MAYBELLINE QUADS & EYESTUDIO CLEARANCE COLOR

Welcome back,

One item I will share with you today I got on a deep discount which is a Maybelline Eyestudio quint. On a separate shopping day I also picked up two more of the new formulation/ new packaging Maybelline quads. I already did one review on 3 of these new formulation quads if you want to take a look at those colours click on the link below
Maybelline QUADS 1ST REVIEW

MAYBELLINE EYESTUDIO-15 FOREST FURY
I really like the greens offered up in this quint. They are super soft and have excellent colour payoff. I don't know why I have not tried these sooner, very pleased.

At the top is a creamy champagne highlight that has noticeable iridescent glitter. The dark green in the middle has a satin finish. The lime green to the left and the sea foam green to the right are both very bold colours that run more metallic along with the yellow at the bottom that has a tiny hint of a green undertone.
I highly recommend these eyeshadows especially if you like big impact colour

MAYBELLINE EXPERT WEAR QUAD- NATURAL SMOKES
A very pleasant nude quad that can be used for day or night looks. This quad consists of two matte and two shimmer shadows.

I feel this is one of the very best of the new formulation quads out of the five I have purchased. The texture of the shadows are all really soft, even the ones with shimmer. The pigmentation is excellent especially that dark chocolate brown on the right end. I hope you all give this quad a try. I feel this one will be a hot seller for those that love their neutrals. The shimmer on my middle finger is a slivery taupe and the bronze on my ring finger has an ever so slight burgundy tinge if you take a look in person.

EXPERT WEAR QUAD- CHAI LATTE
This quad has a soft dusty beige base colour, a rich cooper that is a little deeper then Maybelline's single pan colour called "Copper Craze". The crease colour is a gentle cocoa powder brown and the liner shade is a warm moka brown with goldish/red fine glitter.

From L2R-This quad has a satin base colour, the lid shade is shimmer, the crease shade is matte and the liner shade is fine glitter.

I am more satisfied with the purchase of these two quads then I was with the three I purchased earlier in December. I say these should be on your list of inexpensive quads to get soon.

HAVE ANY OF YOU PICKED UP THE NEWLY FORMULATED QUADS, IF SO WHAT COLOURS DID YOU PICK???

THANKS FOR READING AND HAVE A GREAT DAY

XOXO:)

NEW PACKAGING, NEW FORMULA WHATS UP WITH MAYBELLINE????

WHOOP THERE IT IS MAYBELLINE

It would seem that Maybelline is doing some revamping of their packaging. I saw these quads at my local Walmart on rollback for $3.96, so hey! why not and there are some beautiful colours to be had here.

This first set is called LUMINOUS LILACS, here are the swatches
I find the highlights are pretty, but weak and gritty in texture, the taupe is strongest for colour payoff and the purple is too but is chalky and skips when applying. This quad offers 2 shimmer, a glitter and a matte which is the purple, which is why I imagine its a lot dryer.

This next quad is called LAVENDER SMOKES, here are the swatches
The two darkest shades are nice and buttery and the lightest shade is dusty and the pink at top right again has that gritty texture, but the colours are beautiful. I figure even if I use mainly the darker shades it was still  worth $4. 3 of the shades are shimmer and the top pink one is a shimmer with fine glitter, which is probably why it feels gritty :/

This quad is called Electric Blue and speaks for it self. It is amazing in terms of colour and out of the three the most consistent in terms of texture for all 4 colours. All very soft, a little chalky, but I think what people will love about this particular quad is that all the colours apply matte.

I already have a matte black so that's not a plus there, but the rest of the colours will be a lot of fun to play with, especially as I have been wanting more matte shadows as of late. The cobalt blue is the clear winner here.

I would say if you love nude/rose/neutrals grab the Lavender Smokes. If you want high impact matte shades get the Electric Blue. As for the Luminous Lilacs I would say skip it because the only really stand out colour in that set is the taupe/grey.

I HAVE NOT ACTUALLY USED ANY OF THESE YET TO DO A LOOK WITH, SO I CAN NOT SAY HOW WELL THEY PERFORM ON THE EYE AND THE OVERALL STAYING POWER. (I WILL TRY TO UPDATE AT A LATER TIME)

Like I said for $4 its fine if not all of them turned out to be completely awesome and I am sure I will put quite a few shades to good use over all.
There were a couple of other quads that caught my eye so I may get them and see how they work out as well.

LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS IF YOU HAVE SEEN THESE REPACKAGED QUADS AND IF YOU BOUGHT ANY?????

THANKS FOR COMING BACK TO MAKEUP'ASYLUM

XOXO:)

HIT & MISS WITH THE OLD FORMULA (MAYBELLINE EXPERT WEAR QUADS)

Hi everyone,

So my local Shoppers Drug Mart was doing a clearance on Maybelline expert wear quads at $4.50 each so I picked up 4. I have read mixed reviews on these shadows, but in the grand scheme of things I would rather try it for myself unless the general consensus is a "Fail".

Jumping right in the first one is

LUMINOUS LIGHTS QUAD IN OPAL LIGHTS 75Q

This particular quad I would recommend using the shades for highlighting. They are all very light, airy and ethereal and leave a beautiful glow. Just a hair dusty when rubbing your brush across them.

STYLISH SMOKES 08Q EMERALD SMOKES

Perfect quad of greens with a micro fine glitter in the darkest shade

MODERN METALLICS 24Q ENCHANTED FOREST

I love the green in this quad as it gives off a steel blue undertone in different angles of light, also the brown is a true rich coffee brown that can be used with many other shadow colours.

and to round out the Maybelline expert wear eyeshadow review is
MODERN METALLICS 50Q SUNLIT BRONZE

This is probably my fave out of the four that I purchased, I love anything reminiscent of sand, sun and glowing skin.

I probably would not pay full price for these as I do find the lighter shades a bit dusty and the pigmentation is a little weak. However they do wear well throughout the day and they are good for more everyday use because the colour is a little more gentle. I also think that to get 16 colours for $20 is a good deal and it works out to be 19.2g total product so that's definitely a plus as well.

LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS IF YOU HAVE ANY OF THESE MAYBELLINE QUADS OR ANY OTHER COLOURS IN THE COLLECTION????

THANK YOU ALL FOR CONTINUING TO SHOW YOUR LOVE AND SUPPORT TO MAKEUP'ASYLUM

XOXO

REVLON PHOTOREADY PRIMER + SHADOW PALETTES & L'OREAL BRAZEN BOLD SHADOW QUAD

So in case you are just starting to read my blogs or for those that aren't aware. Eyeshadow is by far my favoured choice when it comes to buying cosmetics. I think that nothing makes a bigger statement then our eyes because they are the windows to our soul. I do feel that you should emphasis what ever feature you feel is your best, so for me it is eye's.

Yes that's what we are talking about today more beautiful delicious eyeshadows.

First up is Revlon Photoready eyeshadow with primer.
My first pick was the palette called BOHEMIAN which you can check out my Instagram to see my eyes of the day I did using this palette.

I love these colours and the name chosen for this palette I think is perfectly suited. These are very shimmery and colour payoff is excellent. The thing I like most about these shadows they are super soft like suede and go on flawlessly. The other thing I like is that if you leave out the blue you can make a very nice neutral eye with the remaining colours. The one thing I don't like is the concept within the palette of the eye and lid shape. Yes its esthetically nice to look at, but a flaw in my books because colours transfer between each other when working with them unless your super careful.

My second choice is the palette called POP ART this palette leans more towards a smokey sultry eye with the rich gold and deeper black with a gold glitter infused throughout and a very unusual silver/blue shade. There is also a very neat glitter shade which is a small square its a green/yellow base with very pretty green glitter that would look amazing for a New Year party look.

Each palette is 2.8g which is about the same quantity if you bought two MAC single pan eyeshadows, except with this your getting five colours. Each colour in these palettes has a specific use such as a lid primer, bottom lid shade, crease, highlight and sparkle top coat.
The best part is that this week in the "Rexall Pharma Plus" flyer all Revlon eye products are $6.99 so I priced matched that at my local WalMart. This is a great buy because each palette is normally $12 WOW $$$ BIG SAVE

The last item to share today is L'Oreal's colour riche BRAZEN BOLDS quad in the colour NEON SKIRT. I have been looking at this for a while and finally decided to get it only because I had enough SHOPPERS DRUG MART Optimum points to cover the cost of it. There are a couple more I would like to eventually get and try, but in the cosmetic world or with anything it's never ending.

