I have been using Hawaiian Tropics for years and for the most part it is my go to brand. This new sheer touch product is nice because it has a delicious summer tropical scent and absorbs quickly into the skin, but gently enhances the skin without being overdone. In my parcel I received  3 bottles with SPF 60, 45 & 30. I am actually sending one bottle to a friend and giving one as part of a year end gift for my child's teacher. I also got this super fun, summery cooler bag, great for holding drinks and snacks when heading for the beach.

GET CHEEKY WITH REVLON

Hello to all and welcome back,

Today will be taking a look at an item from Revlon's new line up called the "Cheek Boutique," which is a range of single pan powder blushes, cream blushes and highlighting palettes. There are some beautiful colour options through out. In the single pan I thought "Naughty Nude" & "Wine Not" were the two standout options for me personally. The cream blush called "Flushed" was quite loud, but surprisingly upon swatching in store (amazing they had a tester) it blends out to a much more toned down pink. I did not purchase any of these items, but they are definitely worth considering. Have a look next time your out and about.

The one item from this new collection I did purchase was the highlighting palette in 20 ROSE GLOW

If your looking for a new highlight to try, that's affordable, this is the one to check out. Its a lovely versatile product. Some of the individual shades will be fun to also use on the eye to highlight as well. There is a light over spray of shimmer when first purchased, as well as shimmer throughout the product. I will say this would probably be more appropriate for younger women as it is more shimmery and will over emphasis aging skin. I want to wear a few times and update you later about its over all wear ability. I love the base colour of this product, but not entirely sure about the amount of shimmer for my personal taste and if its truly practical for everyday use or better left for special occasions. It doesn't look to bad in the picture above, but in person the shimmer is very apparent.

***NEW MAYBELLINE COLOUR SENSATIONAL "THE BUFFS" LIPSTICKS***

Hi everyone and Happy New Year,

Lots of new goodies coming out over the next couple of months and on January 14 here in Canada is the release of the new Maybelline Color Sensational "The Buffs" lipsticks. I was able to get a hold of the 3 colours I was after through a friend. So lets jump right in.

920 NUDE LUST- A gorgeous just right creamy nude with a slight peach undertone. This is a bit more beige then the L'Oreal J'Lo's Nude which has a more pink base from the Privee collection. So if your looking for a near perfect nude and missed the Privee collection then be sure to check out Nude Lust, plus Maybelline lipsticks smell way better.

930 TRUFFLE TEASE- I would say this colour and "Nude Lust" are also close in similarity, especially in the tube. However Truffle Tease tends to lean more of a rich caramel nude colour on the skin.

955 ESPRESSO EXPOSED- This is not nude by any means, but I like that Maybelline included this colour because it makes "The Buffs" collection more diverse for all skin types and tones. This is a totally gorgeous wine shade that does have very dark brown tones mixed with an amazing ox blood red. I cannot get enough of this colour.

I photographed this shade in two different light formats just to show the intensity of the colour it self.

If you missed out on getting Maybellines ColorSensational LE lipstick Midnight Plum which is a more purple this might be a good alternative. Here is a pic of the two side by side.

Over all I do like this collection right down to even the tubes, the only two shades I was not really into was the lightest colour "Bare It All" that almost seemed so pale and opaque like concealer, but I imagine would be fun to use for a mod look. Also "Stormy Sahara" striked me as a little to much of a terracotta toned lipstick for my personal preference when I swatched it in person.

I feel this collection will sell extremely well because one thing is for sure most girls love Nude tones.

As mentioned this are due for release on January 14 in Canada and will run about $10 depending on where you purchase.

OLAY BODYWASH, LEVER SOAP, SOFTSOAP, DIAL NATURALS,LYSOL FOAM HAND SOAP

Today is all about keeping clean and various different products I have been trying lately.

