MILANI MOISTURE MATTE LIPSTICKS

WELCOME, BACK! TODAY IS MILANI MONDAY,

I am sure your not surprised that I am doing yet another lip product review for you all. Today lets take a look at three of the Milani matte lipsticks.

I would say Milani Matte lipsticks are by far one of the most comfortable matte lipsticks to wear and do not feel like they are sucking the moisture out of my lips. These wear for a long time, on days when I am too busy and skip lunch (I know bad, bad, tsk, tsk on me) these lipsticks stay in place, with no touch up needed. I love that Milani matte lipsticks are infused with grape seed oil imported from Italy, but I am curious if it's pure, organic or cold pressed?

FACT- Did you know that grape seed oil contains twice as much vitamin e as Olive oil?
no wonder my lips feel so good when I wear it.

Milani moisture matte lipsticks are available in 8 shades, I imagine with time they will expand the collection or at least that is my hope. In Canada, Milani is sold at Loblaws, Great Canadian Super Store and online through Well.ca (link to their site is in the sidebar). EACH LIPSTICK IS 3.97G AND ARE $8 CAD

Also, I don't know if anyone has noticed on the Milani website, but under each colour of the matte lipstick's it says Vegan, so that's a big plus for those looking for that option in their makeup choices.

Here are the colours I picked up

60 INNOCENCE
A peachy nude that is a gentle light hue on the lips, but the colour applies evenly and does not wash out ones complexion. I find some other really light nude colours can almost look like the person is wearing concealer on the lips because even the undertones are too light, with Innocence I find the base colour is warmer even though it is the lightest shade in the range.

EDITORS CHOICE

61 NAKED

A beautiful mauve nude that is just perfect in every way and I have been reaching for this a whole lot this past couple of months. It really is that nude that is your lips, but better.

62 BLISSFUL
This pink truly has me swooning because it's the right pink. Blissful is not too dark or light, just a happy middle ground. It makes me think of a perfect cupcake frosting or the darker parts of pink cotton candy. Also, this one actually leaves a mild stain behind just a F.Y.I. I feel this is a pink that would be complimentary to a lot of different skin tones.

In closing, I love Milani Moisture Matte lipsticks and find it an excellent product, with little to complain about. The biggest upside is that Milani finally changed the scent which was something I wasn't a fan of before, now I adore that oh so sweet Vanilla tone. So big thumbs up to Milani on that much-needed improvement. The only thing I would like to see in time is different bullets, as I am not a huge fan of the shiny gold, but I know a lot of people like it. I just personally find it looks dated, even if that is not the intent.

HAVE YOU TRIED THE MILANI MATTES?
WHICH IS YOUR FAVE OF THE COLOUR SELECTION?

HOPE YOU ALL ENJOYED THIS MILANI MONDAY POST AND COME BACK SOON FOR MORE FROM MAKEUP'ASYLUM

COVERGIRL COLORLICIOUS NUDE LIPSTICKS

Welcome back and Happy Friday,

In the past I can say I haven't owned many CoverGirl items. I do like their fresh complexion pocket powder and the classic pressed powder for sensitive skin. The only other products I have used are a couple of single pan shadows and when I was in my late teens I only used the Professional lash mascara in the blue tube.
However CoverGirl has made revisions to there lipstick line and have some really gorgeous colours to choose from. The three I have to share today are all in the nude colour group, so lets take a look.

230 CREME
Creme is my least favourite of the three, it's a little to light for my liking. It is a milky nude with peachy pink undertones. Creme actually reminds me a lot of the Stila lipstick I reviewed called Meg. If your interested in that review you can read it HERE. I guess I can mix Creme with a lip gloss, lip pencil or darker lipstick to warm it up if I really want to wear it. I will say it does apply better then the Stila brand.

235 CHAMPAGNE
Champagne is a couple shades darker then Creme and is warmer nude. Champagne leans more of a richer peachy nude with some hints of light terracotta especially when you swatch it in person.

250 SULTRY SIENNA
Sultry Sienna at first glance in the tube seems like it will be quite dark, but as you will see in the picture it's not dark at all once on the lips. I would say this is a brown mauve shade and surprisingly ended up being my favourite

The bottoms of the tubes have the actual colour in them so you know what your getting.
Each lipstick is 3.5g and will run you about $10 CAD. I always wait for them to go on sale as the staying power isn't superb. The Colorlicious formula tends to be very emollient which is great for hydrating the lips and it does not feel heavy, but you will have to reapply often.

I think the colour payoff is quite good for being a more creamy formula due to the lip loving shea butter in them, with the exception of Creme. You will have to make many passes on the lips to get the colour really opaque, unless you prefer a more sheered out shade.

