ESSENCE LONG LASTING LIPSTICKS (NEW COLOURS)

Welcome back to Makeup'Asylum,

I hope you are all having a good day.

There are some new colours in the Long Lasting lipstick collection from Essence. I have already mentioned before that I enjoy the Essence product line and find their lipstick's to be good quality for the price of $2.99 CAD at 3.8g. The long lasting lipsticks apply smoothly, have a good amount of pigmentation and stay on for several hours of wear time before needing reapplication. Just keep in mind that if your eating and snacking frequently it will come off sooner. I have three new shades to share today.

13 LOVE ME
This is a nice Spring/Summer colour falling into the coral tone family, but not quite as intense as it's sister colour called "coral calling".

15 OH SO MATT!
This is proving to be a popular colour as it runs a true nude with a very small tinge of peachy undertone. There was only one left where I bought mine. I like this colour and many others like it, because they are easy colours to wear on the daily.

20 GET THE LOOK
This is a gorgeous milky pink lipstick. It is like a paler version of Mac's St Germain. I find this particular colour needs a few passes over the lips to build up the intensity.

ESSENCE METAL GLAM EYESHADOW (LIMITED EDITION)

Hi all,

Have you caught a glimpse of the new limited edition Essence "Metal Glam" collection. There are several products to choose from such as eyeshadow, lipgloss, nail polish, highlighter, cream blush, nail stickers and nail jewels.
For me personally I could have bought a few different things in the collection, but opted to keep it simple and only bought the eyeshadow's because they are what really spoke to me. I love eyeshadow that has any type of foil or metallic finish so this was in the bag.
TAKE A LOOK AT ALL 3 COLOURS TOGETHER (there is a fourth colour, but that was not at my store, it is silver, which I don't need anyway.)
 PHOTO HEAVY

PETAL TO THE METAL

GOLDEN EYE

STEEL-ING THE SCENE

L2R- STEEL-ING THE SCENE, PETAL TO THE METAL & GOLDEN EYE

My personal opinion is that Steel-ing the scene is the clear winner here in terms of colour payoff and the name very befitting. However I did swatch without primer of any kind. They apply nicely with little fall out and are quite buttery in texture. I love this collection of eyeshadow's and look forward to playing with these colours further.

You get 2.5g for $3 CAD each

DID YOU BUY ANY ESSENCE METAL GLAM PRODUCTS????

THANKS EVERYONE, COME BACK AGAIN SOON
XOXO:)

MY FAVORITE PRODUCTS THAT I USE DAILY

HI EVERYONE,

Today I thought I would share with you all, some of my favourite staple items that I reach for almost everyday. The only time I use other products is if I am doing eye looks for pictures, photographing products for blogs or going somewhere that requires a certain day or night look.

PHYSICIANS FORMULA SUPER BB- This is the very first thing I put on my face after washing it in the morning. It is in the colour Light/Medium and gives my face a dewy flawless finish without making my face look like a mask. 35ml is $22

ESSENCE STAY ALL DAY 16HR CONCEALER- By far the best concealer I have personally used, but I have not used any high end so I may be limiting myself. However for the price you can't beat the coverage, lasting power and it has a nice cream consistency that is not to thick. 7ml for $4

MAYBELLINE FIT ME BLUSH "MEDIUM CORAL"- This blush has become my fave as I am not normal a fan of blush entirely so this has worked out well. I still love my PF happy booster blush just as much I tend to go back and forth between the two. This gives just a perfect kiss of colour without looking like an old crazy cat lady with to much rouge on her cheeks. I got this on recommendation from Ms. Jennifer Wan who does YouTube and a blog spot
It has very similar colour payoff to Nars "Orgasm" if your looking for an affordable dupe.
4.3g for $7

ANNABELLE EYESHADOW QUAD IN "CHAI CHAI CHAI"- I love this quad because it's great for everyday use and it's a grab and go kind of item for busy mom's like me. The colours have excellent pigmentation and are silky smooth to apply. Simple and beautiful. I think Annabelle did an amazing job with this series of quads. 7.2g/$11

PHYSICIANS FORMULA MINERAL WEAR TALC-FREE AIRBRUSHING PRESSED POWDER- Despite the name being far to long I love this powder. It really does finish off your look nicely, with a smooth flawless canvas. Its a breeze to use with a puff or brush. It last several hours and may only need a touch up in the t-zone. If you suffer from hyperpigmentation or rosacea this is great for covering that as well, along with the "Super BB." Also all of PF products are non irritating and fragrance free.:)

MAYBELLINE LASH STILETTO MASCARA WATERPROOF BLACKEST BLACK- I still love the Rocket mascara, but this Stiletto mascara has stolen my heart I love the sexy black & red tube, but the product is beautiful and gives my lashes the look I want which is define, a little length and good separation. I love the brush on this mascara as well. Also because it's waterproof it does not budge at all the whole time I wear it, but washes off fairly easy.

