50% OFF REVLON SUPER LUSTROUS LIPSTICKS WOW

Hi everyone,

So to further my obsession with Revlon way back during the holidays my local Shoppers Drug Mart had a 50% off Revlon lip products event for 2 days only. It included all lipsticks, lip glosses and lip butters which I just posted a separate review on those recently. This time around I skipped on the glosses because I have a few from Revlon and haven't been reaching for them much. The glosses are gorgeous don't get me wrong, and with summer coming soon I will be wearing them more again and they will be getting some love for a change.
Moving along lets look at the two lipsticks I purchased
006 MATTE- REALLY RED & 477 CREME- BLACK CHERRY

 BLACK CHERRY

 MATTE REALLY RED

As you can see in the tube Black Cherry looks extremely intimidating, but not so once swatched. I did notice even though its a crème it does skip a little and you need to go back over it. Then you have the matte Really Red which is just gorgeous and the swatch was one back and forth motion if that helps express the amazing pigmentation on this one. I like Revlon's matte lipsticks because they don't feel drying on the lips like other brands I have tried in the past.

These were definitely worth adding to my arsenal of lipsticks what do you think?? What are your favourite colours from Revlon???

What a great buy they were $4.60 each

Thanks for checking in with Makeup'Asylum

XOXO:)

EVERYTHING IS BETTER WITH BUTTER....REVLON LIP BUTTERS THAT IS!

Come on in and join the fun,

Here I am with more catch up posts from items I got before Christmas and just getting around to posting YIKES.

So in the second half of the lip products from Revlon lets look at some new editions to my collection of lip butters. As mentioned in the lipstick post Shoppers Drug Mart had a 50% off Revlon lip products so I grabbed a few.
L2R-RED VELVET, BERRY SMOOTHIE & WILD WATERMELON
Lip butters are such practical products because the serve dual purpose in delivering on colour, as well as good moisture. With lip butters of any kind or brand it is normal to apply more frequently because they are a softer product, but do pack some punch with some of the richer colours in the collections.
40 RED VELVET- As the name suggest this is like the moist red velvet cake that if made the traditional way the cake is coloured with beet juice which in a batter can take on this reddish brown tone.

50 BERRY SMOOTHIE- I was noticing in this particular colour some pink micro glitter which I am not certain how many more in the lip butters have this as I always thought they were more just a crème finish with shine. This is a nice gentle berry tone that is a great everyday colour.

I like this shade because it adds just a sheer wash of colour to compliment your natural lip tone and is easy to wear.

63 WILD WATERMELON- Yes I know this colour totally screams Summer, maybe there is a little part of me that truly is missing some of that sun shine and warmth. I have been after this colour for a while, but kept putting it off, maybe because it is so bright. I felt the need to buy other colours first that were more practical I suppose. However a variety of bold orange tones are making headlines in the fashion world as the go to colour for not only winter this year, but heading into Spring as well.

I am pleased with all three selections and look forward to using these.
Again I got these for 50% off which was about $4.60 each.

Other colours in the lip butters I also own are fig jam, cupcake, sugar plum & sweet tart. At some point or another I have reviewed them all.

If you have never tried Revlon lip butters, first I would think you have been hiding under a rock and also don't have a sick obsession with lip products as I do;P and lastly I highly suggest you give them a try. There is approx. 20 colours to choose from, all varying for many different tastes.

WHAT REVLON LIP BUTTERS DO YOU OWN, IF YOU DON'T OWN ANY WHICH WOULD YOU WANT TO TRY FIRST????

THANKS FOR STOPPING BY
XOXO:)

SECRET SOCIETY EYE PALETTE FROM QUO

Good day everyone,

Today I will be sharing with you another Limited Edition palette from Quo. It was part of their early fall line, but I don't know if it's still available or not at Shoppers Drug Mart. I normally don't like to review things that may not be available any longer but the presentation of this particular palette was just to pretty not to share.

The collection itself is called SECRET SOCIETY but the colours for this particular palette is called FEMME FATALE

So lets begin

The first thing that totally caught my eye was the packaging, which I do find most times then not Quo does a fantastic job with. Everything normally is impressive from a distance.

Then moving on to the offerings inside the palette it comes with 6 eyesahdows and 2 cream eyeliners.

The colour break down from left to right starting at the top is orange gold, minty blue, a smoky plum. bottom left to right is brown with a fine gold shimmer, teal and white. The two cream liners are pretty self explanatory.
The eyeshadows swatch in the picture with a shimmer but in person not as much. Its so fine that it's not really noticeable.

