LIEBSTER AWARD

Hello blogger beauties,

I am grateful to have been nominated for the Liebster award by Chelsey from The Creative Belle Thank you its much appreciated. If you don't know what this award is about, it was created to support beginning bloggers & give them the credit and recognition they deserve. I am happy to take part and reach out to other bloggers I feel need to be seen and heard from more often.

Rules
1. Give credit to who nominated you.
2. Answer the questions they gave you.
3. Nominate 9 bloggers who have 200 followers or less.
4. Come up with your own 11 questions for them.
5. Let them know you nominated them.

Now here are the Q & A's from Miss Chelsey

1. What is your favorite thing about blogging?
Meeting new people, I seem to do better at socializing on line, rather then in person.

2. Why did you start your blog?
To be able to talk about something that I was passionate about which is the cosmetic industry, and also give me something that was just for me outside of my other responsibilities.

3. Who are some of your favorite bloggers?
I really like Bellyhead over at Wondegondigo her writing style really pulls me in, she doesn't even need to talk about makeup, it can be anything. I would love to see her write a book one day. However the makeup items she does review are often highend and simply gorgeous. I think I like to live vicariously through Bellyheads makeup obsession because its things that I am not in a position to buy, but I still want to experience the moment of beauty right along with her.

Liz from My Pretty Obsessions The items that Liz does review are quality and she offers very clear concise opinions about those products which will either lead you to purchase or at least consider doing so.

20/30 Glam, This duo does YouTube and a blog and I like that they keep it real there is no B.S. with these two, what ya see is what ya get. I like their budget friendly purchases and they just are genuinely nice gals. Don't forget to see Julie's adorable Dax its her fur baby and he is the sweetest little smidge.

Leigh-Ann over at Blushing Beauty is a blogger who offers up Diy's, makeup looks, monthly favourites, product reviews and much more and has a unique approach to beauty. Also she has a separate passion which is making beautiful cards for all occasions. I was fortunate enough to receive one from her for Christmas and I feel she has a real eye for this craft.

Shalunya at Shalunya & Boyet is a fierce shopper who will keep you in the loop for awesome deals she scores and providing reviews that are clear and easy to understand and she doesn't cut any corners. She also provides other bloggers with helpful information on how to build a better blog and getting it working to its full potential.

4. Favorite color?
Army Green and black:/

5. Would you rather be able to sing or be able to dance?
Lucky for me I can do both, but if I only could choose one it would be dancing, that was a passion of mine for many years till I had a terrible accident that almost cost me my life, so my dancing got taken off track.

6. Favorite type of music, & why?
I am a very lyrical person, yes I like good beats for dancing, but if I am just sitting around I like songs that are thought provoking. I tend to like the underdog music.

7. Who is your inspiration?
My son is my inspiration because he allows me to just be myself and he challenges me on a daily basis to look at things differently. I am a better version of me now that I have him

8. Favorite makeup item, & why?
My physicians formula bb cream because without that there is nothing

9. Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter?
Fall- I prefer the cooler weather (NOT FREEZING) and I like that I can wear a light jacket and feel cozy. Also all the themes to do with Fall are my favourites. Baking, smells, sights, the works.

10. Best vacation?
Bahahaha vacation what is that???? Do you catch my drift!
11. What is your favorite quote?
"You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life." -Winston Churchill

Now on to my nominees!

4. Shalunya Shalunya & Boyet

5. Julie & Ashley 20/30 Glam

7. Meaghan XOXO Meaghan

BEAUTY CROWN 2013 WEEK#2 FACE MAKEUP PRODUCTS

The Beauty Crown Awards are a yearly favorites collaborative effort including beauty bloggers around the globe. The Beauty Crown Awards were created by Lily from Beauty with Lily Liz from My Pretty Obsessions, Jackie from Five Two Certified, and Shalunya from Shalunya & Boyet. We felt that a collaborative effort from a large number of beauty bloggers would be much more interesting to our readers and would garner more attention. The Beauty Crown Awards are a 5 week event with each week covering types of products.