PHYSICIANS FORMULA SHIMMER STRIPS EYELINER IN BRONZE BROWN-
This is a favourite because it's not quite black, but dark and rich enough to still give the eye definition. Its so easy to apply because it glides on effortlessly without any noticeable drag. I can get into my lashes and do a phenomenal tight line with this pencil. Also incredibly long wearing. The other plus is that it's mechanical, no sharpening required. You get 3 to a pack for $12 (I think)

and last

REVLON SUPER LUSTROUS LIPSTICK (MATTE) SMOKED PEACH- I have lots of lipsticks and gloss, but I always come back to my tried and true. I love everything about Smoked Peach and its wearable in my eyes year round. If you have not tried this colour you really need to. I also think it would be complimentary to so many skin tones. It wears for several hours, fades out evenly and is creamy even though its matte and doesn't dry out my lips like other matte formulas.

Hope you enjoyed seeing my favourites and let me know in the comments what your favourite staple items are;)

ESSENCE MINI HAUL AND REVIEW

Hi everyone,

Just thought I would share a few eyeshadows and lipsticks from Essences with you.

I find Essence to be affordable fun colours for everyone.

(All eyeshadow swatches are done with a primer) The first of 4 eyeshadow single pans I wanted to share is

#56 HYPED UP
This eyeshadow is a vibrant grape soda purple sure to please those looking for high impact colour. Purple for me lately has been a disappointment from varying brands, so this was a refreshing change that the colour payoff was actually decent.

However the one company that offers a comparable and impressive purple quad palette is Sedona Lace in their Babe collection (due check it out as well).

#62 JOHN LEMON

Not quite the Beatles, but sure is a stand out rocking lemon yellow shadow no less. I like that you can sheer this one out and even use it to highlight the brow bone, or build it up to really show the yellow pigment.

John Lemon has a nice golden yellow shimmer once applied to the skin

#30 HAPPY HOUR
Pour yourself a "Blue Lagoon" and get your eyes party ready with this beautiful blue that will have all eyes on you. A soft gentle blue with just the right amount of shimmer and pairs beautifully with the richness of "Hyped Up"

HAPPY HOUR has very similar colour quality to Maybelline's colour tattoo in the limited edition colour "Icy Mint"

#11 WILD AT HEART

I think dark navy eyeshadow is so sexy if applied right and done as an alternative to the basic black and grey toned smoky eye look. It does have a touch of shimmer, but not enough to even discourage those who are a bit older and prefer more matte eyeshadows.

Lastly for eyeshadow is one colour from the FANTASY QUAD which is an unusual colour that's a deep blue/green

This colour and "Happy Hour" tend to have a strong foil finish. So if that's what you like grab yourself some of these beautiful eyeshadows today.

I love that they are also only $2.49 CAD

Essence website shows they offer 15 different single pans all of which availability will vary depending on where you buy yours.

To finish up today's review I have two lipsticks the first is

#57 MORE TO LOVE
This colour looks very dark and berry toned in the tube, but once applied is more a glossy berry tone with sparkle in it, which is ok, but surprisingly I have not been loving as much as of late. At one time I wanted sparkle in everything, but sometimes you need to put the brakes on and really think about that especially once you are getting older. There is a time and place for everything, sadly even sparkle. One other thing with sparkle lip stick or even sparkle gloss you feel the grit from the sparkle and I hate that, I'm sure some of you know what I am talking about.

MORE TO LOVE

RED CARPET

Red Carpet is ultra red and super creamy on the lips. This to me is a red that should be in your collection, keep in mind that it does have an orange undertone.
That is also the other thing with sparkle lip stick or even gloss you feel the grit from the sparkle and I hate that.

My favorite thing about Essence lipsticks is that they smell like candy. Essence lipsticks due bleed a bit and last a standard amount of time if your eating or drinking.

Lipsticks are aprox.$2.99 CAD

For the most part I enjoy Essence brand and there products are good for those on a budget. I do highly recommend their eyeshadows. I own about a dozen now and really have no complaints, some colours are a little chalky, but hey! nothing in this world is perfect.

I noticed on Essence website they have about 10 lipsticks available, 5 of which are new shades so check it out at

or find a Shoppers Drug Mart location near you for a selection of Essence products as it seems this brand is exclusive to Shoppers.

Thanks for reading as always and

MAYBELLINE COLOR TATTOO, GOSH POLISH, ESSENCE NAIL STAMP KIT

HI TO ALL,

Today is just a random review of some odd ball items I have picked up a long the way and wanted to share.

