MILANI ROSE POWDER BRUSH

Welcome back and it's mid-week hooray!

Today we are going to look at the Milani rose blushes, but first let me start by saying a few years back I was never into blusher. It was unheard of to see me wearing it ever. I always thought that perhaps it gave that clown appearance, so I often steered clear of it. Flash forward to now and I have come to really enjoy it now that I have found one that works best for me, but that did not come without trial and error. I have used many including high-end, cream, shimmer, wet, you name it.

I first started with a lower end blush which was New York Colour. I found the colour was ok, quite chalky and a little too gentle in terms of pigmentation. I started hearing about Milani products from watching YouTube and so I ventured to find some. The first few I bought were the baked blushes which were so pretty in the package I bought several. However as I was using them I was noticing that because they have shimmer they were strongly emphasising the damaged, scarred skin in my cheek area from previously dealing with severe acne. Even, though Luminoso was considered a cult favourite in this line I wasn't  into it for long even though it is an amazing colour. So here I sat with these multiple baked blushes that felt useless to me and my skin type. So now what? Then I thought ok! now I remember why I never used blusher in the first place and I thought I would just go back to not using it at all. Then Milani released some limited edition blushes which are the rose powder blush. I saw them and firstly thought wow what a gorgeous idea of the blush looking like a rose bloom, I wanted them just for that reason. Then I started reading reviews, watching YouTube and seeing swatches and I thought well they are matte so maybe I should give these a try. I bought the three colours I found available to me and when I received them I gravitated to one particular shade which is 01 Romantic Rose. I knew as soon as I saw the blusher in person that this was going to be my perfect colour, and I am happy to say it is. I have not worn the other two yet because I just can't stop reaching for Romantic Rose.

So, sometimes it can take months or in my case dozens of blushes and two full years to discover what was right for me. Be patient with makeup as it takes the time to curate the perfect collection of go-to items that work for daily life. However, once you do you will be happier with your buying choices and will know you're looking great each day you walk out that door.

01 ROMANTIC ROSE
EDITORS #1 PICK

A gorgeous nude mauve/pink blush that just creates that perfect contrast on the cheeks without looking artificial. My all-time favourite blush ever. Pantone colour match to 5005 C

05 CORAL COVE
As the name suggests a bright summer poppin' coral shade that has a strong tropical orange tone to it. This blush can really pack a punch, so apply with a gentle hand. Pantone colour match to 171 M

The colour in the pan did not translate as orange in the photo as it is in person

08 TEA ROSE
Tea Rose is more pink on the skin depending on your skin tone, but it is quite a peachy pink in the pan. Pantone colour match to 673 C

I find this formula really easy to work with also it blends out really well, and no streaks or harsh lines. I like Romantic Rose because it's such a forgiving colour especially if you have damaged skin in the cheek area. I find using the Make Up For Ever 156 brush to apply this blush is a perfect marriage.

YOU GET A SUPER GENEROUS 17G FOR $8 CAD

All three shades originally came out over the past couple of years as part of limited edition collections. It seems Milani narrowed it down to these three shades being worthy of coming out in the permanent collection at the end of 2014. I was able to get the rose blushes through Well.ca, the link is in the side bar or visit the Milani website.

WHICH BLUSH DO YOU PREFER THE BAKED BLUSHES OR THE MATTE ROSE FORMULA?

I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY :)

MILANI MOISTURE MATTE LIPSTICKS

WELCOME, BACK! TODAY IS MILANI MONDAY,

I am sure your not surprised that I am doing yet another lip product review for you all. Today lets take a look at three of the Milani matte lipsticks.

I would say Milani Matte lipsticks are by far one of the most comfortable matte lipsticks to wear and do not feel like they are sucking the moisture out of my lips. These wear for a long time, on days when I am too busy and skip lunch (I know bad, bad, tsk, tsk on me) these lipsticks stay in place, with no touch up needed. I love that Milani matte lipsticks are infused with grape seed oil imported from Italy, but I am curious if it's pure, organic or cold pressed?

FACT- Did you know that grape seed oil contains twice as much vitamin e as Olive oil?
no wonder my lips feel so good when I wear it.

Milani moisture matte lipsticks are available in 8 shades, I imagine with time they will expand the collection or at least that is my hope. In Canada, Milani is sold at Loblaws, Great Canadian Super Store and online through Well.ca (link to their site is in the sidebar). EACH LIPSTICK IS 3.97G AND ARE $8 CAD

Also, I don't know if anyone has noticed on the Milani website, but under each colour of the matte lipstick's it says Vegan, so that's a big plus for those looking for that option in their makeup choices.

Here are the colours I picked up

60 INNOCENCE
A peachy nude that is a gentle light hue on the lips, but the colour applies evenly and does not wash out ones complexion. I find some other really light nude colours can almost look like the person is wearing concealer on the lips because even the undertones are too light, with Innocence I find the base colour is warmer even though it is the lightest shade in the range.