Week 1 - Personal Care Products - Dec 2 - Dec 8, 2013
Week 2 - Facial Products - Dec 9 - Dec 15, 2013
Week 3 - Lip & Nail Products - Dec 16 - Dec 22, 2013
Week 4 - Eye & Misc Products - Dec 23 - Dec 29, 2013
Week 5 - Facial Care Products & Tools - Dec 30 - Jan 4, 2014

So lets go a head and take a look at my week two favorites for "FACIAL MAKEUP PRODUCTS", hope you too will try something I recommend and don't forget to follow Makeup'Asylum's blog and find me on Twitter @BonCoconutty and on Instagram at NEWMAKEUPASYLUM.

PHYSICIANS FORMULA SUPER BB CREAM IN LIGHT/MEDIUM
This bb cream matches my skin perfectly and wears excellent all day long and does not irritate my skin at all and provides adequate coverage for redness, scaring and any small spots.

ANNA SUI MOISTURE RICH FLUID FOUNDATION P05
This foundation gives a beautiful dewy finish to the skin and makes for quite a flawless finish. I wasn't sure this would be good for my oily skin, but it has worked out well, especially in the dry cold weather. The only thing I am not a fan of is the "ROSE" scent, but I can deal with it.

MISSHA M SIGNATURE REAL COMPLETE BLENDING PRIMER
I only have two face primers and this would be my first choice out of the two. It is very light weight and your skin really drinks it up and leaves a smooth velvety surface prior to foundation application. It has an iridescent finish that makes the skin more luminous. It is quite fragrant, but the smell is decent.

NYC SMOOTH SKIN LIQUID CONCEALER
This concealer is creamy without being to thick and is totally inexpensive which is a plus. It is very light and does a decent job around the eyes, I wouldn't advise this for those with very dark circles as it only mildly covers it. I find this concealer better for smoothing the eyelid skin and spot treatment for red pimples.

PHYSICIANS FORMULA MINERAL WEAR TALC-FREE AIRBRUSHING PRESSED POWDER SPF 30 IN BEIGE
I use this pressed powder every day as part of my daily routine, sometimes I even apply this without anything else and call it a day. Its very good for absorbing oil and giving a very flawless finish hence being called "airbrushing". I have other pressed powders as back ups, but this is my fave hands down

PHYSICIANS FORMULA MINERAL GLOW PEARLS IN TRANSLUCENT PEARL
I have been on the hunt for a nice highlighter and decided to give this one a try since everything else from PF has never let me down. I am glad I did get this, again I use it every day and it just gives the most perfect subtle glow on the tops of the cheek bone without your skin starting to look plastic.
I also like that all PF compacts come with a mirror and small brush in a separate compartment underneath the product itself. I highly recommend trying something from PF I don't believe you will be disappointed, especially if you have very sensitive skin like I do.

PHYSICIANS FORMULA BRONZE BOOSTER AIRBRUSHING BRONZING VEIL DELUXE EDITION IN MEDIUM/DARK
I would think at this point in the season of winter I would not still be using this, but its the best bronzer that I can use year round. As long as I use it sparingly I can just give my skin a nice bit of a Sunkist glow like I have been out on the ski slopes. Love the finish, does not make the skin to crazy with shimmer

I also wanted to share my fave bronzer I use only in the summer when my skin is darker which is

COVERGIRL TRUBLEND MINERAL BRONZER IN 435 GOLDEN SUNRISE
This is a loose mineral bronzer, that has to be used with a gentle hand. However it is very rich and deep like you have been laid out at the beach for hours, just beware it does have micro fine glitter and if used to much can be quite noticeable. Blends into the skin really nicely. Also if you sweat I have not noticed any issues with streaking which can occur with fake tan or bronzer products.

LAST up

MAYBELLINE DREAM BOUNCY BLUSH IN 50 PLUM WINE
I am generally not much of a blush wearer as you will learn in an upcoming post on my blog, but I think I have found one I am finally happy with. I really like this concept of a cream to powder type product for blush. I feel this applies well, a little goes along way and gives a gorgeous natural flushed finish. This is one of the darkest shade offerings so you don't have to go bonkers with it. This product will be especially good for those who want to wear blush, but tend to have dry cheek patches because it has a creamy consistency as appose to powder adhering to dry spots on the cheeks.