The pink, white and yellow gold tend to be quite shimmery and the green is a bit more matte, but with a super fine glitter that you must look very hard to see. Again this type of palette is all complimentary colours intended to all work seamlessly together. So if your a novice at makeup these simple quads are a good starting point. They also provide step by step instructions on the back to help you achieve a flawless look using all the colours.
These quads are 4.8g/.17oz and cost normally about $12-$14 depending on where you shop. It was on sale at Shoppers Drug Mart for $10.50, but again I used my points so for me it was essentially free.

So that sums up today's review on all things "SHADOW"

MAYBELLINE COLOR TATTOO'S & EYESTUDIO QUADS

HI ALL,

My very first memories of using cosmetics consisted of Maybelline kissing koolers, kissing potions and Great Lash mascara in electric blue and plum.

Now flash forward some twenty years later and there are still products that Maybelline releases and I fall in love with them just as I did many years before.

I actually have been so caught up trying a number of different products as of late that I forgot how much I enjoy using the Maybelline eyestudio quads. I noticed they were on sale at Shopper's Drug Mart for $6.99 which is a deal so I decided to rekindle my relationship with eyestudio's again and picked 85 GUTSY GREEN and 10 MAD FOR MAUVE both are equally gorgeous and full of shimmer and sass.
                                           MAD FOR MAUVE

I really wish I could give you names for each colour which is the only draw back with these quads however in this palette my favorite colour is the light dusty rose second in from left. These are very fun colours to work with, they are more shimmery so if your older and this doesn't appeal to you "buyer beware". The one thing I did notice is this particular quad is extremely similar to a previous release called TAUPE TEMPTRESS. It would seem they merely swapped one colour out for one newer more trendier tone for this year which would be the green.

GUTSY GREEN has been out for a while but I didn't have this one so I thought I would give it a go. Also green's especially Emerald is all the rage this year according to Pantone and I love how they make the eye stand out no matter your eye colour, green is quite universal.

The best thing with these eyeshadow's is that they are very pigmented but clean off very easily with even a simple baby wipe.
You get 2.5g/.09oz which really isn't much for four colours, but they last a while. average price is about $10

I finally thought I would try out the 24hr Color Tattoo's which my only concern with this product is how quickly they may dry out. I have seen some pretty sad looking tester's in the store which isn't saying much about this products longevity. However I plan to use them as a shadow primer as well as on my eye alone if I just want a fast option if I am in a hurry. The important thing with this product is to not over do it or you will get creasing. However I used it this morning for my current eye look and it seems to be holding up pretty well underneath my eye shadow. I purchased three colours two of which are very neutral they are INKED IN PINK and BARELY BRANDED and the third colour is the stand out BOLD GOLD. I am a huge fan of bronze, gold, rose gold, cooper makeup so this was right up my alley.

INKED IN PINK

BARELY BRANDED

                                                                        BOLD GOLD

These are 4g/.14oz and cost $7 at Walmart and about $10 at drug stores. I find colour tattoo`s are best applied with your finger tip and blend them well. For overall multi use barely branded would be my top pick of these three.

So that's it for today, so make sure to always check out pricing from one store to a next because it can sometimes be surprising the difference a five minute walk between stores can make.

Try out these products soon if you haven`t all ready.

SEDONA LACE THE BABE COLLECTION "AMAZING"

Hello everyone,

So for those that don't know last month I won Sedona Lace's Twitter contest and the prize was there eyeshadows called "THE BABE COLLECTION." So first I want to say Thank you so much to Sedona Lace for such a great prize and secondly how incredibly quick the parcel arrived considering it came from Florida to Toronto.

I am very excited to be sharing these products with you. This is my first experience with Sedona Lace and I look forward to purchasing some brushes and other products from them soon.