Here are some close up shots of 2 shades at a time

Then we have the swatches which I did with no primer

I actually feel this time around Quo did a good job with this palette, the shadows are fairly buttery, they wear well and the pigmentation is decent,  especially the cream liners.

Neutral colours are always good, but in this case the Teal & Plum steal the show.

This palette was $18 and each shadow is 1.8g and the cream liners are each 2g

I hope you enjoyed having a look at this multipurpose palette that will easily take you from day to night.

IF YOU LIVE IN CANADA DID YOU PICK UP ANYTHING FROM QUO'S SECRET SOCIETY COLLECTION?? LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS.

TILL NEXT TIME EVERYONE

STAY BEAUTIFUL XO

ESSENCE MINI HAUL AND REVIEW

Hi everyone,

Just thought I would share a few eyeshadows and lipsticks from Essences with you.

I find Essence to be affordable fun colours for everyone.

(All eyeshadow swatches are done with a primer) The first of 4 eyeshadow single pans I wanted to share is

#56 HYPED UP
This eyeshadow is a vibrant grape soda purple sure to please those looking for high impact colour. Purple for me lately has been a disappointment from varying brands, so this was a refreshing change that the colour payoff was actually decent.

However the one company that offers a comparable and impressive purple quad palette is Sedona Lace in their Babe collection (due check it out as well).

#62 JOHN LEMON

Not quite the Beatles, but sure is a stand out rocking lemon yellow shadow no less. I like that you can sheer this one out and even use it to highlight the brow bone, or build it up to really show the yellow pigment.

John Lemon has a nice golden yellow shimmer once applied to the skin

#30 HAPPY HOUR
Pour yourself a "Blue Lagoon" and get your eyes party ready with this beautiful blue that will have all eyes on you. A soft gentle blue with just the right amount of shimmer and pairs beautifully with the richness of "Hyped Up"

HAPPY HOUR has very similar colour quality to Maybelline's colour tattoo in the limited edition colour "Icy Mint"

#11 WILD AT HEART

I think dark navy eyeshadow is so sexy if applied right and done as an alternative to the basic black and grey toned smoky eye look. It does have a touch of shimmer, but not enough to even discourage those who are a bit older and prefer more matte eyeshadows.

Lastly for eyeshadow is one colour from the FANTASY QUAD which is an unusual colour that's a deep blue/green

This colour and "Happy Hour" tend to have a strong foil finish. So if that's what you like grab yourself some of these beautiful eyeshadows today.

I love that they are also only $2.49 CAD

Essence website shows they offer 15 different single pans all of which availability will vary depending on where you buy yours.

To finish up today's review I have two lipsticks the first is

#57 MORE TO LOVE
This colour looks very dark and berry toned in the tube, but once applied is more a glossy berry tone with sparkle in it, which is ok, but surprisingly I have not been loving as much as of late. At one time I wanted sparkle in everything, but sometimes you need to put the brakes on and really think about that especially once you are getting older. There is a time and place for everything, sadly even sparkle. One other thing with sparkle lip stick or even sparkle gloss you feel the grit from the sparkle and I hate that, I'm sure some of you know what I am talking about.

MORE TO LOVE

RED CARPET

Red Carpet is ultra red and super creamy on the lips. This to me is a red that should be in your collection, keep in mind that it does have an orange undertone.
That is also the other thing with sparkle lip stick or even gloss you feel the grit from the sparkle and I hate that.

My favorite thing about Essence lipsticks is that they smell like candy. Essence lipsticks due bleed a bit and last a standard amount of time if your eating or drinking.

Lipsticks are aprox.$2.99 CAD

For the most part I enjoy Essence brand and there products are good for those on a budget. I do highly recommend their eyeshadows. I own about a dozen now and really have no complaints, some colours are a little chalky, but hey! nothing in this world is perfect.

I noticed on Essence website they have about 10 lipsticks available, 5 of which are new shades so check it out at

or find a Shoppers Drug Mart location near you for a selection of Essence products as it seems this brand is exclusive to Shoppers.

Thanks for reading as always and

STAY BEAUTIFUL

RIMMEL APOCALIPS LIP LAQUER (NOW AVAILABLE IN CANADA FINALLY)

On Thursday I was looking through the new flyer's and discovered that the new Rimmel Apocalips are finally in Canadian stores.
The next day I made my dash to SHOPPERS DRUG MART to get me some.

I am surprised to tell you that there are in fact not 8, BUT 12 gorgeous hues to choose from.
Some of the other colours that were not the original 8 are Aurora, Out of this world, light year and Solstice

Today I am going to share with you the 6 that I picked.