EDITORS CHOICE

61 NAKED

A beautiful mauve nude that is just perfect in every way and I have been reaching for this a whole lot this past couple of months. It really is that nude that is your lips, but better.

62 BLISSFUL
This pink truly has me swooning because it's the right pink. Blissful is not too dark or light, just a happy middle ground. It makes me think of a perfect cupcake frosting or the darker parts of pink cotton candy. Also, this one actually leaves a mild stain behind just a F.Y.I. I feel this is a pink that would be complimentary to a lot of different skin tones.

In closing, I love Milani Moisture Matte lipsticks and find it an excellent product, with little to complain about. The biggest upside is that Milani finally changed the scent which was something I wasn't a fan of before, now I adore that oh so sweet Vanilla tone. So big thumbs up to Milani on that much-needed improvement. The only thing I would like to see in time is different bullets, as I am not a huge fan of the shiny gold, but I know a lot of people like it. I just personally find it looks dated, even if that is not the intent.

NO BUY NOVEMBER PART4 BEAUTY PRODUCTS (ANYTHING)

Hi everyone,

So here in the GTA we have finally been hit with are first snow fall of the year which occurred Saturday November 23 and continued well into the night leaving us with just under a foot of snow and plunging temperatures feeling like -20 with the wind chill. I will be putting my winter boots to good use this week.
Speaking of which this is it the last week of "NO BUY" November and we have successfully made it unscathed, at least I know I have:) As I mentioned previously I found this a pretty easy challenge and would gladly do another one again in the future.

This last week we are able to just randomly share whatever items we have found in our stash that have become new and interesting all over again. I have 5 items to share all focusing on different areas, which I thought would round out the final week nicely.

 First up is:

ALBA BONTANICA ACNEDOTE FACE WASH- Truthfully when I first got this I really wasn't sure how I felt about it. I used it for a few weeks and I did not see a real difference if I had a small breakout etc. I decided to shelf it and come back to it at a later time. Now this past week I found myself grab for it and use it a couple of times again. I have no clue what is going on, but I keep getting pimples on my nose which seldom happened before and now it seems as of late every time I wake up there is something there. I don't know if it's a product I am using, maybe it could even be this particular face wash.?!?!?!? I am at a loss. However I did give it another fair chance, but I think this will be put to the back of the closet yet again. ACNEdote is a natural face wash with willow bark which for those that don't know has naturally occurring salicylic acid. I feel the peppermint oil is actually what is over stimulating my face and making me break out. You get 177ml for about $15

So all though rediscovered not my favourite choice for the month.

MILANI CRYSTAL GLOSS- SUMMER BABY
When this gloss first released it was considered a very good dupe for Mac's Nymphette tinted lipglass. I would have to agree based on the photo's I have seen of both swatches. However what a huge price difference Mac is $18 here in Canada and the Milani gloss is only $5. I love the smell, price, wear time and portable size of the tube of the Milani gloss and glad I picked one up and you should too:)

SPARITUAL LACQUER- SUN SALUTATION
For anyone who is new to my blog I am a huge fan of SpaRitual nail polish and think it's worth every penny and highly recommend this line if you are looking for beautiful, unique, vegan, earth friendly products. The pictures I take of this polish never ever do it justice, it is so much more beautiful in person and I suggest checking it out if you ever spot it at a store. It truly is the most amazing rose gold I have ever seen (no joke) and it lasts for days. SpaRitual polishes are 15ml bottles and cost about $13.

I have several polishes from SpaRitual and they are all my favourites in my entire collection of polishes which is currently sitting at 75.

L'OREAL LIMITED EDITION CANNES QUAD- COPPER COCKTAIL
I got this quad back in the summer and it got stuffed to the back of my eyeshadow drawer and I happened upon it and was wowed by its beauty all over again. I love strong metal shades that leave that foil type finish behind. I think there is nothing more pretty and definitely makes the eyes pop.
My only complaint with this quad is even though the lay out looks modern and geometric it is flawed because you need to be very careful when trying to pick up just one colour on your brush.
Also there is not much product, I imagine if I used it everyday it would be gone in no time. It was $12 which is also quite high for what it is. They are nicely pigmented and blend out well.

There are other quads out there with similar colours. Unfortunately this can no longer be picked up because it was limited edition, but you might find one floating around on Ebay if you really must have this one.

PINK SUGAR PERFUME BY AQUOLINA

Over the month of October I started experimenting wearing warm spicy fragrance, but have gradually headed back to my favorites which are "gourmand" type scents. Not saying I don't like the spicy scents I just prefer the sweeter tones especially now that I am in full on Holiday/Christmas mode. So with that I pulled out my bottle of "PINK SUGAR" and I have been loving it once again. So yummy it truly is like sweet candy in a bottle. I love that its a mix of vanilla, caramel, fig, cotton candy and a nice musky base and also sweet berries mingling in there to. There is a lot going on with this perfume, but it some how all seamlessly works together for a truly sugar-tastic experience. I got a 50ml bottle on sale at Shoppers Drug Mart for $20 which is an excellent deal as it retails at Sephora for $45.