SOFTSOAP CITRUS SPLASH & BERRY FUSION BODY WASH

You can now feel fresh and alert with this delicious combination of citrus and berries. This body wash will infuse your skin with the scent of berry extracts and leave it soft and touchable with it's moisture beads. The clear blue jelly formula makes it oh so inviting.

 

The scent of this body wash makes me think of Mountain Dew's exclusive soft drink to U.S Taco Bells called "Baja Blast", well maybe not entirely, but you get the point.

 

I like that Softsoap offers their body wash in a whopping 532ml bottle compare to some other brands.

 

I think I got this on SALE at Shoppers Drug Mart for $2.99, I think the regular price is about $5.99

 

 

OLAY ULTRA MOISTURE VANILLA INDULGENCE

 

I just happened to notice this as I was scouring the body wash shelves at Shoppers Drug Mart. When I saw that the ultra moisture body wash was on sale I had to get some. I find this to be one of the BEST moisturizing body washes out there. However to my surprise I did not realize it had the most decadent vanilla smell which I can not get enough of. So I ended up buying two.

 

 

So in every bottle of this body wash there is 1 jar of moisturizer which really packs a punch for hydration to your skin.

 

and Olay's promise is that "with on going use you will notice an improvement to the condition of your skin."

1use- Will visibly condition the skin

1 week- Moisturize the skin to be lush and nourished

1 bottle- Makes skin healthy looking and provides long lasting moisture

and lets not forget the incredible smell of Vanilla that seems to last long after your shower.

I have noticed my skin feeling quite soft lately, which is a big plus for those summer months out in the sun.

 

One bottle of Olay bodywash is 354ml and was on SALE for $2.99 which is excellent considering it is normally $6.99. So when you see it on sale, stock up while it's cheap.

 

 

 

LEVER 2000 POMEGRANATE & COCONUT WATER 4PK OF BAR SOAP

 

I do like this soap, but I find you don't really smell the coconut water it may just be the benefits it offers to your skin as to why it is in their. However upon opening one of the boxes you will notice a strong blast of pomegranate scent that is tangy and fruity.



 

 Beware to avoid using it around your intimate parts. I noticed that even though it does make you feel extremely clean it tends to have a something in it that upsets the PH in your more sensitive areas and it actually feels a bit sore. I for one just might have more sensitive skin then other's, but if you notice the same thing don't wash in those areas with it, use something else.

Like I said though it does give a very good clean feeling that I absolutely love. Lever 2000 states that there soap is refreshing, replenishing and clean rinsing.

DIAL NATURALS TANGERINE & GUAVA

It is amazing how many people don't realize that something as simple as hand washing can be a huge culprit for allergic reaction. I have used so many different hand soaps over my lifetime and no two are created equal.
I find the worse experiences I have had with soap is some that I have purchased from Dollarama. Some have such harsh ingredients that my entire family have developed rashes on their hands just from the cheap ingredients allowed to be in some soaps.

Dial Naturals are 94% Natural Origin, with no dyes and are hypoallergenic. This has been an excellent choice for our family and no one is getting a rash. Also the tangerine & guava is a great combination of scents and just gives that nice gentle clean smell. I also like that I do not see any paraben's listed in the ingredients which is another plus.

 

 

So if you to are on the hunt for a more natural hand soap option for your family do give Dial Naturals a try.

Lastly for today is the new

LYSOL FOAM ANTIBACTERIAL HAND WASH (WILD BERRY BLISS)

I admit I buy a lot of hand soap and I don't really think I needed to buy this as I am not a fan of foam soap because I find it doesn't last as long. However I have family members that enjoy berry scented soaps so that's why I got it, and I wanted to use up a coupon I had as well.

 

This foam soap does give a good overall lather and smells yummy.
Lysol's new foam hand soap promises to be gentle enough for everyday use, moisturizing, drip free foam, Triclosan free.
Which for those of you that don't know Triclosan used as an antibacterial in many household products is actually quite unhealthy over prolonged use. It is suspected of interfering with hormone function. Sadly many of our favorite brands have this potentially hazardous ingredient in it. So do take care when purchasing products the whole family will be using.

