MAC RIRI HEARTS BLUSH HIBISCUS KISS

Hello my beautiful readers,

Hope your all having a good week so far.

Today I will be reviewing the MAC RiRi hearts blush in Hibiscus Kiss. I am sure since its release its probably been reviewed thousands of times already, but hey! I have to put my few cents in as well.
Also no matter be it high end or drug store I am going to be brutally honest, which some people may think is taboo especially for a brand like MAC, but I am not changing my views or opinions for any one.

First off the blush Hibiscus Kiss is available in the permanent MAC collection. So why did I buy it you ask? Well it was the only item left in the RiRi Hearts collection at my local Bay store that I was interested in because the only other thing I was after was lipsticks and they were all gone.

For obvious starters even the box is pretty in its rose gold foil finish with RiRi's simplistic insignia on it for a rock chic flare.

Then we move to the compact which also is a beautiful rose gold in a perfect way that isn't to girly and "looks" quite glam.

However, now don't seem surprised! because with me you had to know this was coming.
However the things I dislike are as follows. Firstly your finger prints create a smeary mess all over the compact which can be cleaned off with a cloth, but who wants to keep doing that? Next and this is the big one for me. When you as a consumer anticipate the release of a high end brand/celeb collaboration YOU should expect the highest quality to details. So for me not being a avid purchaser of MAC when I do buy something this highly coveted I expect to be extremely WOWED. Upon first sight on photo's and in the press this collection looks fantastic, but when I am spending this kind of money especially on a blush, I want it all. So I feel this compact falls very short for me because I don't associate quality and high end with "PLASTIC". Also with it I would expect even a small retractable blush brush or perhaps even just a puff.  If you want to see my idea of high end go physically look at Guerlain's Rouge G de Guerlain Jewel Lipstick Compact, now that is a sight to behold and quality in your hand.

Come on MAC don't be cutting corners if a collection is "Limited Edition" spend the extra and bring out a rose gold toned jeweled compact made out of metal and give your huge customer following a perk like a blush brush or something.

However folks as long as your willing standing there allowing your wallet to be pillaged by companies who truly are not giving 110% in my eyes, well that's why the day will never come to see truly pleasing pieces that are throw backs to an era long gone, offered up in these LE collections as they so loudly make clear prior to sale day.

As for the blush it self I don't find it anything incredibly special. I will still be reaching for my Physicians Formula in the morning, which oddly the packaging is very similar, but even PF offers a brush in the bottom compartment of their compacts and there products are a fraction of the cost.
I am at least happy to see that Mac is made in Canada

So as it stands I got this as part of my birthday haul of goodies it is 10.5g and it cost with tax in Canada $38 *SIGH*. I think if I hadn't have swatched it I probably would have returned it.
I can honestly say I have no further temptation to own another Mac product. I am quite happy owning many different cosmetic lines and experiencing new and upcoming brands. I also am truly not interested in dropping that kind of money on one item, especially when it does not live up to my very high expectations for something of this stature.

Just remember everyone sales are generated first and foremost on branding, without that the company has nothing. Mac has obviously succeeded in that department.

Then again what do I know, I am just the crazy lady offering up my view here at Makeup'Asylum

LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS IF YOU LOVE ALL THINGS MAC AND IF YOU BOUGHT ANYTHING FROM THE RIRI HEARTS COLLECTION.

HOPE YOU COME BACK FOR MORE OFFERINGS SOON:)

PEACE & LOVE AND REMEMBER..

STAY BEAUTIFUL XO

  1. Hey! This is a great post. I'm happy that I never want to get myself the Riri's collection. It must be awful when you spent a lot in products that is not worth the price at all.
I honestly prefer the permanent line collection. I have mac studio fix and have been using it for so long and it is definitely worth the price.
    Thank you for sharing.
    Xoxo

  2. Hi lovely! I totally understand what you mean about MAC. They really did succeed well above and beyond on their branding. However that's all it is which is why I seldom buy MAC products. I think I've only purchased 3 things (2 brushes and 1 blush) from MAC with my own money and the other MAC products I have were gifted to me. I'm just not keen on MAC that much. There are greater (and cheaper) dupes out there for it! HEHE!

I wasn't interested in the Riri collection. Some things do look pretty but still just didn't have that much interest =/

Not hating on MAC, their stuff is great just over-rated in my opinion. lol! xoxo
