I hope all of you who celebrated Mother's Day this weekend had a wonderful day full of love, family, being spoiled, and that you were treated like a queen. I was very happy with Mother's Day, and spending it low key with my two favourite people my husband and child. Those two are all I need in this life. 

Moving on, this is my actual review post of the OURS products that were sent to me, and now that I have had several days to test them out I can provide you all with an honest review.

3 IN 1 HYDRATING OIL

This product can be used for hair, skin, or massage. I find I have been using this product most for my legs. I have such dry skin due to circulation issues that as soon as the oil hits my skin it's as if my skin is hungry and eating it up in two minutes flat. My legs feel amazing after I shave and apply it immediately after. I like the extremely gentle natural scent of Lavender playing in the background without being overwhelming, giving me a headache, or making me choke for that matter.I also like rubbing this around my cuticles after a shower as well. I won't be using this on my hair as it's a grease pit as it is, no help needed in that department.

EVERYBODY LOTION
480ML $11.99

My husband and I, and our son all agree this is a big winner. It works well and my son and I think it smells like tea. My son more specifically said earl grey tea which makes sense as he is smelling the Bergamot and I do to along with the mandarin orange. I find it absorbs quick and my skin feels very smooth. The big plus is my son has had no issues with his skin becoming itchy, and red, he says he finds it relaxing and nice when I apply it after his shower. I love that I have been able to apply this to my face with no signs of irritation that in itself is a feat. Also, the amount you get is very generous and will last a fair bit as long as everyone is not over using it. If you are one person using it this will go a long way.

FACE & BODY EXFOLIATOR

Let me start by saying the exfoliator is a nice product that works well at getting my makeup off and sloughing off dead skin. I like that this product uses the natural jojoba beads as it's source of exfoliation and not plastic, which, for the most part, is why I have never been a huge fan of exfoliators in general. Don't even get me started on exfoliators that use ground up nut shells, whose terrible skin damaging idea was that? 
The face and body exfoliator I have only used on my face so far, and no one else in the household has tried it as of yet. On the bottle, it says you can leave it on for 10 minutes as a calming and conditioning mask. So one of the nights of testing I did so for about 8 minutes, unfortunately, this method did not work for me. I have rosacea in my cheek & nose area and leaving the exfoliator on heightened the redness in those spots after rinsing and for a while after. However, I have no problems using it for quick cleansing, I just can't leave it on my skin. 

Overall I am pleasantly surprised and pleased with the OURS collection which consists of 8 products, and I definitely would repurchase. I am also interested in trying out the Anything Balm and the Head to Toe wash. I would love to find a product that I can wash my hair and body with, and everyone in the house can use to.

At my local Rexall it seems the hot sellers are the Head to Toe wash and Anything Balm as they were sold out.


Just keep in mind that no one product in any brands line is going to be able to cover such a huge scope as skin care concerns. Many people have varying degrees of skin issues and for many different reasons that it is too hard to narrow it down and be able to help every single person in one shot. You have to find a happy balance of what works for you, which can literally take years and plenty of trial and error.

MOISTURIZING BODY OIL

This body oil is deep therapy for dry skin suffers, used in conjunction with the concentrated cream you surly will beat out winter skin. This is a light weight oil that absorbs nicely into the skin and smells a little more nuttier then the cream, it probably is from all the nourishing oils in it. Not only do you get a dose of vitamin e, but you also get the benefits of the pure cocoa butter as well. Palmer's body oil will leave you feeling silky smooth, softened and hydrated.

You can apply this directly to the skin and massage in. For a little further relaxation why not take this to the bath, 1-2 capfuls added to your bath water will give your body much needed extra moisture during these harsh winter months, or anytime your body is feeling deprived.

COCOA BUTTER FORMULA LOTION

 

Palmer's cocoa butter formula lotion is a lot like the concentrate cream just not quite as thick. It too is extremely good for dry to severely dry skin and works wonders in as little as one application. My hands were red, burning, cracking and chapped recently and I applied this and over night my hands felt so much better by morning.

This product is good for helping heal existing stretch marks as well as a preventative measure of getting them during pregnancy. Palmer's also has products specifically for moms, soon to be moms and new moms.

PHILOSOPHY THE BAKE SHOPPE GIFT SET

Back again for a second helping of gift sets from Philosophy

 

Today lets take a look at the gift set called "THE BAKE SHOPPE" which is a much more gourmand offering from its cousin "Snow Angel" which I covered in the last post.

In this box you get again a shower gel and lotion, but the bonus here is they are two different yummy scents which are Christmas Cookie shower gel and Sweet Creamy Frosting body lotion.

 

How do we possibly wear scents like this without getting eaten by spatula wielding, oven mitt wearing zombies :P :P :D :D

 

I love that on the bottles are actual recipes to make cookies and frosting, how delicious is that. I will be testing out their Philosophy over the holidays lol.

 

Again the packaging is super cute and a throw back to yesteryear.  

 

 

The sweet cream frosting lotion smells good, but seems it might take on a funny undertone. The Christmas cookie shower gel smells amazing and good enough to eat (but don't do that).

 

Again each bottle is 240ml and I got it for $14.99

 

I have been waiting to haul these items so now I can finally use them and get the bake shoppe happening in the bath:)

PHILOSOPHY SNOW FLAKE WONDERLAND GIFT SET IN "SNOW ANGEL"

I have known about Philosophy products for years and at one time I did buy them more often, but as priorities change you realize spending $30 on bath products isn't always the most practical thing.
The other day I did some shopping and went into Winners because you are sure to leave with some great find or other.


I was very pleased to find not one but two gift sets from Philosophy, the second one I will be posting separately.

Lets take a look at the Snowflake Wonderland gift set offering the scent Snow Angel

First off I absolutely love the packaging for Philosophy gift sets they are so whimsical and festive.