As you can see my main love affair for face makeup products is Physicians Formula and I can not say enough good things about their products. I am so looking forward to a dozen new items due for release in 2014.

HOPE YOU ALL ENJOYED MY CHOICES AND COME BACK SOON FOR MORE FROM MAKEUP'ASYLUM

FIRST IMPRESSIONS ON MAKE UP FOR EVER GLITTER AND AQUA CREAM

Good day to all,

So first I want to start by saying thank you ever so much to MAKE UP FOR EVER CAD for sending these two products to me. Regardless if the products were sent to me for consideration my thoughts and opinions still remain my own. So far what I can say is the items that have been sent to me in the past from Make Up For Ever are all great items and I try to use them as often as I can especially the makeup brush I received.

Moving on this is not an indepth review this is just more or less a "Show & Tell" because I have not had a chance to really work with the products, but I will be so stay tuned for that;)

The first product is the ever popular AQUA CREAM in #3 SILVER

Here is the info from the box

HERE ARE SOME VARIOUS SHOTS OF THE PRODUCT IN LOW LIGHT AND DIRECT LIGHT

AND YES IT REALLY DOES HOLD TRUE, IT IS WATERPROOF

AQUA CREAM #3 SILVER $28 CAD

I think this product will be a lot of fun to work with because you can use it for a sexy holiday look, but you can also use this product very creatively. I love that you can apply it to the eyes, cheeks and lips. Based on a quick test on my hand it applies creamy, but sets to a more powder finish that adheres to the skin well and it can be built up with big impact or just a touch blended out will leave a silver glow without being to overpowering. It does not feel tacky, its actually very smooth.

Last item is from the new LIMITED EDITION collection called MIDNIGHT GLOW HOLIDAY. This is a glitter in the colour GUNMETAL. These are graded round glitter particles that can easily and safely be used for your hair, face and body. If used correctly and sparingly you can really create some beautiful nighttime holiday looks that will make you sparkle like the winter night sky. The glitter is a mix of black, rich blue and gold pieces. A very alluring combination.

GUNMETAL 4G FOR $20 CAD

It will be interesting to see how these glitters deliver and how they stay on overall using a tacky base first of course;)

and there you have it, some more lovely products to consider for your Christmas wish list OR for the makeup lover in your life, but keep in mind this glitter is Limited Edition.

BOTH ITEMS ARE AVAILABLE NOW AT SEPHORA.CA OR MAKE UP FOR EVER BOUTIQUES

LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS IF YOU HAVE TRIED THE AQUA CREAMS, ALSO IF YOU HAVE SEEN THE ENTIRE MIDNIGHT GLOW COLLECTION???

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY

NO BUY NOVEMBER PART4 BEAUTY PRODUCTS (ANYTHING)

Hi everyone,

So here in the GTA we have finally been hit with are first snow fall of the year which occurred Saturday November 23 and continued well into the night leaving us with just under a foot of snow and plunging temperatures feeling like -20 with the wind chill. I will be putting my winter boots to good use this week.
Speaking of which this is it the last week of "NO BUY" November and we have successfully made it unscathed, at least I know I have:) As I mentioned previously I found this a pretty easy challenge and would gladly do another one again in the future.

This last week we are able to just randomly share whatever items we have found in our stash that have become new and interesting all over again. I have 5 items to share all focusing on different areas, which I thought would round out the final week nicely.

 First up is:

ALBA BONTANICA ACNEDOTE FACE WASH- Truthfully when I first got this I really wasn't sure how I felt about it. I used it for a few weeks and I did not see a real difference if I had a small breakout etc. I decided to shelf it and come back to it at a later time. Now this past week I found myself grab for it and use it a couple of times again. I have no clue what is going on, but I keep getting pimples on my nose which seldom happened before and now it seems as of late every time I wake up there is something there. I don't know if it's a product I am using, maybe it could even be this particular face wash.?!?!?!? I am at a loss. However I did give it another fair chance, but I think this will be put to the back of the closet yet again. ACNEdote is a natural face wash with willow bark which for those that don't know has naturally occurring salicylic acid. I feel the peppermint oil is actually what is over stimulating my face and making me break out. You get 177ml for about $15

So all though rediscovered not my favourite choice for the month.