You can find CoverGirl most anywhere now a days and the Colorlicious range offers up Nudes, Reds, Plums and amazing Pinks. You can select from a generous 36 different shades.

I also have 265 Romance, 323 Delicious & 397 Yummy in the old packaging. Do let me know if you would like to see swatches of those as well, lipsticks are my favourite posts to do. I have a serious lip product problem, that is the biggest part of my makeup collection.

HAVE YOU BOUGHT ANY COVERGIRL COLORLICIOUS LIPSTICKS
ANY COLOUR'S YOU THINK I MIGHT LIKE? LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS

THANKS FOR READING AND HAVE A FAB WEEK-END

ESSENCE LONG LASTING LIPSTICKS (NEW COLOURS)

Welcome back to Makeup'Asylum,

I hope you are all having a good day.

There are some new colours in the Long Lasting lipstick collection from Essence. I have already mentioned before that I enjoy the Essence product line and find their lipstick's to be good quality for the price of $2.99 CAD at 3.8g. The long lasting lipsticks apply smoothly, have a good amount of pigmentation and stay on for several hours of wear time before needing reapplication. Just keep in mind that if your eating and snacking frequently it will come off sooner. I have three new shades to share today.

13 LOVE ME
This is a nice Spring/Summer colour falling into the coral tone family, but not quite as intense as it's sister colour called "coral calling".

15 OH SO MATT!
This is proving to be a popular colour as it runs a true nude with a very small tinge of peachy undertone. There was only one left where I bought mine. I like this colour and many others like it, because they are easy colours to wear on the daily.

20 GET THE LOOK
This is a gorgeous milky pink lipstick. It is like a paler version of Mac's St Germain. I find this particular colour needs a few passes over the lips to build up the intensity.

HAVE YOU SEEN THE NEW ESSENCE COLOURS AT A STORE NEAR YOU?
WHICH COLOUR IN THE ESSENCE LONG LASTING LINE IS YOUR FAVE?

ONCE AGAIN THANKS FOR STOPPING BY FOR A READ

****DISCLAIMER****
Any time I review products here at Makeup'Asylum this is just me sharing NEW products with you the reader. I am not here to have heated debates about  the products in mention. I don't mind friendly suggestions, but strongly advise against negativity, that is not why I am writing a blog. I like what I like and dislike what I want, that is a personal choice and to each their own. When you read here it should be for personal pleasure, insight, and enjoyment. This blog is not here to sell you on any one product.

STILA "MEG" LIPSTICK FROM NUDE INTERLUDE COLLECTION

Hi everyone & Happy Friday,

I have a busy day a head of me, but Friday's always seem to be that way around here.

Stila introduced the Nude Interlude Collection for Spring'15 to add to their already existing color balm line. These lip products can have the opacity of a lipstick, but feel like a balm on the lips. The color I chose was Meg, which is the lightest of all three nudes available.

STILA NUDE INTERLUDE LIPSTICK
COLOR-MEG
3.2G $25

So for me this was a blind buy as I did not physically see the lipstick in person. I had seen it on the well.ca website and then did some research and read some fairly positive reviews. So I decided to take the plunge and purchase "BIG MISTAKE!"

I will start by saying that I love the vanilla/mint scent/taste of these balm lipsticks and they do feel creamy when applying. Also I think the packaging is quite pretty with the silver and rose gold bullet. I find you do have to be careful putting the cap on as it's to close to the lipstick and can take a bit off if your not careful. However I find for the price the opacity is not great and maybe it just happens to be this colour because it is so light. I find it applies streaky and I don't get the coverage I prefer, even from a nude shade. Take Milani color statement lipsticks for example they have some very light nudes, but you still get the coverage with few passes over the lips.
Also because this is a balm lipstick it melts into the lips easily and therefore your applying a lot each time to build the color and often as it also has very minimal staying power. I find the several times I  have wore this balm lipstick I noticed how short the lipstick it self is already, it will probably be gone in no time.
Another thing is the colour swatched on my hand does not exactly transfer to the lips in the same colour. I find it looks way lighter on the lips, which you will see in a moment.

I guess over all I am not impressed with this product for how much it cost and I definitely have buyers remorse. I think to myself, I could have bought 3 or 4 drugstore lipsticks for that price, with better coverage and wear time *SIGH*

I don't like having to give such a negative review and I really wanted to love this lippy. If you the reader are maybe a person on a budget, such as myself, but want to treat yourself to one high end lipstick, I want you to make a sound choice and this would not be it. Your money is better spent elsewhere or saved in your wallet for that matter.

