MAYBELLINE COLOR SENSATIONAL MATTE LIPSTICKS

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all having a good day. Wow! looks like I have another new review for you all. I have had a little spike in purchasing some new items this past 2 weeks and of course it's always fun to share my thoughts on the good and the bad of the makeup world.
So lets hop right in!

MAYBELLINE MATTE IN 655 DARINGLY NUDE
4.2G AVERAGE PRICE IS $10 GOT MINE ON SALE FOR $5.99

I have always enjoyed Maybelline lipsticks and the mattes in this collection are no exception. What I like most is that the matte finish itself doesn't look overly dry on the lips as with other brands and they actually feel very comfortable on the lips, there is still some moisture present.
I have always been a fan of nude lips over the years, so daringly nude was a perfect purchase and a simple colour to wear everyday.

I would purchase this again, if I ever get through the many other lipsticks I already have.

Swatch was taken in direct sunlight

You can easily top this with a nude lipgloss or even one with a hint of shimmer if you don't always want to wear it straight up matte.

I also found within my own lipstick collection the closets comparable brands and shades would be

- Milani's colour statement lipstick in Nude Creme
-Rimmel lasting finish lipstick 70 Airy Fairy

Also Maybelline's The Buffs lipstick in Nude Lust is a good "alternative" not a dupe.

Bare in mind that the colours I mentioned are not matte finish but are very similar in colour. You can mattify any lipstick with a light dusting of translucent powder.

MAYBELLINE MATTE 665 LUST FOR BLUSH

This colour came off a lot brighter then I was expecting, but that is not a bad thing, it's beautiful. For those that don't know if you want a toned down version of this shade be sure to check out the COLOR WHISPER also called Lust For Blush which has been out for a long time, same tone but just a gentle wash of colour on the lip instead.

SWATCHED IN THE SUNLIGHT

The only lipsticks I found in my collection that were close, but not exact would be

-Revlon super lustrous lipstick in 660 Berry Haute which is a creme finish (this colour is a little more deeper with a stronger purple undertone)
- Essence long lasting lipstick 9 Wear Berries (this one is a little lighter and maybe a hair pinker)

That being said these were both good purchases as I have nothing in my collection that I can say is an exact match which is a good thing when you already have to many lipsticks.

SIDE NOTE: I have been noticing that the price of a lot of the drug store lipsticks, just seem to keep going up (here in Canada any way), which is not cool, but hey! what can ya do??? except sit back complain and then if your anything like me, you know in the end you'll still buy them any way *sigh*

On that note, have a great day everyone, hope you found this review helpful

REVLON LIPSTICK HAUL AND LIP BUTTERS

It's not often that Revlon lipstick's or the lip butter's go on sale as low as $3.99, which they did about a week or so back. That being said I took full advantage and have a few to share with you all today.

The first two are matte finishes

001- NUDE ATTITUDE
This colour is a very beige nude with a hint of peach undertone. It is quite like a concealer and that's just me telling it like it is. It's wearable, but if you hate that look of bare lips then I don't advise this colour. However I love nude's and you can make it work by adding a pale coloured gloss over top.

011- STORMY PINK
Stormy Pink is a perfectly pink matte lipstick and I love it as much as Revlon's matte lipstick "Pink Pout". The difference is this is a bit more of a deeper, richer pink with blue undertones.
I have had several compliments since purchasing and wearing this shade. Hope you will all try it too.
It also photographs nicely.

The next three are all crème finish

415-PINK IN THE AFTERNOON
After I got home and took a better look at all the lipsticks I realized three of them are only a mere shade different and almost look all alike. So make sure to compare colours side by side if you can in store if testers are available. I like this colour because it's a rose type shade with a subtle burnt orange undertone. I know that sounds odd considering its called "pink in the afternoon."

677- SIREN
Siren is a great get you ready for summer colour. For a long time I wasn't purchasing a lot of cosmetics I fell out of the loop and had lost touch with what was out there and colours that have been on the market for a while now have become new gems to me. This colour looks great against tan skin and all the crème lipsticks are very emollient on the lips. I find these a bit better for someone like me who tends to have dry or chapped lips very easily. Siren does not wear as bright as what you see in the tube.