OMG! is all I can say these eyeshadows are amazing. All of shadows in this collection have a very intense shimmer finish. The colours are all beyond beautiful and there are some other perks to these quads as well one being that they are very portable each compact is about 4"x4" and under a inch thick. So the beauty of these quads is they have a quick change feature which means if you want to switch out individual colours you can pop it out and add another in its place which I think is great for refilling as well. Fingers crossed hoping that Sedona Lace will bring out even more colours in the future which will be able to purchase separately. This is extremely well thought out packaging and makes for very easy travel in smaller makeup bags. My only small complaint is the lip which you put your finger on to open the compact is a bit tidies and for those that do their nails you may find it chips your polish trying to pop the compact open.
The packaging over all is pretty standard, but at the end of the day your not wearing the packaging on your eye its the makeup inside that counts most.

So the first quad is called DANIELA and she is a true girlie girl offering up a garden of beautiful colours which are Carnation, Pink rose, Orchid and Violet

From top: Carnation, Pink Rose, Violet and Orchid

Following behind is DANA the perfect girl for Spring with colors reminiscent of outdoor elements like flowers, the sky and grass. The colours in this palette are Snow White, Blush, Green Mist and Cadet Blue. One of the things I noticed well doing the swatches is that the Snow White flashes an iridescent purple/pink in the light which is super cool.

From left: Green Mist, Cadet Blue, Blush and Snow White

A couple of things I would like to point out with this palette. The green looks a lot darker in the compact but when applied is more minty and reminds me of Pistachio pudding, but it did photograph darker as well. Also the Blush surprisingly is much more a darker pink but once applied is a very soft sheer pink on the skin and the Snow White looks like it should be the colour Blush but its not it is the one on the right end. That's the flash I was speaking about.

Moving on with ADRIENNE this girl is smokin and dramatic with serious colours like Dark Gold, Steel Grey, Pewter and Triple Black. If your a fan of smoked out eyes your going to love and want this palette it will make your eyes a whole load more sultry. I actually really love the black in this palette because it almost has a slight shine to it like leather. This will be a lot of fun to work with.

From Top: Steel Grey, Dark Gold, Pewter and Triple Black

Next up is SUZANNE which I am wearing on my eyes today this girl is a Golden Goddess for sure with rich tones like Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Ginger and Brown Sugar its like a warm latte for the eyes. This palette makes me think of Evening sunsets, golden sands and sexy tequila nights. Then you can also play these colours come fall as well like a brisk autumn walk with golden leaves on the trees and warm coffee in hand mmmmm.

From Top: Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Ginger and Brown Sugar

I really love this palette and find its good for everyday use. I find the colours so intense and with a good primer the staying power is excellent. I have been wearing it for over five hours and it hasn't budged. I see a tiny bit of creasing but its really nothing noticeable unless your really looking for it. The biggest perk to these shadows is that I found there was "ZERO" fall out which in it self is a feat as we all know most shadows do. SIMPLY SPLENDID

Lastly is BRIDGETTE this again is a very wearable daily palette with shades also suitable for fun in the sun like Sunstone, Sandy Quartz, Copper and Amethyst. The copper in this palette is one of the most saturated colours I have ever seen and I have seen many shadows in my years of makeup. I also like the fact that the amethyst plays off the copper nicely and sunstone and sandy quartz will marry well with them to top off your look. The colour sandy quartz reminds me a lot of L'Oreal's infallible in Goldmine just a tad lighter.

From top: Sunstone, Sandy Quartz, Copper and Amethyst

So there you have it everyone a detailed look at the BABE COLLECTION by Sedona Lace.
Each compact has a generous sized glass mirror, there are no eyeshadow applicators included which doesn't matter to me as I never use them anyway unless its an emergency. Also here is the picture showing how each pan can be popped out to interchange with others *SMART*

In closing I love all these shadows and will truly enjoy using them probably daily. I recommend them big time if your a person looking for great value and a whole lot of colour payoff. The entire set of 5 palette's are $49.95 or if you are only interested in a particular one they sell for $12.95 each.
I can't give you the amounts (i.e g/oz) of each shadow as it isn't present on the compacts or on the boxes they came in, however they are a very generous size from the looks of it.

Check out Sedona Lace for a great selection of quality brushes and clearly their eyeshadow's too. For a look at their entire line go to

You can also follow me on Instagram and Twitter and each day I do a new Eye's and Nail's of the day. So if you want to see the Suzanne palette in action for today head on over and have a look at my picture on Instagram now.

As always everyone have a wonderful day and