It's never a good thing when my very first experience with a brand and a high end one at that is not good, because I am less inclined to try anything else in the future.

THANKS FOR READING EVERYONE AND HAVE AN AMAZING WEEK-END

50% OFF REVLON SUPER LUSTROUS LIPSTICKS WOW

Hi everyone,

So to further my obsession with Revlon way back during the holidays my local Shoppers Drug Mart had a 50% off Revlon lip products event for 2 days only. It included all lipsticks, lip glosses and lip butters which I just posted a separate review on those recently. This time around I skipped on the glosses because I have a few from Revlon and haven't been reaching for them much. The glosses are gorgeous don't get me wrong, and with summer coming soon I will be wearing them more again and they will be getting some love for a change.
Moving along lets look at the two lipsticks I purchased
006 MATTE- REALLY RED & 477 CREME- BLACK CHERRY

 BLACK CHERRY

 MATTE REALLY RED

As you can see in the tube Black Cherry looks extremely intimidating, but not so once swatched. I did notice even though its a crème it does skip a little and you need to go back over it. Then you have the matte Really Red which is just gorgeous and the swatch was one back and forth motion if that helps express the amazing pigmentation on this one. I like Revlon's matte lipsticks because they don't feel drying on the lips like other brands I have tried in the past.

These were definitely worth adding to my arsenal of lipsticks what do you think?? What are your favourite colours from Revlon???

What a great buy they were $4.60 each

Thanks for checking in with Makeup'Asylum

XOXO:)

***NEW MAYBELLINE COLOUR SENSATIONAL "THE BUFFS" LIPSTICKS***

Hi everyone and Happy New Year,

Lots of new goodies coming out over the next couple of months and on January 14 here in Canada is the release of the new Maybelline Color Sensational "The Buffs" lipsticks. I was able to get a hold of the 3 colours I was after through a friend. So lets jump right in.

920 NUDE LUST- A gorgeous just right creamy nude with a slight peach undertone. This is a bit more beige then the L'Oreal J'Lo's Nude which has a more pink base from the Privee collection. So if your looking for a near perfect nude and missed the Privee collection then be sure to check out Nude Lust, plus Maybelline lipsticks smell way better.

930 TRUFFLE TEASE- I would say this colour and "Nude Lust" are also close in similarity, especially in the tube. However Truffle Tease tends to lean more of a rich caramel nude colour on the skin.

955 ESPRESSO EXPOSED- This is not nude by any means, but I like that Maybelline included this colour because it makes "The Buffs" collection more diverse for all skin types and tones. This is a totally gorgeous wine shade that does have very dark brown tones mixed with an amazing ox blood red. I cannot get enough of this colour.

I photographed this shade in two different light formats just to show the intensity of the colour it self.

If you missed out on getting Maybellines ColorSensational LE lipstick Midnight Plum which is a more purple this might be a good alternative. Here is a pic of the two side by side.

L2R-Espresso Exposed & Midnight Plum

Over all I do like this collection right down to even the tubes, the only two shades I was not really into was the lightest colour "Bare It All" that almost seemed so pale and opaque like concealer, but I imagine would be fun to use for a mod look. Also "Stormy Sahara" striked me as a little to much of a terracotta toned lipstick for my personal preference when I swatched it in person.
I feel this collection will sell extremely well because one thing is for sure most girls love Nude tones.

As mentioned this are due for release on January 14 in Canada and will run about $10 depending on where you purchase.

LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS IF YOUR EXCITED FOR THE RELEASE OF THIS COLLECTION. ANY OF MY U.S. FRIENDS PICK THESE UP YET???

THANKS FOR READING AND HAVE A GREAT FIRST DAY OF 2014

XOXO:)

I have a lot of products to share so I tried to condense some of it into groupings "ENJOY"

LIP PRODUCTS

Maybelline colour sensational limited edition fall, 1000 Lavender Voltage on left and colour sensational vivids in 860 PINK POP to the right. Also the limited edition colour sensational high shine lip gloss 290 Flash of Pink. The lipstick is super creamy and richly pigmented and wears well and fades evenly. The lip gloss gives beautiful sheer colour, very moisturizing and lots of shine.

Revlon lip butter in SUGAR PLUM is perfect for fall/winter it adds sexy glossiness to the lips and just the right amount of colour for anytime wearability.

Wet N Wild mega last lip colour in RAVIN'RAISIN a stunning semi-matte lip experience sure to please those who love big impact colour.

Rimmel Kate lasting finish lipstick  in 110 is a super gorgeous velvet matte lip colour that stays put and does not bleed or feather. This is a bright papaya/red that will bring your lips to life anytime of year.

