NO BUY NOVEMBER PART4 BEAUTY PRODUCTS (ANYTHING)

Hi everyone,

So here in the GTA we have finally been hit with are first snow fall of the year which occurred Saturday November 23 and continued well into the night leaving us with just under a foot of snow and plunging temperatures feeling like -20 with the wind chill. I will be putting my winter boots to good use this week.
Speaking of which this is it the last week of "NO BUY" November and we have successfully made it unscathed, at least I know I have:) As I mentioned previously I found this a pretty easy challenge and would gladly do another one again in the future.

This last week we are able to just randomly share whatever items we have found in our stash that have become new and interesting all over again. I have 5 items to share all focusing on different areas, which I thought would round out the final week nicely.

 First up is:

ALBA BONTANICA ACNEDOTE FACE WASH- Truthfully when I first got this I really wasn't sure how I felt about it. I used it for a few weeks and I did not see a real difference if I had a small breakout etc. I decided to shelf it and come back to it at a later time. Now this past week I found myself grab for it and use it a couple of times again. I have no clue what is going on, but I keep getting pimples on my nose which seldom happened before and now it seems as of late every time I wake up there is something there. I don't know if it's a product I am using, maybe it could even be this particular face wash.?!?!?!? I am at a loss. However I did give it another fair chance, but I think this will be put to the back of the closet yet again. ACNEdote is a natural face wash with willow bark which for those that don't know has naturally occurring salicylic acid. I feel the peppermint oil is actually what is over stimulating my face and making me break out. You get 177ml for about $15

So all though rediscovered not my favourite choice for the month.

MILANI CRYSTAL GLOSS- SUMMER BABY
When this gloss first released it was considered a very good dupe for Mac's Nymphette tinted lipglass. I would have to agree based on the photo's I have seen of both swatches. However what a huge price difference Mac is $18 here in Canada and the Milani gloss is only $5. I love the smell, price, wear time and portable size of the tube of the Milani gloss and glad I picked one up and you should too:)

SPARITUAL LACQUER- SUN SALUTATION
For anyone who is new to my blog I am a huge fan of SpaRitual nail polish and think it's worth every penny and highly recommend this line if you are looking for beautiful, unique, vegan, earth friendly products. The pictures I take of this polish never ever do it justice, it is so much more beautiful in person and I suggest checking it out if you ever spot it at a store. It truly is the most amazing rose gold I have ever seen (no joke) and it lasts for days. SpaRitual polishes are 15ml bottles and cost about $13.

I have several polishes from SpaRitual and they are all my favourites in my entire collection of polishes which is currently sitting at 75.

L'OREAL LIMITED EDITION CANNES QUAD- COPPER COCKTAIL
I got this quad back in the summer and it got stuffed to the back of my eyeshadow drawer and I happened upon it and was wowed by its beauty all over again. I love strong metal shades that leave that foil type finish behind. I think there is nothing more pretty and definitely makes the eyes pop.
My only complaint with this quad is even though the lay out looks modern and geometric it is flawed because you need to be very careful when trying to pick up just one colour on your brush.
Also there is not much product, I imagine if I used it everyday it would be gone in no time. It was $12 which is also quite high for what it is. They are nicely pigmented and blend out well.

There are other quads out there with similar colours. Unfortunately this can no longer be picked up because it was limited edition, but you might find one floating around on Ebay if you really must have this one.

PINK SUGAR PERFUME BY AQUOLINA

Over the month of October I started experimenting wearing warm spicy fragrance, but have gradually headed back to my favorites which are "gourmand" type scents. Not saying I don't like the spicy scents I just prefer the sweeter tones especially now that I am in full on Holiday/Christmas mode. So with that I pulled out my bottle of "PINK SUGAR" and I have been loving it once again. So yummy it truly is like sweet candy in a bottle. I love that its a mix of vanilla, caramel, fig, cotton candy and a nice musky base and also sweet berries mingling in there to. There is a lot going on with this perfume, but it some how all seamlessly works together for a truly sugar-tastic experience. I got a 50ml bottle on sale at Shoppers Drug Mart for $20 which is an excellent deal as it retails at Sephora for $45.

SO THAT CONCLUDES THE NO BUY NOVEMBER SERIES AND I HOPE YOU ENJOYED EVERY THING I FEATURED OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS. ONLY 6 DAYS TO GO AND THEN I AM GOING SHOPPING LOL;D

DID YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE THAT WAS FEATURED IN MY "NO BUY NOVEMBER" POSTS???

THANKS SO MUCH FOR READING HERE AT MAKEUP'ASYLUM

SPARITUAL NAIL POLISHES

Hi everyone,

These nail polishes were purchased on-line from Spa Boutique, but due to my personally bad experience with the company I don't imagine I will be ordering from Spa Boutique again.

Any way moving along with the polishes. I have mentioned in past posts that I love SpaRitual polishes they usually meet or exceed my expectations. Out of the four colours I did receive there is only one that I regret purchasing as it looks very similar to something I already have and doesn't have amazing wow factor for me personally. However it was a mini so no big loss.

That colour is CLARITY which is a pretty diamond glitter that is a clear base with a ton of rose gold pink glitter in it. Its nice and will be good over top other colours in my collection, but I don't love it. Mini 5ml

The next colour is RUNNING WITH WOLVES. This is a really beautiful colour, it makes me think of the fall when the leaves are crisp and brown. This colour seems a little more mature then the glitter and has a shimmer finish or metallic.

