MAYBELLINE THE COLOSSAL SMOKY EYES MASCARA & CLEAN EXPRESS EYEMAKEUP REMOVER

Good day everyone,

Here I am thinking the new Maybelline Colossal smoky eyes was just another black mascara, but low and behold it's not. The new line offers up three choices BLACKEST SMOKE, BLUE BLAZE and SCORCHING BROWN. My pick was blue blaze because it almost looks black but with a navy charcoal undertone.

The brush or wand is a standard bristle brush with no fancy gimmicks which I prefer. The formulation of this mascara is a little wetter then the Maybelline Rocket, I do not find it difficult to work with but have read other reviews of the complaint that this is to wet.

I don't find it incredibly noticeable the blue tone to this mascara once applied to your lashes, it just seems a little less harsh then blackest blacks. I had really hoped Maybelline was bringing the colour collection in the Great Lash line to Canada. However sadly that isn't happening so this will have to do.

If your looking for dramatic coloured mascara then this would not be it as this is very subtle.
You get 9.2ml for about $6

After all is said and done I like this mascara but not enough to repurchase. I still love my Rocket mascara and Lash Stiletto which I use one or the other daily.

If your looking for a great eye makeup remover I highly urge you to try the Maybelline Clean express for waterproof eye makeup. I find it so gentle which is a nice change as I find every time I use an eye makeup remover I feel an unpleasant burning on the delicate skin under my eye, so how gentle can they be if they are doing that. One of the most harsh products that I would stay away from is the Korean brand "The Face Shop" they have a cleansing rich oil made of rice water and I got a bit in my eye accidently the one day and it was so painful I thought I was going to go blind.

This product is dual action so you must shake the bottle well to activate the product prior to use and you get a great gentle clean without a lot of vigorous rubbing. Its safe for sensitive eyes and contact wearers and there is NO scent. To me its crazy when companies put heavy fragrance in product that goes near your eye, your just asking for trouble.

Maybelline I feel is the master of their craft when it comes to mascara and most eyeshadows at drugstore level. I am sure Maybelline will continue through history even long after I have laid my eyes to rest.

You get 120ml for about $7, but it lasts a long time because you need very little to get the job done.

LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS IF YOU HAVE TRIED EITHER OF THESE PRODUCTS, DO YOU LOVE THIS NEW MASCARA???

HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS MAYBELLINE REVIEW

  1. I have tried the Smoky Eyes and have a review up on my blog. Typically I don't care for Maybelline mascaras but I was very pleasantly surprised with this one. I expected I wouldn't care for it so when it worked so well I was pleased! I have used the Clean Express and I enjoy it but I prefer the simple one just a bit better. Great Post, I enjoyed reading it. Thanks for sharing. (◕‿◕✿)

    1. What is your favourite brand of mascara, because I think Maybellines main market would be their mascara. Thanks for reading and after "No Buy" I will have to give the "SImple" one a try.:)

    1. There are two different ones and a lot of people have said they prefer the more gel like one, but I prefer this one. I guess it just depends on your taste. Let me know which one you get and how you like it. Thanks for reading Justina:)
