ANNABELLE CC INSTANT PERFECTING BASE

This week went surprisingly quick, and I am always happy when the weekend arrives especially now with the better weather making a more regular appearance.

I like several products from the Canadian cosmetic line Annabelle, so the last time I was at my local Rexall store I decided to try something new.

Annabelle offers the CC Instant Perfecting Base. It only comes in two finishes, natural and luminous. The natural finish is suppose to be suitable for all skin tones, not to be mistaken with types.

The idea with this product is to prime the skin for makeup and improve foundation wear. I chose the Natural Finish.

Here are some other highlights mentioned on the bottle

  • Lightweight
  • Non-sticky
  • controls skin colour by neutralizing redness, dull and uneven complexion
  • Corrects instantly by reducing the appearance of pores and fine lines and leaves a flawless anti-shine finish
  • Can be worn alone or under foundation, pressed or bronzing powder

Some other benefits of the perfecting base are that it is oil free, non-comedogenic, paraben-free, perfume-free, hypo-allergenic, and dermatologist tested

Made in Canada 30ml I paid $7.99, that may have been a sale I don't remember seeing a sign. However on the ANNABELLE website it is $16.95

CLOSEST PANTONE COLOUR MATCH

You can see from this picture to the previous one that the texture has improved and lines have been blurred

Initially I was excited to test out this product. It applied really smoothly, and seemed to have a nice finish that I felt would be complimentary to my foundation routine. I have now worn this maybe three times over the past two weeks since purchasing and unfortunately it is not working for me. I think it is a lovely product and will best suit normal or normal to dry skin types, but for me Miss oil slick over here I did not find it was able to keep up. A few hours of wear and I was oily and I felt that my foundation was not sitting well on my skin by that point. Again I stress this is a very nice formula if you have regular skin. The one thing I can vouch for is that it does even out the complexion nicely. I also find it did reduce the redness really well for how sheer and lightweight the formulation initially seems, yet it is creamy to the touch, but not sticky at all. The dry down on the face is really nice and almost undetectable. Also because you won't need a lot to cover your face or for some just specific areas a bottle will last a long time.

SIDENOTE- This does come in a pump bottle, so thumbs up to that

I may try it a few more times with some other products to see if anything else works because I would hate for this product to go to waste. However if all else fails I may just use it as an eyelid primer which might be a good option. I will try to update in the coming weeks.

I HOPE YOU FOUND THIS REVIEW HELPFUL AND DON'T FORGET TO FOLLOW MAKEUP'ASYLUM AND LEAVE ME A COMMENT IF YOU LIKE.

HAVE A FANTASTIC WEEKEND EVERYONE:)

ANNABELLE BIGGY ZEBRA BRONZING POWDER MATTE GOLD

Happy Monday all,                                                                                  PR SAMPLE

Starting the week off with a review on the Annabelle biggy zebra bronzing powder. I received the matte gold, which is a new offering to the Annabelle bronzer range. I am glad I waited, as I was on the hunt for a matte bronzer and this arrived just in time.

Did you know the biggy bronzer was voted by Canadian gals as best bronzer under $25, not once, but twice.

First off this bronzer really is big! coming in at 15.4g, and will run you about $12. This will absolutely last you all spring and summer and easily into the next year as well. Annabelle biggy bronzer is a velvety smooth, mineral based formulation, suitable for all skin types. It is also offered in "Dark Gold" for those with deeper complexions.

The purpose of the Zebra print is to offer 3 perfectly grouped variations of golden and bronze stripes that will mix to offer up a natural tan effect. This bronzer is quite effortless just sweep over the areas of the skin where the sun would naturally hit and it will add a luminous glow without being overbearing.

I finally wore this for the first time on Saturday and I love the way it looks, no orange, no shimmer, just perfectly sun kissed. If I could compare this to any other bronzer, I myself have tried, I would say it has a similarity to the Rimmel Sun Shimmer maxi bronzer. They both come in large compacts, and the texture of the powder itself is close, but I like the feel of Annabelle's better. Also the Rimmel has slight shimmer.

The top pic is of the three colours and the bottom is all the shades mixed together, excuse the darkest shade which still looks like a noticeable swatch.

Over all Annabelle is a great cosmetic brand with many innovative products being offered at an affordable price. You will also love their blushes and their newest offering scented Lipsies which I also reviewed, you can read that here

Also have piece of mind knowing that Annabelle Biggy Bronzer is free of the following

-Paraben
-Perfume
-Gluten

It is also hypo-allergenic and dermatologist tested, so people like myself with sensitive skin won't have to worry that it will irritate our face.

UPDATE- This has become my all time fave bronzer because its matte and looks like a real tan on the skin. I have been using it daily and it will be in my April favourites.

I hope you too will try Annabelle Biggy Zebra Bronzer, and do come back and tell me if you love it, or not. Thanks for reading and have a great week.