The first one is somewhat my least favourite of the ones I bought. I find it very sheer and not incredibly buildable. This is a shimmery gold nude, only a couple of Apocalips have this shimmer finish, everything else is an opaque cream.

701 STARGAZER

Then staying with the nudes I also chose

100 PHENOMENON
This has a very creamy finish that if not done correctly can look really bad on the lips AND EVERY LITTLE mistake shows. Watch out for those with drier lips as it really shows up dry skin because it is so opaque. The one thing I noticed if you build up the colour when your lips part they tend to stick together with a string of colour hanging between them. This is a peachy nude that is very similar to Lime Crime's "COSMOPOP."

102 NOVA
This is a pretty rose pink colour that is really suitable for a lot of skin tones because it has the right balance of cool and warm tones in it.

101 CELESTIAL
Celestial is a dusty rose pink that has a bit more of a muddy undertone compared to NOVA above. I like both equally, but for more everyday use I would probably be more inclined to reach for this colour.

STELLAR
Stellar is very red, but not a true red as the shade called "Big Bang." However it certainly can hold it's own in terms of being bright, vivid and having amazing colour payoff. This is a summer time melon red.

303 APOCALIPTIC
Apocaliptic is a more reddish pink with strong blue/purple base tones. I prefer this colour over "Stellar." These bold colours wear intensely bright, but Apocaliptic tends to be a bit deeper. This colour makes me think of cherry popsicles.

All in all Rimmel Apocalips live up to there claim for insane pigmentation in one sweep application. However I am not a huge fan of the scent of these lip lacquer's and hope that maybe one day Rimmel will change that particular part of their formulation. I did wear "Nova" for a couple of hours the other day and it seemed to wear without any hassle. As with anything touch ups will be required. I do hope Apocalips stick around for a while and maybe Rimmel can offer more colours in time or maybe a couple of limited edition colours for the holidays or a specific season.

ALL left to right
Top: Nova & Phenomenon
Middle: Stargazer & Stellar
Bottom: Celestial & Apocaliptic

You can find Apocalips at your local SHOPPERS DRUG MART as well as WALMART.
Shoppers- $8.99
Walmart- $7.97

I want to point out that all though Walmart is a dollar cheaper they only have 6-8 colours available where as Shoppers Drug Mart has a selection of 12 great colours to choose from.
IN CANADA THERE IS MORE THEN 8 APOCALIPS

Thanks for reading and make sure your lips are ready for an Apocalips ;)

QUO LIPSTICKS AND GLOSS

I received as a gift some lipsticks by QUO as well as a lip gloss and wanted to share with you all, so lets have a look

The first lipstick is VA VOOM, this is a very rich, red brown like a brick. This reminds me slightly of Revlon's "Toast of New York", but a bit darker.

VA VOOM
The dark shades in the Quo line are very pigmented and wear for a standard amount of time before a touch up is required.

I do find the next colour which is POPPY PAVOT a bit drying to the lips. I don't know if it's because of the shimmer in this particular one, because I don't find that with Va voom.

POPPY PAVOT

The last colour which I really like of the three is called BELLE DE JOUR which is a pretty champagne nude colour that has frost finish. Normally I am not a huge fan of frost finishes for lipsticks but this works well for this colour.

BELLE DE JOUR

Oddly this lighter shade and maybe in part due to the finish is glides on very smooth and feels more moisturizing on the lips then the others.

From left gloss: Hush Secret, lipsticks: Belle De Jour, Poppy Povat and Va Voom
All the lipsticks have a similar scent reminiscent to Mac lipsticks which I do enjoy.

Lipsticks are 3g and cost $15 they come housed in a solid, modern, acrylic squared tube and you can see the colour at the bottom, so no need to open before buying.

Lastly is the lip gloss in the colour HUSH SECRET This is a gentle nude pink that looks much darker in the tube then once on the lip. It has a slight shimmer finish, but adds more shine and not a ton of shimmer which at times can look unpleasant if it's to much.

This gloss is applied with a brush applicator which is not my favorite, but any way. You can build the colour up or leave it subtle. It has a scent that reminds me of fall and creamy candy corn or some sort of candy.
I do find it is a bit sticky to the touch, but wears well.

I overall like the Quo lipsticks and glosses that I have purchased in the past, I do find for me personally it's a bit pricey. However I do like the sturdy packaging that Quo products come in. Its a simple yet affective design.

The gloss comes in a 6g and is around $14

A close substitute for this gloss which is a bit darker but not much is

Bath and Body Works LipLicious called VANILLA WHIP which is just a touch more glossy but the colours are similar. The LipLiscious are 14ml/.47fl oz $8

If you interested in trying any lip products by QUO be sure to visit your local
