicker due to them being housed in plastic in most cases and air getting in around the product. Where as the wood surrounding the product actually helps to retain its moisture better till it's time to sharpen it.

AQUA ROUGE 50 (NEW SHADE) CLEAR

This colour is absolutely everything, I think it is actually perfect and creates such a luscious lip look, that makes the lips seem even more kissably hot. Every woman needs this in her life because it wears for an outrageous amount of time and you can kiss your lover and it won't smear all over them, well unless you want it to;)

I have reviewed the Aqua Rouge before and it is a really remarkable lip product and so good in fact you can even go for a late night romantic jaunt in the pool or the ocean if you will and it won't come off. 

LAB SHINE LIP GLOSS D4 GRENADINE

For those of you that have read the Fifty Shades trilogy then you know why I opted to do a lip biting photo. The grenadine lab shine gloss is so pretty and really steps up the overall lip look. This gloss feels comfortable on the lip with a mild tackiness that helps hold it in place. For a lip gloss to last it does have to have a bit of that sticky feeling or you would be reapplying every hour. I love the smell of this product as well. If you gravitate to gloss with a lot of glitter then this will work well for you. However the glitter particles are not huge and obnoxious they really make the lips look shiny or wet in effect and very juicy.

The plus with a nice shiny gloss is it really helps make lips look fuller if that is something you struggle with, especially paired with that lusty berry red lip.

Overall I am really enjoying this set and it's versatile uses. The products can all be used individually or all mixed together. Its a great set for throwing in your makeup bag because it covers it all. Also the packaging is soft and flirty

MAKE UP FOR EVER HD PRIMER IN CARAMEL

Since the Make Up For Ever family is greatly expanding now is the time to revisit the product that got it all started. That is MUFE HD MICROPERFECTING PRIMER. I have for review today #4 Caramel (which adds a warm glow to deeper skin tones).  I have to add that right now this is not the best time to try this product as my skin is not tanned yet, however I imagine the shade will be much more suited come mid summer when my skin tone has warmed up a lot more, but for testing purposes I have used it.

So what does Make Up For Ever promise from their HD Primer, well here are the details

"The light, oil-free formula of the HD microperfecting primer acts as a preperation product that createsa protective film on the skin's surface and operates as a shield, preventing the foundation from penetrating the skin. It is dermatologist tested to be safe for all skin types, it also helps to stablize foundation to be more long-lasting and more evenly applied.

The purpose of the primer is to create a more soft focus effect to the complexion. Formulated with silica micro beads that are engineered to act as minuscule light refractorsm these beads refract both man-made and natural light to veil imperfections. Nourishing ingredients act as moisturizers to protect skin from dryness, providing a well balanced canvas for your foundation.

As you can see this is to dark and even once blended it leaves that orange tint around the edges where the rest of my hand is light. 

I have actually tried it on my face and I have mixed emotions about this product. I feel it seems a little tacky upon application and then drys to a smooth finish. For me personally because I have a lot of skin problems I don't feel it blurs my imperfections, but does smooth out the surface of my skin better prior to my foundation. I also I don't like that it tends to be a fragrant product, which is not great for sensitive skin.

I do like that its very light weight on the skin with that barely there feeling and it really is not greasy at all, as it claims state.

I find the consistency of this primer very different compared to other's I have tried.

I will have to follow up at a later time once I am able to use it more in the summer and see how it holds up to intense heat and sweating.

There are currently 7 primer options available from Make Up For Ever this one included the other 6 are 

0 Neutral - A translucent base for all complexions

1 Green- To counteract redness

2 Mauve- Neutralize strong olive undertones

5 blue- Gives a porcelain finish to fair skin

6 Yellow- Adds golden tones to dark complexions

The way you are suppose to apply the HD Microperfecting Primer is dab lightly with fingertips, or use a sponge in a downward motion

REVLON LIP BUTTER 030 FIG JAM

Normally I don't tend to gravitate to shades that are some what to the brown side, however I had read and heard good things about this particular colour and kept looking at it in the store, so I caved and bought it finally. Also I love the lip butters because they moisturize well and the darker shades have good colour payoff.

L'OREAL COLOUR RICHE BALM 318 HEAVENLY BERRY

I am somewhat disappointed with the colour payoff of this, even if its sheer it can still be pigmented and this just really isn't great. I have previously loved "Nourishing Nude" from this same line, but this isn't doing it for me, especially at $9 CAD a pop.

