NYX EYESHADOW PALETTES (PHOTO HEAVY)

WELCOME EVERYONE,

Today I will be sharing with you a few palettes and two trio's I picked up about three weeks ago from the NYX line. This is going to be a fairly lengthy post, but mostly photo heavy. I have not had a lot of time to play with them and create looks using them. However I often can tell from swatching and touching the shadows to know if I am going to love or hate them. So lets get started.

The first two I am showing are the trios

LOVE IN RIO- CAIPIRINHAS ON THE BEACH 3g
A stunning vibrant trio of aquatic blues with strong pigmentation

I find shades of blue such as these tend to often have the best colour payoff and often times purples are the weakest.

LOVE IN RIO- EN FUEGO 3g
I find this a very pretty sultry little trio with lovely shades suitable for evening looks

These particular colours and the texture make me think of suede and I love that rich burgundy berry tone in the middle.

Moving on the next are the 5 of the LOVE IN PARIS 9 pan palette

06- C'EST LA VIE
A nice complimentary mix of neutrals and gem tones

The three shades at the bottom are the real highlights of this palette, all shadows are shimmer in this one.

07-PARDON MY FRENCH
This is my favourite of all these palettes because all the colours are equally balanced and the colour payoff was the best overall. I love that its very earthy and their are some great orange toned shadows to be had in this palette.

My favourites in this palette is the light minty green, the orange gold beside it to the right and the chocolate brown with fine gold fleck glitter in the very middle.

09-MERCI BEAUCOUP
This palette is a mix of neutrals and pinky red based colours. There is also a good mix of matte, satin and shimmer finishes. However 4 of the 9 colours had extremely poor colour payoff as you will see in the photo's. If the pigmentation had have been more consistent this could have been an excellent palette for everyday use:(

As you can see really the two main standout shades here are the top middle and the one below it, also the reddish colour on the bottom right is decent. However I would probably skip this palette all together as its least favourable.

10-JE NE SAIS QUOI
This palette offers up shimmer, glitter, matte finishes and the colour payoff of the black and cream colour above it are phenomenal. The black is so saturated and the cream colour is the perfect finish and colour for brow bone highlight.

I would say 5 of the colours that are the light shimmer tones are to close in colour and the variations could have been a little better, however I love that black and actually the photo does not do it justice.

and lastly is

11-YOU ARE IN SEINE
So the black in this palette has chunky silver glitter and then the brown beside it is satin and the middle colour that's a peachy gold is shimmer and same with the gold at top left. All the other 5 colours in the palette are matte which I think will be a big selling point for some people. However again some of the shades are weak, but the true star in this palette is the matte indigo/teal blue on the bottom left.

Again that one really light shade in the middle to the far left is almost non-apparent, but this palette is still quite nice overall.

So that concludes my initial thoughts on these offerings from NYX. I hope you found a palette that has caught your eye. I just wished that they were all a little more consistent with the exception of "Pardon My French" which I feel was best overall.
The trios are 3g and were $8.99 CAD
The 9 pan palettes are $11.99 CAD
LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE TRIED ANY OF THE LOVE IN..... TRIO'S OR PALETTES FROM NYX?????
THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND HAVE A GREAT DAY:)

NO BUY NOVEMBER PART3 LIP PRODUCTS

Hi everyone,

I cannot believe we are already in mid of week three here on the "No Buy November" and this week we are looking at lip products that have been hibernating in our stash and need to come out. Again I have several to share as lips and eyes are my two favourite types of beauty products. To me there is nothing sexier then a good set of lips.

WOW ladies hopefully you all have been good this month and didn't sway from the "NO BUY" because we are almost there, 11 days and then its beauty buying freedom again. However I have found it rather easy to do this "No Buy" because for starters I don't buy a lot of high end and there has not been a lot at drugstore level that has been making my heart flutter for the holidays. I also have been busy doing Christmas shopping, decorating and doing fun family activities that has been filling my time and taking my mind off buying beauty products that I really don't need.
Any way after that randomness lets get started.

First are three lipsticks that I really love, but with how many I have it's hard to keep up.

ELIZABETH ARDEN EXCEPTIONAL LIPSTICK IN- CORALINE

NYX CREAMY ROUND LIPSTICK IN-POWER

REVLON SUPER LUSTROUS MATTE LIPSTICK IN- 011 STORMY PINK

I am enjoying that the lipsticks I have been reaching for all offer something different the Elizabeth Arden is a nice shimmer shade, the Nyx lipstick has great opacity and is very rich on the lips and the Revlon is the perfect matte lipstick all around without being overdrying.