VICHY NORMADERM TRI-ACTIV MASK

So I received a sample size packet of the Vichy Normaderm tri-active mask and thought I would give it a go. The sample pack was large enough to do two separate applications which I spaced out over a three day period. 

The whole purpose of this mask is to purify, exfoliate and mattify the skin. This product is suitable for sensitive skin and is paraben, soap and alcohol free. Most of Vichy products are created with a mineral rich thermal water, which helps bring a natural balance back to the skin.

Upon first application I did notice a tingling sensation which I love, it makes me feel it's really doing something like hammering the dirt and impurities out of my pores. It has a nice clean fresh scent, but products intended for sensitive or acne prone skin should never actually have fragrance as this can be counterintuitive. There are also micro exfoliating beads to take off dead skin cells and help replenish the skin that has become dull.

So you basically apply the mask all over, avoiding the eye area and leave on for about 5-10 minutes. Rinse with cool water

I know! sexy right??? NOT;p

You will notice as the mask dries it kind of hardens, but comes off easily when ready to rinse. My face after immediately felt tighter and very clean. Also by the next morning a blemish I had near my eyebrow had shrunk significantly and seemed to be on the mend.

I then did the second application a couple of days later and noticed that my skin was looking better and seeming less stressed as it had been quite irritated as of late. This mask is what my face was needing to get it back in line. I actually was disappointed that I did not have anymore. I have a coupon for this product so I think I may buy the full size in the near future.

The price of the Tri-Activ mask I believe is between $22-25 and comes in 125ml tube

NEW REVLON COLOURS-SUPER LUSTROUS LIPSTICK & GLOSSES

I admit I have not used Revlon lip colours of any kind in a very long time. So I thought since they brought out about a dozen each of new glosses and lipstick it was time to reacquaint myself.

So I bought the super lustrous lipstick in the colour LOVER'S CORAL which is a beautiful colour for summer and sure to be a hot seller this season. It adds a nice creamy smooth wash of colour but it's not to super bright which may help to open up the age ratio because some older women may not want to wear something quite as daring as say Maybelline's "PINK POP."
I like this because it's staying true to the orange and coral family of colours, but is just the right amount of sexy colour.

 

EXCUSE THE DUCK LIPS ;)

 

They only thing I find is that because it has a very slippery feel it tends to come off fairly quick if your eating or drinking anything, however I don't mind reapplying. My biggest complaint with a lot of lipsticks now a days is the price I have a really hard time paying out $10 or more for lipsticks or any products for that matter. I know we have to evolve with the times and costs go up, but really $10. I am astounded when I see people willing paying $20-50 for a cosmetic product, YIKES! especially when I know how much those products actually cost to manufacture and how horrible the Canadian mark up is.

 

Moving along I also bought two of the Super Lustrous Glosses, my picks were SUGAR VIOLET & PINK POP which are both lovely colours, but originally when I bought them I thought I was totally going to be loving the sugar violet and that has not been the case. I actually have fallen in love with the pink pop. Here it is such a nice juicy watermelon colour for the lips

 

 

This colour is so nice and glossy and this tends to be more a cream finish where as the sugar violet has a sparkle in it.

 

I find with "Sugar Violet" that it wears very sheer and not as intense as it would seem in the tube. However pink pop because it's a cream you can build up the colour better.

 

So here is sugar violet

 

I don't know what it is every time I use a gloss with sparkle when I first apply it my lips feel really funny like they are slightly burning, but then it's gone with in a minute or so!?!? Anyone else ever notice this? do leave a comment below, also tell me what your favorite lip glosses are.

 

I do like all the products mentioned here for different reasons and find them to be quality purchases. Long ago my go to favorite lipstick in high school was the coveted Revlon TOAST OF NEW YORK which was one of the best selling lipsticks amongst us teen girls in the 90's. It obviously has stood the test of time because it's still on the shelf today.