MILANI CRYSTAL GLOSS- SUMMER BABY
When this gloss first released it was considered a very good dupe for Mac's Nymphette tinted lipglass. I would have to agree based on the photo's I have seen of both swatches. However what a huge price difference Mac is $18 here in Canada and the Milani gloss is only $5. I love the smell, price, wear time and portable size of the tube of the Milani gloss and glad I picked one up and you should too:)

SPARITUAL LACQUER- SUN SALUTATION
For anyone who is new to my blog I am a huge fan of SpaRitual nail polish and think it's worth every penny and highly recommend this line if you are looking for beautiful, unique, vegan, earth friendly products. The pictures I take of this polish never ever do it justice, it is so much more beautiful in person and I suggest checking it out if you ever spot it at a store. It truly is the most amazing rose gold I have ever seen (no joke) and it lasts for days. SpaRitual polishes are 15ml bottles and cost about $13.

I have several polishes from SpaRitual and they are all my favourites in my entire collection of polishes which is currently sitting at 75.

L'OREAL LIMITED EDITION CANNES QUAD- COPPER COCKTAIL
I got this quad back in the summer and it got stuffed to the back of my eyeshadow drawer and I happened upon it and was wowed by its beauty all over again. I love strong metal shades that leave that foil type finish behind. I think there is nothing more pretty and definitely makes the eyes pop.
My only complaint with this quad is even though the lay out looks modern and geometric it is flawed because you need to be very careful when trying to pick up just one colour on your brush.
Also there is not much product, I imagine if I used it everyday it would be gone in no time. It was $12 which is also quite high for what it is. They are nicely pigmented and blend out well.

There are other quads out there with similar colours. Unfortunately this can no longer be picked up because it was limited edition, but you might find one floating around on Ebay if you really must have this one.

PINK SUGAR PERFUME BY AQUOLINA

Over the month of October I started experimenting wearing warm spicy fragrance, but have gradually headed back to my favorites which are "gourmand" type scents. Not saying I don't like the spicy scents I just prefer the sweeter tones especially now that I am in full on Holiday/Christmas mode. So with that I pulled out my bottle of "PINK SUGAR" and I have been loving it once again. So yummy it truly is like sweet candy in a bottle. I love that its a mix of vanilla, caramel, fig, cotton candy and a nice musky base and also sweet berries mingling in there to. There is a lot going on with this perfume, but it some how all seamlessly works together for a truly sugar-tastic experience. I got a 50ml bottle on sale at Shoppers Drug Mart for $20 which is an excellent deal as it retails at Sephora for $45.

SO THAT CONCLUDES THE NO BUY NOVEMBER SERIES AND I HOPE YOU ENJOYED EVERY THING I FEATURED OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS. ONLY 6 DAYS TO GO AND THEN I AM GOING SHOPPING LOL;D

DID YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE THAT WAS FEATURED IN MY "NO BUY NOVEMBER" POSTS???

THANKS SO MUCH FOR READING HERE AT MAKEUP'ASYLUM

THE TRUE ICONS OF COLOUR WET N WILD EYESHADOW TRIO'S PART 1

Hi everyone,

So this will be part 1 of 2 of my Wet N Wild ColorIcon trio's review. I have been on the hunt for these eyeshadows for a long time, I finally have not 1 but 7 different trio's to share over the course of two parts. I will be showing you the bolder colored ones and the second part will be the more neutral everyday wearable shadows.

The first trio is called COOL AS A CUCUMBER- This trio features a satin pistachio green, a beautiful plum purple and a gorgeous metallic forest green. I feel that this trio exudes the feeling of fall in all it's rich colour and splendor.