 In the tube this looks very promising

not so  much once swatched

Its to bad because as I said I do like these normally and they feel very nourishing on the lips. If nothing else I just have a nice lip balm here :P

Last up I saved the big winner for the end.

I was at my newly opened Target location and of course was into the makeup. I decided to try out the

SONIA KASHUK SATIN LUXE LIP COLOUR 93 CLASSIC RED 

The first thing that caught my attention is the sturdy high end looking modern tube with Sonia's name down one side of it. I like that there is a block of colour at the bottom to give you some idea what your in store for. I would say in this case the colour offered on the outside is true to the colour of the product itself. Once I got it home and opened it I was very pleased as it has a lovely gentle vanilla scent and the colour is sinfully perfect, lets take a look

This is the first real true red lipstick I have purchased in a long time and I am loving it. Its smooth and silky and very intense pigment and the scent is great. The only thing I have noticed is for some reason as I am wearing it after a while it feels like my lips are getting a bit dry, but your experience may be total different with it. I will just add a dab of clear gloss if needed.

I will definitely be picking up a few more of these lipsticks in the near future.

APPLELISCIOUS GLOSSY LIP BALMS BY NEW YORK COLOUR

Hello everybody,

Just a quick one today. Quite some time ago at my local Shoppers Drug Mart they were offering a double pack of the NYC Appleliscious glossy lip balms, the colours varied. So the duo I picked up is 354 APPLE BLOSSOM & 350 BLUSHING GOLDEN.

Apple Blossom is a pretty subtle berry tone glossy lip balm that adds just a hint of colour and a sweet taste on the lips

I have to admit I am really impressed with Blushing Golden, it is a very nice nude champagne colour that is actually quite pigmented and again has that same apple tang taste.

They are fairly moisturizing, but not incredibly long lasting.

I feel this was a good buy, you get 3.5g of product per tube and the double pack was only $2.50

The tubes are nice and chunky and I do like the apple detailing within the gloss balm itself.

I think they are a nice little extra to give to mom or a girlfriend on Valentines Day.

FIRST IMPRESSION KORRES RICE AND OLIVE OIL COMPACT POWDER

KORRES COMPACT POWDER

Even though I bought this before Christmas I sadly have had little time to really test it out to its full potential. These are just my initial thoughts .

I happened upon this item at Winners and felt it was worth grabbing because it was only $7. If your familiar with Korres products then you know they tend to fall under the high end spectrum of the cosmetic and skincare world.

I really think the compact was a big selling point for me its well made and very clean and modern looking. Also it just happened with the few that were there this was the perfect colour for me.

As you can see it comes with a square sponge applicator that has a white leatherette look and feel on the one side. Apparently this product is intended for normal/dry skin so we will see how this plays out on my oily skin (oops missed that memo)

This powder is velvety smooth, finely milled and is coated in a rich botanical blend that is suppose to be emollient to the skin.

Korres compact powder is dermatologist tested and free from mineral oil, propylene glycol and ethanolamine which I can't even pronounce, so should we really be putting those things on our skin any way???? probably not!

I do smell the essence of olive oil in this product, but its very mild, I just have a very sensitive nose. Also there is rice starch in it which I imagine helps to absorb some of the excess oil.

I think this product will be great as a finishing powder to complete and set your makeup. I will try to update later once I have actually used it for a while to see how it stacks up to less expensive compact powders and if Korres is worth the hype and price.

So first off I don't know what it is but I feel grit in this foundation, I have also noticed this with Physicians Formula BB cream and I am not sure what this is, but is disappears as you blend it out. The colour I picked is a little to light for me, but I am making it work. I feel the coverage is moderate  and upon dry down it does take on a nice light weight feeling which I like. I find it works well for my oily skin, but I still get shine no matter what product I use. Also there is no smell which is nice because a product does not have to be over dosed with scent to be decent. However since recently purchasing Estée Lauders double wear foundation I have not been reaching for any other foundations. So this in essence has gotten cast to the way side.

So here is what I don't like. The design on the bottle is nice, but the bottle itself is very cheap feeling and the pump is a nightmare, it has been clogged since day 2 of owning this product. So I have resorted to taking the pump out and pouring a bit in my hand, not to happy with that. Also if you do really vigorous work with this foundation on it will run. I did a bunch of cleaning and was sweating and it was running down my face.

Also there are only 8 shades options in this line Porcelain being the very lightest and Medium Tan being the most darkest shade. Sadly I think the range is very limited because there is really nothing here suitable for our ladies of colour.

