Good morning makeup lovers,
Today is all about the new collection by Essence called "Vintage District." This was only just put out this past week end by my local Shoppers Drug Mart.
So even though I know other areas have already reviewed the products I thought I would give you my view on what is considered new here for us Canadians.
Now I should let you know that there was a total of five different nail polishes in this collection which I went back to get three of them and they were all sold out:(. There was a coral, peach and blue. I noticed online there is also a silver tone in nail polish and eyesahdow and gel liner but my location never got those items at all or a clear coat polish.
Let's go now and take a walk through the VINTAGE DISTRICT.
First of two eye shadows is a very trendy peachy orange color that will be most suitable for spring and summer this year. This is quickly becoming a hot must have of the season. This color is called I'M SO RETRO the thing with these single shadow pans is they have an ikat type pattern with other colors running through so each tone compliments the other when mixed together to give you the perfect eye color. I actually wore this color over the week end and have had a few compliments on the bright burst of color across my lids. Actually the cosmetician where I purchased this liked it so much she was planning to buy it at days end.

I'M SO RETRO
Now if you want to add that extra pop and really have stand out eyes just do a duo tone with I'm so retro and this fantastic blue color called PORTOBELLO ROAD. This is a blue that is very pigmented when pact on the eye lid and has an ever so slight green undertone. If you want to have eyes that speak this seasons hottest tones then these single pans are a must have in your makeup collection.
PORTOBELLO ROAD
I actually am very curious to see how these will play out if I do a more dramatic version using them wet. I am certain my eyes will be total gems.
Portobello Road & I'm So Retro
As I mentioned in a previous post about Essence products the eyeshadow pans are extremely generous in size coming in at .08oz/2.46g and were only $2.49 each
I have been hearing so much about gel liner, but most of them are a bit pricey. So till now I have never bought any. In this line they have two gel liners but my store only carried the one color which was also called PORTOBELLO ROAD like the eyeshadow. The other color is a silver tone.
So do in part with price and the gorgeous bright color is what swayed me to give this one a go. It is a perfect companion to wear with the I'm so Retro eyeshadow which I have done and it looks amazing.
This swatch is one application very good pigmentation
This set comes with a small professional applicator brush and the product it self comes in a very nice small frosted glass jar with metal lid. It is .12oz/3.5g and I paid $3.99.
The overall presentation of this item is very nicely done and I adore the color and its staying power. I noticed that it didn't feather or smear on the eye during several hours of wear.
This next product is a great item to throw in your bag on sunny days on the go. It is the duo lipstick and gloss in the color VINTAGE PEACH. Upon opening the lipstick you think WOW this is a crazy bright orange and question "Can I pull this off?" However it is not as intimidating as it seems it applies very sheer with just the right hit of color on the lips. If you want to give it a little extra kick just top it with the matching gloss attached on the other end. The gloss applies smoothly and has no stickiness.

Gloss
This is a very fun versatile product and hope you get the chance to try it where ever you are.
The lipstick is .14oz/4g and the gloss is .10floz/3ml So a great amount of product for a super great price of $3.49. My only complaint with this item is the staying power isn't great and I did have to reapply a few times through the day, but that won't stop me from using this chic color. Again the cosmetician at the store loved the way it looked on she decided to buy the last one. Obviously I am doing a great job promoting this collection lol.
Last but not least my favorite buy of the day is the Blush in this collection called IT'S POPUL-ART.
Not only is this beautiful and can be used as blush and highlighter, but it is such a feast for the eyes a total compact of beauty. I could not believe this intricate beauty was such an affordable price. I am in LOVE.
There are a lot of companies that have done floral embossed compacts especially as of late, but the difference here is the price.
This compact is .31oz/9g and only cost $3.49 which is a staggering difference for something produced buy a higher end company. I realize formulations also play a big role, but Essence has never failed in that area for me any way. I understand people are different and we all have favorite brands. We should never judge cosmetics by their price point you might miss something wonderful assuming that because its a cheaper that it makes it cheaper quality. That is not always the case.