L2R: CORALINE, POWER & STORMY PINK

I also have three glosses to share which now that we are heading into winter I tend to reach for more. They tend to keep my lips moisturized longer and I like shiny lips especially out in the sunshine and snow.

BATH & BODY WORKS LIPLICIOUS IN - WHIPPED VANILLA

BEAUTIFUL SHIMMER AND YUMMY TASTE

TONY MOLY CRYSTAL GLAM COLOR GLOSS (CAN'T TELL YA THE NAME AS IT'S ALL WRITTEN IN KOREAN) SORRY!

I LIKE THIS GLOSS BECAUSE IT ALMOST SEEMS FROSTY WITH IT'S BEAUTIFUL LIGHT PURPLE HUE, I ACTUALLY FORGOT I HAD THIS AND WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED WHEN I WAS RUMMAGING, GREAT WINTER LIPPY:)

NYC CITY PROOF EXTENDED WEAR LIPGLOSS IN- ROUND THE CLOCK RUBY

THIS IS TRULY A CANDY APPLE RED THAT IS PERFECT FOR THE HOLIDAYS AND WHAT SHINE AND PIGMENT

LASTLY ALL THOUGH I TOTALLY LOVE MY BARE ENGLISH & CO. LIP BALMS I STILL WILL REACH FOR OTHER'S AS WELL AND THE TWO I HAVE BEEN USING THIS PAST WEEK OR SO ARE BOTH BY SOFTLIPS WHICH ARE

SOFTLIPS PURE LIP BALM CALLED- BERGAMOT PURE

AND SOFTLIPS NOURISH IN - FRESH LAVENDER

I have had both of these lip balms for quite some time and I believe I picked them both up at my local Dollarama. They are super hydrating and the one called PURE really is a lip rescue in a tube. Times my lips have been severely chapped this is the only product that will help next to Vaseline.

HOPE YOU ALL ENJOYED THIS LOOK AT MANY VARIETIES OF LIP PRODUCTS AND MAYBE DISCOVERED SOMETHING YOU MIGHT WANT TO TRY.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE LIP PRODUCTS FOR WINTER AND CHAPPED LIP RELIEF?

****NoBUYvember "SHOP MY STASH" WEEK 1: FACE PRODUCTS ****

Hi everyone,

So if you have been keeping up with other blogs such as Liz over at http://myprettyobsessions.blogspot.ca/2013/11/no-buy-november-challenge-intro-to-shop.html
or Shalunya over at
http://shalunyaboyet.blogspot.ca/2013/11/girls-being-good-no-buy-november.html
Then you know that I am talking about joining along in the "No Buy November". Shalunya is essentially the one who got this clever ball rolling and I am happy to be apart of this. I also believe that Neya over at http://www.neyavbeautytalk.com/ is taking part in the challenge as well.

So as mentioned by Shalunya this month long "No Buy" will allow all of us who are taking part to get in touch with some of our rather neglected makeup items in our stash, that all deserve some attention. Also give to others and worrying less about material items, which I am perfectly satisfied in doing. The 4 weeks have been broken up in to specific areas of interest. So with that this post will focus specifically on "The Face". Oddly enough I am already ahead of the game because I noticed now that the colder weather has arrived I was already starting to reach for some items that have been on the back burner and now are finally getting some love again. I find I have been really into some of my Korean cosmetics as of late, so lets take a look.

I have been reaching for my MISSHA M PERFECT COVER BB CREAM partnered with the MISSHA M SIGNATURE REAL COMPLETE BLENDING PRIMER both products are amazing. The bb cream is a true Asian bb cream, so it totally lives up to it's promises and if you know anything about the Missha brand that speaks for it self. I bought these items way back in March and I did use it a ton in the beginning, but when you own and buy a lot of makeup it quickly gets lost in the pile.

The bb cream I use from Missha is No.23 natural beige
Missha M Perfcet BB cream is $24.50 in CAD and the Primer was a free gift
(Just beware that Missha products do tend to have a strong scent, but it did not irritate my super sensitive skin which was a surprise and it dissipates as you wear it)

Then to set my bb cream I do a light pressing of this luxurious finely milled powder from Holika Holika called BABY BLOOM. This powder creates a transparent foggy veil over the skin to make you look luminous and bright. The product is created with a "Sebum Capture Network" that maintains your makeup all day. I have to admit I was very skeptical about buying this powder because that's a lot to promise and it has a slight scent to it that I was worried would bother my skin and its expensive as well. However it does have an excellent SPF of 25 to protect your skin in any season.