 

So the glosses and lipsticks are about the same price depending on where you shop. They are approx. $10. I don't know if all the colours being offered will remain a part of Revlon's permanent collection. So don't delay get yours today.

MAYBELLINE PURE PIGMENTS ***NEW***

HI TO ALL,


Today I am very excited to share with you the most beautiful  and most anticipated products I have come across since I started blogging three months ago. I purchased the items myself I am about to show you and I am not being paid for my views or opinions, they are truly my own, so enjoy.

Maybelline all I can say is bravo, these new PURE PIGMENTS are absolutely stunning, totally out of this world and worth every nickel (since pennies are obsolete;).)

Before we start I want to add I bought 8 of the 9 colours and will be doing a 2 part review as to cover all 8 in one review is far to long and you'll enjoy coming back in anticipation of the last 4;)

So lets have a look and enjoy the rich experience with these fine gems.

The first colour is 25 WILD GOLD. This is truly a bold bright yellow gold that will look as though you have applied real gold leaf to the eyes. Not that this colour needs any help being amped up, but to help the colour pack on and stay use the color tattoo 24hr eyeshadow in 45 BOLD GOLD, what a beautiful partnership.

 So this photo was taken near a regular table lamp no special camera work or lighting, so that should speak for it self about the insanity of these pigments. This colour surely would be a favorite of Cleopatra if she still lived today I am certain.

Then we have 10 BRASH BLUE and yes this blue is very self assertive if you didn't notice from the picture.

You better watch out Mimi from Drew Carey because your blue shadow don't have anything on me and my brash blue lol.

Next up is 20 PINK REBEL this pink has a duochrome finish that reflects a light purple/violet iridescence and for you gal's out there that love your pinks then do not miss this.

PINK REBEL is truly a pigment of beauty reminiscent of Memphis pink roses and can truly hold its own or be worn with "inked in pink" as its companion base.

The last colour for part 1 of this PURE PIGMENT segment is the colour 45 DOWNTOWN BROWN. Now don't get me wrong as I said at the start I love these pigments, but out of them all this is probably my least favorite. I am more for the extreme and bold, but this will actually be a great colour for everyday use to accent any neutral look to just add a hit of shimmer and pizazz.

This particular colour actually reminds me a lot of Mac's "TEMPTING" lustre from the previous style warriors collection. It's not exact, but close. So if that's a colour from Mac that you loved and miss then pick up this pure pigment by Maybelline.

So in closing a couple of points I would like to make. If you want your pigments to last always try to prime your eye before application be it NYX jumbo pencil in Milk, Avon eyeshadow primer or higher end products like too faced shadow insurance. BUYER BEWARE the BLUE does actually stain and you need to wash the area at least 3 times for it to be gone, just as a heads up so you are not alarmed if you use it. Again these pigments are extremely intense saturated colours and are on the higher end of the dramatic scale, but certain colours can be sheered out and toned down for everyday use.

I truly hope Maybelline has plans for many more colour offerings to come. I would love to see a true red like a "fire engine" and that would be a fun name for it as well. So Maybelline if you read this and  like the name and the idea you need to give credit where credit is due.

The only colour I did not purchase was the black with shimmer particles because I don't feel for me that would be used quickly enough, it is pretty as I have seen it in person. I look forward to seeing how others in the Internet world will utilize that pigment for various looks.

The pure pigments are currently available in Canadian stores like Walmart and Shopper's Drug Mart.

This week in the Canadian Walmart flyer you can get the pigments for $5.97 WOW great deal as they will be around $8-10 other wise depending on where you shop for your eye candy.

The pigments come in a round small plastic jar inside they do come with a sifter insert for those who love that instead of it just open to dip your brush in. Each pigment is 1.5g which doesn't seem much, but I seriously can tell you all you need is merely a pinch like pepper to get the full effect. These will last a long time, especially if you choose to get all the colours as I did.