ALL GLOSSED UP HYDRATING LIP STAIN- FAIR LADY (NEW COLOUR)

The all glossed up lip stains have been out for quite a while now, but there are three new colour offerings such as the one I am showing today. There is also Tickled Pink and Sand Castle. Fair Lady is a very sheer wash of colour across my lips and it doesn't stay on incredibly long like other balm stains in my ever growing collection. I find if your looking for a balm stain that makes it look like your lips, but better then this might be the product for you. All glossed up does glide on fairly smooth, and they are hydrating, but in a different way from other balms I have used, they feel more creamy and less slippery.

I personally would not repurchase this item as the colour payoff is just a tad to gentle for me, but I do like the shine it imparts on my lips.

OMBRE LIPSTICK- COURAGEOUS

I really like the concept behind this idea, basically a two shades in one lipstick the is darker around the edge and fades to a light shade towards the middle of the lips. However I don't like the squared shape and you do have to be conscious of flipping the lipstick over before applying to the bottom lip or you will have the dark shade in the center of your bottom lip and lining the top lip, if that makes sense.

 There are 10 amazing richly pigmented colours to choose from in this collection, with a little something for everyone.

The formula glides across the lips easily and there is a fine sparkle in it, but you do not feel it on the lips, it just adds nice dimension and shine.

The only drawback with this product is the amount you get for $6 is quite displeasing, you can buy other name brand lipsticks that are easily 4g and cost the same and work just as well. Thank goodness my collection is big enough I don't use the same lipstick everyday other wise you would fly through this one in little to no time. So just be more aware to look at these things when purchasing new products, amounts are getting smaller and prices are getting higher. Lovely product no less.

EYES THE LIMIT- EYE SHADOW PRIMER

I am really enjoying this eyeshadow primer it is long lasting and does increase the vibrancy of my eyeshdaows that I have used with it so far. I don't notice any creasing either which is a plus, because not all eye shadow primer is created equal.

I think that you get a very generous amount for the price and it will last quite a while because you need very little to accomplish the task. This primer has a flesh tone colour to it, but blends out seamlessly on the eyelid creating a super smooth canvas.

I definitely would repurchase this again in the future.

CHEEKS & BALANCES, HIGHLIGHT & CONTOUR CHEEK  DUO- 767 CHEEKY PINK

There are two other shade offerings available in these duo's one is sun kissed which is more of a bronze and glow highlight and Sweet Cheeks has a lighter highlight then Cheeky Pink, but similar pink blush tone.

I find this product super easy to work with to the point of being full proof. You basically line it up with the natural curve of your cheek bone glide it on and give it a gentle blend and voila your done. It has a nice glowy finish with very fine shimmer. It is more noticeable in the picture above of the pink blush portion.

I have not used this enough to say whether or not its long lasting or if there are any negatives about it to report. I will try to update at a later time. I do like the idea of this stick formulation and you get about the same amount as you would with a comparable powder blush.

SO BAKED CONTURING TRIO- 840 3X A CHARM & 841 3X A LADY

This product is stunning, I love it. I have been using these daily since I purchased them and have nothing but good things to say. I like them so much I am planning to buy the other two remaining colours which are 3 Strikes and 3rd Wheel.

Each compact comes complete with a BAKED blush, bronzer and highlight.

Back is 3x a charm, Front 3x a lady

In my opinion the 3x a lady trio is the perfect blush, highlight and bronzer. The bronzer is a more satin finish almost boarding matte, the blush is a beautiful peachy coral shimmer glow and the highlight is an intense champagne that really stands out big time.

You can also swirl your powder brush around all three colours to give your overall complexion a shimmery sunny glow, just be light handed with this product because as you can see it is quite shimmery.

796- MOM & POP (POP ART COLLECTION)

This is a really fun hex confetti polish. The base is a clear gel with the following colours of hex confetti suspended in it - pale pink, yellow, peach/orange and light lime green and a tiny sprinkle of iridescent hex as well to pull it all together. I love this its perfect for Spring/Easter

800- FAIRY BALL (CRYSTAL CONFETTI COLLECTION)

This is the perfect pink, every girls dream polish. It extremely soft and girlie, and very whimsical. This polish has small iridescent hex confetti followed up with large perfectly pink hex and pink strand confetti, sure to please the sugar plum fairy in all of us. This should be on your list of must have polishes this year.