So after trying three other Maybelline color tattoo's I had hope to snag two of the limited edition one's which would have been "Waves Of White" and "Icy Mint," but to no avail I have not been able to locate them near me. So the regular colours were on sale for $4.99 at SHOPPERS DRUG MART so I just grabbed the colour EDGY EMERALD. It too is also a very nice colour but also it's been out for a while now and I am sure many other people have already reviewed it.

I do see the green tones, but when I think emerald, I think like the Emerald City in the "Wizard of OZ", to me this colour is more a bluish/green, not a true green. The birthstone Emerald is another good example, which is what also comes to mind. I do think this will easily fit in with many of the eyeshadows I already have. I do like using the colour tattoo's alone or as a base to amp up other shadows. Its a very good multi-use product and I recommend it for people who don't have a lot of time for makeup but want a splash of colour on the lid before heading out. .14oz/4g

***JUST A QUICK UPDATE JULY 15****
I find out of all the color tattoo's I have bought this one is least favorable as it tends to apply poorly and has a drier consistency then any of the other's and it does glide on nice and creamy.

The next item is a new nail polish colour to the GOSH cosmetics line. The nail polishes are now called "OH MY GOSH" and the colour I chose is OCEAN CLUB. This is a chunky glitter that is good for top coats over your favorite blue or green nail polish. It has a mix of true green and rich blue glitter and is very fun for more aquatic takes on summer polish.

The bottles are only $4 but you only get 5ml so they are mini size.
The prepack that was available at my SHOPPERS DRUG MART had about 10-12 different colours to choose from.

If you'd like to see a pic of it on just click the INSTAGRAM tab on the side bar. The pic shows what it looks like on top of a light blue metallic polish. Quite a nice combo.

Lastly I am new to the world of this nail stamping craze and I am not always the most patient person, so I don't know if this will be a good marriage. However I thought I would start small, so I got a mini set by Essence. The kit came with the scraping tool, a metal disk with several designs on it and the rubber stamper.

I say for the price this is a decent fun little kit. Just make sure to peel the cover off the metal plate, because like a loser I thought it wasn't working and was ready to take it back, only to realize it was all because there is a thin film protecting the plate. So remember PEEL then PLAY lol.

I haven't done a full set of nails with this yet as I have been busy with many other things and don't always have the time. So if you too are new to the world of nail stamping then get this, its a good starting point for novice nail stampers. I see so many beautiful looks on Instagram, but just never seem to find the time to try it out myself.

So if your NEW to nail stamping as well I will give you a quick 101 on what you do.

1. Peel plastic cover off metal disk;)
2. Decide which design you want to use
3. Put a generous drop/s of nail polish on that design
4. Scrape the excess off with the scraping tool
5. Take rubber stamp and press down firmly to pick up image on stamp
6. Start at the side of the nail and sort of press and roll to the other side, but don't drag or the image will smudge. When you pick up the stamp the image should be nicely applied on the nail.

So that's the easiest way I can explain how to do nail stamping. Keep in mind you can do all your nails or even just an accent nail. Just have fun with it.

Essence products are carried at SHOPPERS DRUG MART
this kit was only $3.99. So find a location near you and shop today

PHYSICIANS FORMULA, BIODERMA, EOS, ESSENCE, SOAP & GLORY

Hi everyone,

Lately I have been creeping around "Shopper's Drug Mart" a lot just to see what's new or pick up things I have yet to try so that's what I am covering today a few items just because.

So everyone under the sun seems to be talking EOS (Evolution Of Smooth) lip balms and to think how many times I have dashed past them with out giving them a second thought or was I?
I think some of the finer points about this product is the fact they are 100% natural, 95% Organic, and paraben as well as petroleum free. The other thing that makes these balms enticing to us is the simple savvy design of the packaging, it has that nice feeling when in hand and looks quite cute just sitting there and I have already thought about several reuses for this smart sphere. My pick is SWEET MINT, anything mint is a huge turn on for me as I am also a big fan of Bath and Body works "Mentha Lip." I like a product that acts as dual purpose such as softening my lips and freshening my breath throughout the day.
SWEET MINT .25oz and was on sale for $3.50

I sure am glad this balm worked out unlike some previous purchases. My lesson was learnt when I decided to ambush the baby lips world and buy a whole slew on sale only to end up hating them. So now its one at a time and if I like then I will try other flavours. I do like this product and its quality shows. However a few years back when EOS first came out I purchased the shave cream in Pomegranate Raspberry and that was a total flop for me. I did not enjoy that product I felt for the price I was expecting more and it just merely seemed to me like I was shaving with a bottle of standard lotion which I DON'T prefer.