510-BERRY RICH
Berry Rich is the darkest of the three shades (blushing mauve and pink in the afternoon). They are the shades I find to be very close in colour family. It has a wine burgundy feel in the tube and in dim light, but seems much redder in the swatch under lamp light. I think now after seeing how close in colour these lipsticks are I do have a bit of buyers remorse. I probably would have passed on purchasing this one and "pink in the afternoon." As they are not really different enough to warrant the purchase.

460- BLUSHING MAUVE (pearl finish)
Again this is another very flattering colour that I have had compliments on. It's surprising how we all discover new products that have literally been there for ages, they just tend to get overlooked because the focus tends to shine mostly on new releases. This colour is very similar to "Pink in the Afternoon." Blushing Mauve is just a bit more to the berry tone side making it a tad darker. I think this is a very year round friendly colour and can work for many skin tones.

REVLON LIP BUTTER'S

055- CUPCAKE
Cupcake is a great candy, bubble gum, icing, cotton candy pink that sheers out and gives the lips a delicious pale pink mod look to the lips. If you really sheer it out it just leaves a shine behind with very little colour, if that's what you prefer.

090-SWEET TART
This colour makes me think of the deeper pink cherry blossom's and has a very bright and vibrant finish that shows up a lot better then cupcake. Don't get me wrong cupcake works great on days when you want to keep things minimal, but Sweet Tart is a little more jazzy and upbeat. I find you can really build sweet tart's colour. To me lip butters and lip stains are like water colour paint for your lips.

I hope you have all enjoyed reading this review, and maybe discovered a new colour or two that you may want to try.

REVLON MATTE LIPSTICKS AND ANOTHER SUPER LUSTROUS GLOSS (NEW COLOUR)

As mentioned at the end of my previous blog on Revlon lipstick and glosses I said I would be reviewing two of the matte lipsticks and here we are.
For good measure I also bought another new colour in the Super Lustrous Gloss line as well.

So getting started Shoppers Drug Mart had a sale on the Revlon matte lipsticks for $6.99. However moving forward to today they also have them at Walmart and their everyday price is $6.97.:/ Just some food for thought readers.

Any way the first colour I picked was 002 PINK POUT. If you love matte lipstick and are on the hunt for an affordable perfect nude pink then this is the one. I can honestly say it's been years since I used a Mac lipstick, but in retrospect I can say comfortably that these lipsticks are similar. I feel this is a close dupe to Mac's "Pink Plaid" matte lipstick.

The only other lipstick I love equally as much that is a nude pink but not a matte formulation is NYX creamy round lipstick called "POWER."
The one thing I have to focus on is moisturizing my lips nightly to ensure a flawless application of matte lipstick. I tend to get dry chapped lips easily so it takes some work. There is nothing I dislike more then opaque coloured lipstick that is caking around the flaky dry skin on a persons lips.

The other colour I chose from this matte line is absolutely stunning and will be one of my staple colours for summer, that is SMOKED PEACH. This is the kind of lipstick I can see myself reaching for daily and not getting tired of it. I find it daunting when you enjoy a product so much only to discover one day they are discontinuing it, which seems to be the story of my life with cosmetics. So a second tube of this might be in order, not saying it's being discontinued, just covering all bases.

This peach colour is so pretty on the lips and is not super bright, its much more muted when seen in person. It can easily wear day or night and on a variety of skin tones as well.

So if your looking for some sexy matte lipsticks to officially kick off your summer, then head to a store near you such as Shopper's Drug Mart, Walmart, PharmaPlus, etc.

The last item is another new colour from the Super Lustrous glosses that recently came out. I always love that soft, gentle, barely there pink gloss. A gloss that just gives the lips a wet look with a subtle kiss of colour. That's what your going to get with Revlon's gloss in the colour SNOW PINK

Pale with a very fine gold sparkle throughout.