SO THAT CONCLUDES THE NO BUY NOVEMBER SERIES AND I HOPE YOU ENJOYED EVERY THING I FEATURED OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS. ONLY 6 DAYS TO GO AND THEN I AM GOING SHOPPING LOL;D

DID YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE THAT WAS FEATURED IN MY "NO BUY NOVEMBER" POSTS???

MAKE YOUR STATEMENT WITH MILANI LIPSTICKS

Good day everyone,

I don't know what it is, but I find myself on a lipstick buying binge as of late, actually more then anything else. Years ago I had a huge makeup collection before blogging and Youtube became the big thing. I often think all those years I could have been doing this *SIGH* and my lipstick collection was just as big then as it is again now.

I recently went to a near by Loblaw and did not realize the huge selection they have of cosmetics including Milani which is a great discovery.

I picked up another fall type colour which is the Milani Colour Statement lipstick 17 PLUMROSE.
I wore this yesterday when I went out and had a couple of women ask me what I was wearing. It does tend to be a brighter bolder lipstick, but still very wearable.

I feel it picked up a lot more red in the picture but is quite a deep pink mauve in the light.

I feel Milani lipsticks have very good staying power and it barely faded by the time I got home after a few hours out. However everyone's experience with lipstick and cosmetics in general will always differ.
Milani has recently changed the smell in their lipsticks which I definitely appreciate. Previous
lipsticks like Rose Hip or Mango Mambo are almost unbearable for me to wear because of over fragrance. However Rose Hip has now been carried over to the new line.

So if your looking for a lipstick that is great for fall but not really typical of the darker garnets and plums then this colour would be a good fit.

CHECK OUT MILANI'S WEBSITE FOR A WIDE RANGE OF COSMETICS AS WELL AS 27 BEAUTIFUL SHADES IN THIS LIPSTICK COLLECTION

EACH LIPSTICK IS 3.97G AT $6.97 CAD

MILANI COSMETICS LIPSTICKS, GLOSS, LIP CRAYON AND BRONZER

Originally when I placed this order I thought I had a variety of items, only to discover that its mostly lip products. So if your a big fan of lip goodies then keep reading.

All the Milani items I ordered are from WELL.CA.

The first item is the LIP FLASH full coverage shimmer gloss pencil. This pencil is amazing you look at it on and would think it came from a lipstick tube, but no it's a crayon. The colour is 05 HOT FLASH. This is a true sexy red that leaves a wet look to the lips.

You can see this colour on my lips if you check out my INSTAGRAM by clicking on the link in the side bar.

The next item is the CRYSTAL GLOSS FOR LIPS in the colour SUMMER BABY. This is such a pretty soft pink with a beautiful fine gold shimmer. This is almost identical to PAUL & JOE'S lip gloss, part of the lip and eye duo called Santa Monica. The only difference is Paul & Joe's is a hair lighter. You can also get a similar colour from Mac called Nymphette

However all these colours are similar but not in price. The Milani is only $5.50, Mac runs $15 and on the higher end Paul & Joe's lip and eye duo is $34. At least there is options here for every budget which is nice.

The next two items are Milani's colour perfect lipsticks.

For summer I am a huge fan of the bright and bold, so after viewing colour swatches on line at WELL.CA I decided to go with #23 MANGO MAMBO. This is a rich orange red colour that is not for the faint of heart, you will stop traffic with this lip colour.

The next colour is #07 ROSE HIP. This lipstick is such a staggering bright pink your friends may need to wear sunglasses. This is a deep delicious pink reminiscent of that of the skin on the magical dragon fruit. So if your looking for a bright exotic pink to wear this summer grab yourself some "Rose Hip."

Milani lipsticks do have fragrance in them that is noticeable, so beware if your sensitive to fragrant cosmetics. They are 3.74g and are only $5.29 at Well.Ca.

The very last item today is the BAKED BRONZER in the shade SOLEIL. This is a very nice bronzer, however it does have a noticeable shimmer to it compare to other's I have tried. Which in the world of bronzer you either love it or hate it. I don't mind it, but I prefer something warmer and more natural. The compact is fairly nice and has an extra compartment that houses a small brush and a handy mirror, similar to that of Physicians Formula. Great for throwing into your bag for on the go touch ups.

So if your looking for a fun, sunny, affordable bronzer check out Milani Baked Bronzer today. It also has no scent which is nice and may be more ideal for those who have sensitive skin.
This bronzer is 7g and was $12.99 and comes in two other shades which are GLOW & GOLDEN

I hope you all enjoyed this review and maybe you too will find products to love from Milani.

I find these products to be good quality and very affordable. I just wish they were sold more readily in Canadian big box stores. However if you live in Canada and want to purchase Milani products then check out