Moving a long the next item is BIODERMA. I will start by saying that this is not a budget friendly product coming in at $22 for 250ml. I picked the Sensibio h2o solution micellaire . This product is for sensitive skin and cleanses, removes make-up and soothes the skin. It says it is a non-rinse but I still do after. It is also fragrance free.

The main reason I purchased this product is because I wanted a good overall eye makeup remover and this is it. A small amount takes a lot off, so I guess it pays for itself that way because it lasts a long time. I have a separate routine for cleaning my entire face so that's why its lasting longer for me personally. Also this Bioderma product was the winner of Chatelaine's beauty 100 products for being one of the top five best makeup removers for 2012.
So even though more pricey then I would like to spend I trust this product and its effectiveness and hope you will try it and love it too.

I have always loved the look of Physicians Formula products and for a long time had to admire them from a far because there were times I was not in a position to drop $20 on a compact for my own pleasure.
Now times have changed and I have some room to buy some better quality products every so often. So there was a great deal at my local Walmart most of the items were literally 40% off. I was astounded as I never see Physicians Formula ever go that cheap. So I would have loved to drop a truck load on a bunch of stuff but I just blew through a bunch of cash over the week end so I just grabbed the one bronzer I had been eyeing for some time now. That is the BRONZE BOOSTER DELUXE EDITION airbrushing bronzing veil. The bronzer it self is such a beautiful product and the time and quality put into creating the lovely embossed detail in the bronzer itself is worth the purchase alone. I also love the compact and even the brush is quite nice and decent quality as most included brushes with products usually aren't to hot.
A stunning piece of makeup art

The compact has a separate bottom compartment to hold your brush when not in use, this is great for travel in the makeup bag.

So this is a medium/dark bronzer but it does not blend on the skin that way it gives a stunning beautiful glow thanks to it's intuitive glow activators and this product will also help extend the life of your existing tan if you have one. When buying bronzer do not be intimidated by how rich it seems in the package. Remember this rule of thumb no matter the bronzer if used correctly any shade can be sheered out to work on your skin just don't be heavy handed with it.
I should also mention that all of Physicians Formula products have nothing in them that will irritate skin, they are gentle and pure and are completely hypoallergenic.
I give this bronzer a 5/5

The next couple of items I got on CLEARANCE which is OFF YOUR FACE CLEANSING CLOTHES BY SOAP & GLORY
These are good for removing makeup and just cleaning up your face before bed. I feel a slight tingle which I like as it makes me feel they are grabbing the dirt out of my pores and my skin feels a little tighter which I also like. Got a 25 pack on sale for $4.99 each wipe reminds me a lot of the baby wipes sold under Walmarts private label.

Also in the makeup clearance section I found this pretty little package and anything that is a dusting powder with fine sparkle I am in. So this is by Essence it's called CHERRY BLOSSOM GIRL shimmering body powder.

If you have read any of my previous posts I have mentioned Essence products before and I do enjoy them a lot. I also have stated I love glitter and sparkle as well and this shimmer is just doing it for me. Yes in my hand it looks intense but applied properly to an area like your décolletage this is a show stopper. The beauty of this is I got it for $2.50 and it even has a sweet little powder puff with it that just amps up the overall package.

This next item I also received in a gift bag of goodies for a donation I made and the item is L'Oreal double extend eye illuminator supposedly for green eyes but hey for me anything is fine.

I have not actually tested this out yet, but either way it doesn't matter because it basically was free any way. I know this product has been out for quite a while, but its still fun to try things and just because it may be old to someone else it may be new to me because I haven't tried it. I will try to update on this product at a later time.
I am not sure how I feel about that barbaric looking wand on the bronze end, but we shall see I suppose.

Last but not least is a body butter by SpaRetreat called SUGAR KISS

I bought this because when I smelt it the first thing that came to mind was my perfume Auqolina's Pink Sugar. I am crazy about that scent so being very similar I purchased it to layer with Pink Sugar. The big bonus here is that it is a full size jar of body butter and I got it on clearance for a $1.50.  Now that's a great bargain.
However I haven't even used it yet and hope that it stays smelling as good on the skin as it does in the jar. Simple delicious candy smell, simplistic but cute packaging and ultra great price, what more do you want.

I always have a lot of fun reviewing a mini haul like this. It allows others to see many different products that might or might not be right for them, but they would never realize it if no one bothers to talk about it. I don't think cosmetics and body products should be about just liking a current trend I prefer to get things I know will be timeless or at least appealing to me for a long time. Everyone of us has to find our own unique space in the cosmetic world there is to much scent and colour out there to only love just a few.

On that note till we meet again.....

STAY BEAUTIFUL :)