I do for the most part like the way these glosses wear throughout the day, but do need touch ups. The only dislike I have is that the ones with sparkle in them tend to feel a bit gritty when I press my lips together. So just be aware. They do have cream formulations also if your not a fan of any glitter or sparkle.

So all the items shown here were $6.99
Gloss is 3.2g
Lipsticks are 4.2g

Let me know in the comments what your favorite lipstick colours are from Revlon or if you plan to try any of the one's I mentioned here.
Thanks for reading and....

************NYX PART 2 FACE & NAIL POLISH***************

Good day everyone,

So getting on with part two of my NYX series today is only a few items and lets not waste any time.

Even though I really love my bb creams I am still always willing to try other brands, products and foundations. Yeah no kidding hence why I am doing blogs;p

So I decided to give NYX foundation a go which is the STAY MATTE BUT NOT FLAT. It is oil free, water based, full coverage, mineral enriched with a matte finish no doubt.

Let me start by saying that this is the totally wrong color for me and I had a feeling I should have went lighter. However I do like the yellow base to this foundation because it does tone down the redness in my skin. That being said I did try and wear this yesterday just to be able to say my overall thoughts of the product. I realize that even though I have very oily skin I am not a fan of matte makeup. I feel that once my own oils meld with matte makeup it just looks worse and because the color is wrong it just made my face look awful. I also found that this felt heavy on my skin which I also don't like.
I think what I will do is use it as more of a corrector for red spots under my usual foundation. I don't think I would repurchase this product its not for me, but it may work for someone with very normal skin. In the future I will probably try NYX HD foundation and see how that is and will surely pick a much lighter shade.
This matte foundation comes in a squeeze tube which is .35g/1.23oz which is pretty standard for face makeup. I paid $10.99 or it's $7.50 U.S in the shade 03 NATURAL

Next up is a blush in the color 25 PINCHED. Now I have read several places but specifically Karen who runs the blog MAKEUP AND BEAUTY spoke about this blush that its very similar to the NARS ORGASM. I do see that from the many pictures I have looked at, as I for one don't own Nars because I feel its to overpriced at $32 for a blush, that's just me. Not saying I wouldn't like to try their products I just can't justify spending that money on a couple of items.

The thing I like most about this blush is that it has such a nice glow to it and makes for a lovely sheen on the skin, but please don't get heavy handed with this product as it stands out a lot on the cheek or cheek bone area. On the swatch it didn't show up as well as I would have liked, but it is quite pigmented. It is .14oz/4g and cost $8.99 or $5.00 U.S and both sites offer 24 shades.

Lastly is what seems to be a very popular topic for most ladies out there is NAIL POLISH.
NYX has their salon formula polish in a staggering 144 different colors and finishes.
My picks are 114 SURF and 187 MAUVE both colors are Spring/Summer ready and complimentary to each other. So have fun with it and mix them up.
SURF
                                                        No flash
                                                      With flash

This color is the perfect blue with a nice subtle iridescent finish to it. Makes me want to dive into the ocean, but since I don't live near one a pool will have to do;P

                                                            MAUVE
Flash

I really like the nice high shine finish with this nail polish and I did wear both colors on my one hand to see how well it wears and through several hand washings and numerous house hold tasks it did hold up nicely.
These are full size bottles at .52oz/15ml and are very reasonably priced at $5.99 or $4.00 U.S
LOTS of fun colors to be had in this line.

ENJOY THE BEAUTIFUL WEATHER HERE IN THE GTA OR ANY WHERE YOU MAY BE WHERE THERE IS LOTS OF WARM SUN SHINE.

THE SUN IS ONE OF NATURES FINEST COSMETICS GIVING US MUCH NEEDED VITAMIN D. JUST DON'T OVER DO IT WITH SUN EXPOSURE AS A SUN LOVED FACE IS A FACE SURE TO WRINKLE FASTER.

TOMORROW IS PART 3 AND IS ABOUT GLITTER AND SHIMMER FOR THE EYES