You get 25g for $26

Even the container is a beautiful item to have on your vanity and comes with a very well made puff that shows signs of quality, there is also a sifter which I took off to photograph the powder.

Last up is not a Korean item, but a familiar item to those makeup junkies out there and that is NYX single pan blush in the colour 25 PINCHED
I generally am not a fan of blush all the time, but when the right colour comes a long it is truly a love affair. Pinched has often been compared as being a very good dupe to NARS Orgasm. I have looked at pictures of the two products side by side and they are extremely close. I find what makes this blush so appealing is that sensual golden undertone it leaves behind on the skin.

I feel this is the type of blush that is suitable for just about anyone and I imagine the gold sheen would look amazing on girls of colour as it would emphasis the cheek bone and the colour it self if built up will be super sassy. This is a very versatile blush that makes for an amazing eyeshadow as well.

So I am glad to have shopped my stash and rediscovered my hidden gems and hope you all enjoyed seeing them as well.

LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS IF YOU HAVE BEEN REACHING FOR ANY FACE PRODUCTS THAT SEEM TO HAVE GOTTEN LOST IN THE MIX

Thanks everyone for reading and have a great day:)

"WHAT A STEAL" NYX ULTRA PEARL MANIA PIGMENTS

WELCOME TO THE INSANITY,

Today just real quick I thought I would share these two pigments from NYX. If you have read my previous posts on NYX products you know I love me some pigments. The added bonus was I scored these two awesome colours perfect for fall for only $1.50 CAD, HOOT HOOT. Normally these will run you $5 each.

The first colour is a saturated brown that has a gorgeous foil gold finish, this is 23 WALNUT PEARL.

This next colour is perfect for my fall inspired look for the ever changing leaves and this is called 22 RUST PEARL

Always be sure to check out smaller drugstores where stock might not move as quick because this is where you can find a bounty of awesome items for super cheap.

I will also have the link to my previous NYX post showing you some other Ultra Pearl Mania pigments as well.

I am not really a fan of the containers they come in. I am planning on transferring them to small pots from the Dollarama and sticking the labels on those instead. I did not come up with the idea I read it on someones blog and wish I could remember who so they could be recognized for there idea:( Sorry about that. (Got to start writing this stuff down) *sigh*

Here are two links for other colours I have in these pigments

LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY OF THESE PIGMENTS AND WHAT YOUR FAVOURITE COLOURS ARE? OR IF NOT IS IT SOMETHING YOUR HOPING TO TRY??

Any way hope you enjoyed this quick one and come back soon for more from
MAKEUP'ASYLUM:)

NYX SOHO GLAM COLLECTION A REAL SHOW STOPPER

I hope everyone had a great week-end and those in the GTA enjoyed soaking up all the beautiful sun we finally are being blessed with.

To finally round out all my NYX reviews I left by biggest item for last which is the SOHO GLAM COLLECTION.
This is a multi use kit with a lot of options in it. Now normally I am not a fan of these types of sets but I really like this one for a few different reasons. Lets start with the pictures then my thoughts.

The eyeshadow's in this collection were the biggest selling point for me. As you see in picture 1 there are a lot of options so you can do a bright summery look to a nice bronzy gold goddess look and then the silvers and browns and darker shadows to do a sexier smoky eye. There is 48 different shadows ranging in color and finish (matte or shimmer) in the top part of the tray. Then you slide the two trays out the sides to reveal a compartment underneath that houses 8 more eye shadows, 2 applicator sponges and a small brush. There is also 2 lip glosses and a lip liner. The lip glosses are pretty basic in color and leave just a gentle wash over the lips nothing outstanding, but they are very smooth and no tackiness. I'll use them up.
The color I love of the eye shadows in the top tray is the coppery shade which is in (picture3) below the bright blue shadow and also one of the swatches on my finger tip. I can see me self using it a lot over the summer, but this color seems versatile enough that you can play with it for autumn as well. Then there is a pull out tray at the bottom that reveals 3 blushes and one bronzer and 8 lip colors. The blushes seem velvety and apply nicely without chalkiness. The lip color's do feel sticky upon application, but surprisingly some of the colors are actually appealing unlike most multi-use palettes on the market usually the lip colors don't normally cut it.
The palette packaging over all is pretty sturdy, but basic. The only downside is the high shine finish on the case shows every single finger print which makes it look dirty.
I think this collection is great for a novice or pro to the makeup world and should be given a chance even though these types of collections are often frowned upon as not being up to standard in terms of quality, but I beg to differ on this one.
The SOHO GLAM COLLECTION can be purchased for $32.99 Cad or $30 U.S and is available on both websites.