Now what about the scent it self "Snow Angel" It seems to me to have a base of pear scent and it is sweet but delicate like the new fallen snow. It makes me think of taking a crisp winter walk and taking a deep breath of cold air.

I like that the lotion has shea butter as well as olive and macadamia oil in it, which all will leave your skin deeply hydrated.
The shower gel leaves a delicate shimmer on the skin. I would say the scent does not last incredibly long though.

The only thing I find a little discomforting is when a package warns not to use something excessively or with prolonged exposure as it may cause irritation to skin and urinary tract???? SAY WHAT! Well then I don't think I will be using this on my lady parts if that's the case YIKES.

 

I love the beautiful pearlescent swirl of this shower gel it is a minty version of Philosophy's other holiday favourite "Have a Cherry Christmas" which obviously leans more red/pink and looks like this. I would love to try this sometime as well because I am crazy for anything that is cherry scented.

 

So as mentioned I found the "Snow Angel" gift set at Winners and it was only $14.99 which is pretty much half price. The same set is currently on Sephora and selling for $26.00 and is LIMITED EDITION so bare that in mind if your going to be buying as a gift.

 

Each bottle is 240ml/ 8 oz.

 

All in all I do like "Snow Angel", but I am not entirely crazy in love with the scent. I will actually be giving this away as a gift. I think the second set is more up my alley, so stay tuned to see that one in an upcoming blog.

VICTORIA SECRET PINK WARM & COZY LOTION AND BODY MIST

So one of the first things I made a bee line to buy after "No Buy November" is from Victoria Secret Pink which is from their bath and body collection. I had read and seen several reviews on this scent and I am so glad I went and checked it out. The scent is WARM & COZY. I am so in love with this scent, but I am pretty sure that at one point La Senza carried the exact same scent which I also owned at one time. As you all know VS and La Senza  are owned under the same brand, so it was probably just a matter of a small reformulation and repackaging. No less I love the scent and it is truly a warm and cozy feeling due in part to the toasted vanilla balanced beautifully with the gentle scent of peony.

 

The one thing that is a draw back for me personally is that you only get 2 items for $25 CAD, where as you can go to bath and body and walk away with 4 items, use the their coupons and pay the same amount. I don't really find VS Pink's quality really any better either. I do like that they have different scents compared to B&B.

Again though for those that don't realize it VS and B&B are owned under the same umbrella of brands through Limited Brands, which also owns Henri Bendel, C.O. Bigelow, White Barn Candle Co. that supplies B&B, La senza, along with a few others.

That's why you may notice a similar feel between some of the stores and products.

 

The other thing I really like about the VS Pink lotion is the size, standing in at 500ml/16.9 fl oz. versus B&B which only offers about 236ml bottles. I really load on the lotion all over, so to me the more the better. Also it's important to wear lotion not only to soften skin, but to layer it with the mist as it retains the scent longer on your body.

 

I also picked up this cool looking gunmetal finish iphone5 case. I put it on as soon as I paid and I do notice it gets scratched very easily, but what can I expect! VS or not it is only plastic:/

LIVE CLEAN EXOTIC NECTAR COLLECTION

HI ALL,

So I am slowly trying to revamp my collection of body products and household items to more eco- friendly choices, as well as products that are less harmful on my skin and everyone in my family.

My interest in the "Live Clean" line started several years ago when I noticed that my baby's skin was having a reaction to Johnson's baby products. So as I walked the baby care aisle I noticed Live Clean, which at that time was newer to the market. I bought the shampoo & wash, as well as the lotion. That night after I bathed my baby with the product and put on some lotion I noticed what a gentle awesome smell this product had. It truly is a baby scent. I also noticed over the course of the week my child's skin returned to normal with no signs of rash, I was hooked on this wonderful product and it cost no more then the chemical filled Johnson products so it's definitely worth the switch.

Moving forward to today I have rediscovered my passion for live clean products, but this time it is the "EXOTIC NECTAR" collection which has a range of 8 products. I purchased the body lotion and body wash.

The body lotion dispenses a little more fluid then other lotions, but as you start to rub it in and it takes on a creamier consistency. I noticed it creates a shield over the surface of the skin and if you rub your skin an hour or so later it almost acts as though you have reactivated the lotion again to continue to hydrate.

 

I love that this particular collection has a nice nutty smell to it. For those that don't know Argan is a fruit that has a thick bitter peel, within that is an unpleasant flavoured pulpy flesh that only smells sweet. Deep within the Argan fruit is a hard nut that may only have a mere 2-3 seeds in it which Argan oil is extracted from.

The whole family can enjoy this product because it just smells good in a very unisex way.

 

Why not indulge further and take this amazing scent to the shower as well with this delicious creamy body wash. A must try for all fans of Argan products.

 

 

The body wash has a mild caramel colour to it similar to that of the Argan seeds on the label.

This gives a great lather, and easy rinsing. I find paired with the lotion is gives ultimate moisture that does last all day. I find if I use the lotion randomly throughout the day my hands have been feeling exceptionally soft, with no trace of a greasy feeling at all.

 

Live Clean states on their packaging the following

"Plant Based, Certified Organic Botanicals, Petroleum  Free, Mineral Oil, Paraben and Phthalate Free, Pure Vegan, Never tested on animals, Package recyclable, Biodegradable Ingredients, Hypoallergenic, Dermatologist tested."

 

That is a lot to promise in a product.

 

 

 

My only one concern about Live Clean is that I noticed in the ingredients that there is "Fragrance" which can be any number of other additional ingredients not clearly stated on the label for the consumer. Some of those ingredients may not be as skin and eco friendly as we would like and can often be the culprit for allergic reaction even though it is 98% plant based. So always keep that in mind when buying products.