ANNABELLE LIPSIES

Hi all,                                                                                PR SAMPLE/PURCHASE

Today on my blog it's all about fruity lip balms from Annabelle. I received two from the company and I also purchased three myself.

Initially Annabelle had released the oh so yummy Lipsies twice for a limited time, but good news! they are here to stay as part of Annabelle's permanent line, HOORAY!

QUOTE FROM ANNABELLE- "One swipe of this glossy balm will provide a sweet, shiny hint of colour!"

The two balms that were sent are Coco-Vanilla & Strawberry. The three I purchased are Cupcake, Cotton Candy & Raspberry

What I like about these balms is that some have colour and others have a hint or none at all. Sometimes all I really want is to soothe my lips and just have a glossy look and other times I want the hit of colour. This is a great product because its versatile and will appeal to anyone from 9 to 99. It's also a savvy introduction to makeup for young girls without to much colour for young lips and who isn't going to love all the fun scents?

LIPSIES
3.5g SRP. $4.95

The swatches here go from the Lipsie that is absent of colour to the one with the most pigmentation.

From Top 2 Bottom
  • Cupcake (No colour)
  • Coco-Vanilla (ever so faint, tini, tiny hint of peach)
  • Cotton Candy (sheer ballerina pink with slight shimmer)
  • Strawberry (true bright red, strongest pigmentation)
  • Raspberry (mauve berry tone, buildable colour)

I do find you have to reapply fairly often, which I personally don't mind, but just putting that out there, if that is something you don't like. Good slip, no stickiness at all. All the scents are accurate to their name sake, but are tasteless, so you only get the smell. The only Lipsie I am not sure about is Coco-Vanilla, not my favourite of the bunch. Lipsies are retractable and can be put in a pocket, back pack or purse, so they are always handy. Also the caps stay firmly in place and are not flimsy.

In closing, is this a makeup staple, you must have? No! but overall I think they are a fun product with the benefit to keep the lips soft and playfully scented. I think you should at least try one because you probably will get attached just like many of us have.

There are 12 Lipsies in all and can be found at pharmacies, mass retailers and directly through Annabelle's website.

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS REVIEW AND BE ON THE LOOK OUT AS I WILL HAVE ANOTHER ANNABELLE POST COMING SOON

MY FAVORITE PRODUCTS THAT I USE DAILY

HI EVERYONE,

Today I thought I would share with you all, some of my favourite staple items that I reach for almost everyday. The only time I use other products is if I am doing eye looks for pictures, photographing products for blogs or going somewhere that requires a certain day or night look.

PHYSICIANS FORMULA SUPER BB- This is the very first thing I put on my face after washing it in the morning. It is in the colour Light/Medium and gives my face a dewy flawless finish without making my face look like a mask. 35ml is $22

ESSENCE STAY ALL DAY 16HR CONCEALER- By far the best concealer I have personally used, but I have not used any high end so I may be limiting myself. However for the price you can't beat the coverage, lasting power and it has a nice cream consistency that is not to thick. 7ml for $4

MAYBELLINE FIT ME BLUSH "MEDIUM CORAL"- This blush has become my fave as I am not normal a fan of blush entirely so this has worked out well. I still love my PF happy booster blush just as much I tend to go back and forth between the two. This gives just a perfect kiss of colour without looking like an old crazy cat lady with to much rouge on her cheeks. I got this on recommendation from Ms. Jennifer Wan who does YouTube and a blog spot
It has very similar colour payoff to Nars "Orgasm" if your looking for an affordable dupe.
4.3g for $7

ANNABELLE EYESHADOW QUAD IN "CHAI CHAI CHAI"- I love this quad because it's great for everyday use and it's a grab and go kind of item for busy mom's like me. The colours have excellent pigmentation and are silky smooth to apply. Simple and beautiful. I think Annabelle did an amazing job with this series of quads. 7.2g/$11

PHYSICIANS FORMULA MINERAL WEAR TALC-FREE AIRBRUSHING PRESSED POWDER- Despite the name being far to long I love this powder. It really does finish off your look nicely, with a smooth flawless canvas. Its a breeze to use with a puff or brush. It last several hours and may only need a touch up in the t-zone. If you suffer from hyperpigmentation or rosacea this is great for covering that as well, along with the "Super BB." Also all of PF products are non irritating and fragrance free.:)

MAYBELLINE LASH STILETTO MASCARA WATERPROOF BLACKEST BLACK- I still love the Rocket mascara, but this Stiletto mascara has stolen my heart I love the sexy black & red tube, but the product is beautiful and gives my lashes the look I want which is define, a little length and good separation. I love the brush on this mascara as well. Also because it's waterproof it does not budge at all the whole time I wear it, but washes off fairly easy.