NYX creamy round lipstick in STRAWBERRY MILK this is the most delectable ultra opaque light pink lipstick that makes me think of strawberry marshmallows, it is super hydrating, but does need to be reapplied often, but the colour range in this collection is amazing and totally affordable.

L'Oreal Collection Privee by J'Lo in J'Lo's Nude is bar none the ultimate perfect nude. The super chic and classy packaging is ideally what I would like to see from L'Oreal for all future collections.

GOSH volume lip shine in 03 TEA ROSE is one of the very best lip glosses I have tried. I love the colours offered and it applies incredibly smooth with no drag at all. It does not feel sticky either.
The tube is a very sturdy and simple design.

Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge water proof liquid lip colour in BRIGHT ORANGE is the clear winner for being the most intense colour payoff ever. Also when used with the clear top coat it will not budge. I have went swimming with this on and it still looked perfect after. This is truly an incredible product and this particular colour is amazing against tan skin in the summer.

ANNABELLE TWISTUP IN ROMANCE. These lip crayons are very convenient and offer a huge shade range. They apply very creamy and last several hours on the lip before touch up is required. There is also quite a bit of product per tube.

What can I say, if I am not wearing lipstick this is what is on my lips 90% of the time
BARE ENGLISH & CO. MINT CHOCOLATE tea infused organic lip balm. Besides being organic this is also a vegan product. They currently offer 3 flavours and are in the process of some other fun and interesting products coming in the near future;) All around between flavour, moisture retention and visible improvement to chapped lips this product gets a 10 from me.

LASTLY FOR LIP PRODUCTS IS MY CHOICE FOR ALL AROUND MOST FAVOURED BRAND AND THAT GOES TO REVLON. They have the most diverse colour range and finishes at drug store level and are the big winners in my books, here is the proof

Top row L2R- 510 Berry Rich (crème),470 Copperglow Berry (pearl) & 625 Iced Amethyst (pearl)
Middle row L2R- 660 Berry Haute (crème), 677 Siren (crème) & 825 Lovers Coral (Shine)
Bottom row starting far left- 001 Nude Attitude (matte), 002 Pink Pout (matte), 415 Pink in the Afternoon (crème), 460 Blushing Mauve (pearl), 850 Plum Velour (shine), 011 Stormy Pink (matte) & 013 Smoked Peach (matte) this shade is one of my all time faves.

HOPE YOU LOVED THESE SELECTIONS NOW LETS MOVE ON TO NAIL POLISH, I HAVE 8 TO SHARE BUT DID GROUPINGS FOR THEM.

NAIL POLISH PRODUCTS

First up is OPI liquid sand in JINX which I purchased right when it first came out and not everyone was familiar with the product yet. It is the best overall for opacity and definitely staying power on busy hands. I have gone a full week with no touch ups. Overall best textured nail polish as well. China Glaze is an amazing bronze thick glitter, but if anyone knows what colour it is please leave me a comment. The sticker with the name came off the bottom:(

This next polish is near to perfection in my eyes what an amazing glitter from SpaRitual. This is limited edition in the colour OUT LOUD its like an ocean for your nails. SpaRitual are 3 free polishes, they make a very unique colour range in small collections. The time and effort put in shows in the quality of their products.

GOSH special edition polish in BERRY ME and NYC long wearing polish in 147 Lexington Lilac
Gosh "Berry Me" is a gorgeous raspberry red that is a crème opaque polish. I find Gosh is another company that makes some very unique colours in their collection especially some of the special editions. The only down side is it does chip easily, but very pretty no less. Then you take a budget friendly brand like NYC that offers polish for $1.50 CAD and Lexington Lilac is an amazing feminine colour that wears incredibly well ( I highly recommend it) :)

To end this very long post is three polishes that are all within different budget prices, but all equally show stopping. Pure Ice in OUTRAGEOUS is a sexy metallic petal pink that leaves an incredible finish and you can easily get away with one coat extremely good coverage $2, Maybelline Color Show Sequins in limited edition shade ROSE BLING such a stunning fine pink glitter with multifaceted large hex glitter combine for a jaw dropping polish $4 and finally very last is SECHE nail lacquer in the colour ENAMORED this is such a splendid chromatic polish, but it does lean on the higher price end at $11.
Both the Pure Ice and Seche can be worn alone, or the Maybelline sequins is a good pairing for both as a top coat.

What were your favourite items that I mentioned in this post???

THANKS SO MUCH FOR READING THROUGH MY CLEARLY CRAZY OBSESSION OF LIP AND NAIL PRODUCTS AND HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY

xoxo:)