I just love the way this photographs as well, such a warm colour that actually is very wearable year round as it does seem like a summer bronze to. Mini 5ml

The next two colours are part of SpaRituals limited edition collection called LAUGH for 2013 is anything short of awesome. The first colour I picked from this collection is
BURST
This is a pink gel base with fine deep pink glitter and large red glitter lacing together and it almost reminds me of those strawberry marshmallow candies or some delicious fruity dessert.

This was actually only one coat, I can only imagine how much richer this will get if you add another coat or two.

The last one is also from the LAUGH collection and is by far my absolute fave of the 4 I was able to get. This is OUT LOUD

This is a aqua gel base with fine blue glitter mixed with large greenish/blue iridescent large glitter. The first thing that comes to mind with this polish is obviously the ocean, but equally the mystical scales of a mermaid. I think it's like a throw back to the 80's for me because one of my favorite toys for bath time was the "Sweet Sea Doll" which had an aqua shimmer coloured tail.
I really like the depth this nail polish creates as if you could reach into the nail and you'd be touching water perhaps.

I highly recommend SpaRitual polishes. They have great wear time and even though the collections they bring out are small, the colours are always unique and amazing. SpaRitual polishes are three free, vegan and cruelty free. SpaRitual works on the principal of a slow process in a fast paced world, which I for one truly appreciate. QUALITY OVER QUANTITY.

mini 5ml bottles were $7
regular 15ml were $13.50

You can view SpaRitual products on line at

If you live in Canada you can order SpaRitual polishes from

spend $25 or more and shipping is free within Canada, or if your order is less the fee is a flat rate of only $3.

Thanks for reading and be sure your nails....

SEPHORA+ PANTONE METALLICS PALETTE, OPI, SPARITUAL NAIL POLISH

So today's products are items I purchased as part of my Mother's Day shopping spree.

I went in to Sephora with the intent on purchasing the Sephora MoonBaked palette called IN THE NUDE.

However you can plan all you want you know when you set foot in a store like Sephora that goes right out the window. I do still plan to purchase this at a later time because the colours are beautiful and the colour payoff is amazing. I tried it out in the store and to me even though its a fairly small palette it's well worth $31.
There are two other palettes in this line called "In the Night" and "In the dark" which are also extremely nice but a lot richer darker tones, but I may have to sneak those into my purchase as well.

So moving on the sales girl decided to show me a palette that was on sale. I would have never noticed it based on it's placement on the sales floor, but I am glad she pointed it out. This palette is beyond awesome it is Sephora's collaboration with Pantone Universe and its called  PRECIOUS METALS SHADOW PALETTE. This palette includes 35 eye shadow shades inspired by Pantone’s 2013 Plus Series Metallic Book which is on sale on the Pantone site for $79. This special edition palette was released for Holiday 2012.

From left: Chestnut, Rawhide, Brushed Nickel & Purple Gumdrop

If you want a great starting point for a neutral palette this would be it. There is a lot to choose from and a good range of finishes for every taste. The packaging is sleek and about the size of a ipad. Every colour has it's own name unlike previous releases from Sephora which were only number's. There is a list of the colours on the bottom of the palette as well as on the back of the box it comes in. Three things I really like about the palette packaging is the brushed bronze lid which no finger prints show on it, it magnetically closes and has a huge mirror the same size as the palette itself. It's like a portable makeup station on the go.
I swatched a few of the colours so you can all see the incredible colour payoff. The colours apply velvety smooth and seem to be very buildable and blendable and that's all pluses in my books.
The other thing that is a bonus is knowing that this palette was manufactured here in Canada so I am confident quality control is at its best.
Amazingly I got this palette which again offers up 35 gorgeous colours for $33 that's a total of 41.67g of eyeshadow goodness.

I also purchased two nail polishes the first is Sephora by Opi and the colour is called S-AGE IS JUST A NUMBER this colour is duochrome and a appears green and flashes gold in the light. This reminds me a lot of the new Revlon Chroma Chameleon polishes in the colour "Gold."However  I love opi and the great colours they offer so I prefer to stick with what I love. 15ml/.5fl oz for $12.00

The other polish is by SpaRitual and its a stunning rose gold shimmer called SUN SALUTATION. Now that summer is close at hand I am in full gear for buying golds, bronze, copper and anything else that makes for a total golden glow.

Also as per the Sephora's website these are the multi benefits to using SpaRitual polishes as well

"SpaRitual lacquers are vegan and free of toluene, fomaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, and DBP. SpaRitual does not test on animals or use animal by-products in any formulations."

So that being said I don't mind paying $12.50 for a harmless product. There are 30 colours on Sephora's website for this line, however there are only about 10 to choose from at the location I went to. SpaRitual doesn't have a huge range but what they do offer is a feast for the eye's and nails and I look forward to trying more from them. To me they offer the ultimate in sexy for nails.

I have really fallen in love with bright orange this year and this next item is part of Sephora's private label it's one of their Ultra Shine glosses in the colour GOLDEN EMBRACE.

This is actually my first time purchasing from the Sephora line and I have to admit I am pretty impressed, they have a lot under their belt in terms of product and color range. There quality seems very good and on par with other brands and there packaging is quality. This lip gloss tube is a very solid acrylic with a simple but pleasing design element. I love that you can get a good clear view of the product in the tube and there is no guessing game. The applicator is a flexible flat tip and gives fast full coverage.
There is .118fl oz/3.5ml of product and the regular price in this line is $18 Cad, but I scored this one for $3.

Sephora is by far one of my favorite stores and the staff are very helpful.
They also offer a points program which is a delight for regular makeup shoppers. They also have one of the most extensive perfume/cologne lines I have ever seen under one roof.

Stop by a Sephora near you or shop on line now at

Once again thanks for reading and come by often to MakeUp'Asylum