PHYSICIANS FORMULA SHIMMER STRIPS EYELINER IN BRONZE BROWN-
This is a favourite because it's not quite black, but dark and rich enough to still give the eye definition. Its so easy to apply because it glides on effortlessly without any noticeable drag. I can get into my lashes and do a phenomenal tight line with this pencil. Also incredibly long wearing. The other plus is that it's mechanical, no sharpening required. You get 3 to a pack for $12 (I think)

and last

REVLON SUPER LUSTROUS LIPSTICK (MATTE) SMOKED PEACH- I have lots of lipsticks and gloss, but I always come back to my tried and true. I love everything about Smoked Peach and its wearable in my eyes year round. If you have not tried this colour you really need to. I also think it would be complimentary to so many skin tones. It wears for several hours, fades out evenly and is creamy even though its matte and doesn't dry out my lips like other matte formulas.

Hope you enjoyed seeing my favourites and let me know in the comments what your favourite staple items are;)

ANNABELLE BIG SHOW LIP GLOSSES

I have to admit I find it so much harder to do a review that is not going to be positive. So I am going to try to keep it short here.

THESE LIP GLOSSES WERE GIFTED TO ME

I had BIG hopes for Annabelle's big show lip glosses.

The two colours I received are SHOUT and POUT, both of which look very welcoming in the tube and on the swatch.

 POUT

 SHOUT

I think that the BIG SHOW lip glosses are just that, a big show. I don't feel that they deliver on top quality colour payoff and I find them very oily on the lip. I understand this may help moisturize the lips, but its not a pleasant feeling, however at least they don't feel tacky. Then we have where the biggest problem occurs with this product. You know that smell of a wet popsicle stick after your done your popsicle? YUP that's exactly the smell coming from these lip glosses. I have had several other people smell it as well whom feel the same way about this gloss. That being said this is enough that no matter if I like the colour I will sadly not be reaching for these lip glosses again.

I do surely hope Annabelle will see to it to correct this problem. It's one thing to be fragrance free, but an unpleasant smell due to maybe an ingredient can be just as much of a put off as a lip product that is overly fragrant.

Also I was not a fan of SHOUT in terms of the colour payoff and I was hoping POUT would be ok because I loved the colour in the tube. I counted and it took me layering 6 coats to get it visible enough on my lip for the actual colour to show up adequately.

To follow up as well I even tried them again by applying a bit of concealer to the lip prior to the gloss and still did not make much difference.

I have other products from Annabelle such as their eyeshadows which I really like, but this was definitely not a strong point for their makeup collection.

There are 12 colour options in this collection and are 3ml
They sell for $9.95 CAD

ANY OF YOU TRIED THESE GLOSSES? IF SO WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS. DID YOU FIND A COLOUR TO LOVE? WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE SMELL????

THANKS FOR READING

ANNABELLE COSMETIC MULTI-BRONZE PALETTE FOR SUMMER 2013

Hi everyone,

So now that we are finally arriving into the summer months Its time for this girl to bust out the bronzers. I am such a huge fan of bronzers, but they have to be a true tan affect, not a nasty artificial orange faked over baked look. To me there is nothing sexier then a subtle sun kissed glow. Sometimes achieving that can be difficult for some and you look more like someone has thrown very clay based mud at your face.

Today I am reviewing Annabelle's multi-bronze palette that just released and it's a beauty. It offers 5 tan enhancing shades that will blend seamlessly together to create that gorgeous natural glow.

As you can see the palette it self is a work of art and being such a fan of butterflies that drew me in right away. Actually for a long time a few years back my go to eyeshadow trio use to be Annabelle's AMAZON. It was the perfect neutral trio with a beige, champagne beige and a muted green that were just great all around for everyday use and the colour payoff is very good.

So this bronzer has gradient colour and when mixed together creates a gorgeous finish sure to please. I like this palette because it's not to rich. Bronzers in general can be a touchy subject and you have to pick accordingly to your natural skin as well as understanding your own skin when it tans, if you tan.
This bronzer gives a nice glowy sheen without it being to over illuminating so your not lite up like a light bulb. Any bronzer no matter how dark can be sheered out to look more natural. So don't load your brush to much and dust lightly. Don't overly rub it into your face and hold your bronzing brush closer to the end away from your face as not to overload the colour.

Annabelle products are very affordable and offer a wealth of benefits such as
being dermatologist tested, hypo-allergenic, paraben free, perfume free and gluten free. These are all a bonus to me as I have sensitive skin and the less filler in a product the better. However be aware this is a talc based product for those who are not a fan of such ingredient.

This palette is very generous at 12.7g which is almost 3g more then most bronzer compacts and was a mere $11 which is excellent for the amount you get and the quality of the product.

If this product interests you or you would like to see more of Annabelle's product line please check them out at a Canadian store such as SHOPPER'S DRUG MART or you can now go on line and check them out at