The next trio is called ON CLOUD NINE This trio reminds me of denim and brown leather personally. None the less it's colours are so sexy. The light frosted blue makes me think Levi's denim shirt, the deep brown like cowboy boots and cigars and the true blue at the bottom like that favourite pair of blue jeans will add a high impact look to those peepers. Also brown and blue are so complimentary to each other I think this trio is a perfect match.

Then we have I DREAM OF GREENIE this is a really bold bright trio of greens that I wish I had around for summer. It makes me think honey dew melon and Margarita's. The top colour is a shimmery mint note, followed by an intense sea foam green and ends with a bright pop of Kiwi green. If your not a fan of green or screaming for attention type colours, then this is not for you. However maybe it's time to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.

Lastly is I'M GETTING SUNBURNED This trio starts with a delectable true shimmery pink, enhanced with a smoking fine glitter coffee brown and ends with an all out gold miners dream. All these colours work seamlessly together and will make for a super sassy statement on the eyes.   DARE TO BE DIFFERENT.

If you love playing with colour then I highly recommend Wet N Wild ColorIcon trio's & Palettes. I feel Wet N Wild's eyeshadow's are extremely pigmented, long wearing, blendable, but not to soft. They have little to no fall out depending on the colour and I feel are the very best shadows to buy at drug store or big box store level. Its a great option for those looking for budget friendly cosmetics, with a great range of colours for all taste preferences.

The trio's are 3.5g for only $2.80 CAD
the larger 8 colour palettes are 8.5g for $4.97 CAD available in 3 different colour choices

HOPE YOU FOUND A TRIO HERE TODAY THAT YOU LOVE AND WANT TO TRY. LET ME KNOW DOWN IN THE COMMENTS IF YOU HAVE ANY OF THE TRIO'S AND IF YOU LOVE THEM AS WELL OR SEE ONE YOU WANT TO TRY IN THIS REVIEW.

BE SURE TO HEAD ON OVER AND CHECK OUT

GIVE YOUR LIPS PERFECTION WITH COVER GIRL LIPSTICKS

WELCOME BACK LOVELIES

Today I will be sharing two Cover Girl lipsticks that I picked up. I must say it's been a very long time since I have used Cover Girl lipsticks. However I was noticing on the Well.Ca website that there is actually a lot of really great colours to be had in the "Lip Perfection" line. So I decided to grab a couple and get reacquainted with Cover Girl.

My first choice is

310 SMITTEN

This is a beautiful true plum colour with just a hint of purple undertone that again screams out "ITS FALL." I highly encourage you to check out these lipsticks because they also have some very odd muted purples that I normally wouldn't suspect Cover Girl to have.

L2R: SMITTEN & ROMANCE

Second choice is ROMANCE which I bought just because I love the colour not because I necessarily feel its fall appropriate, but you really can't go wrong with pinkish nudes. This one has a pretty pearl finish that is very reminiscent of champagne and can be used as a daily go to colour or pair it with a smokey eye for a night out.

The only downside is they don't have incredible staying power, which I find falls true with most pearl finishes across the brand board. They are however very nice and moisturising and even after the lipstick fades my lips feel pretty soft, which I really need help with.

DO YOU HAVE ANY FAVOURITE COVER GIRL PRODUCTS?? LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS,
ALSO DID YOU LIKE ONE OF THE LIPSTICKS YOU HAVE SEEN HERE TODAY??

I LOVE imPRESS PRESS ON MANICURE

Hello all,

So as of late even though I love nail polish I haven't been buying it much. I realized a lot of my polishes are just sitting there and not being used enough. I find with my lifestyle I don't have the time or patients to do my nails especially with a base coat, 2-3 coats of polish, top coat and maybe even the occasional design. Which those steps would be necessary for me just so the polish would stay in place longer then a day or two. That being said I think I may have found a happy in between for a person like me. That is the imPRESS press on nails which are part of the KISS product line.

I stumbled upon a great sale as these nails normally are $10 but select designs were on clearance for $3.50 at my local drugstore. So the first set I grabbed were these ones called HOLLA. They are a sexy satin pink with a boudoir style black lace overlay. I have gotten a lot of compliments on these ones.

Then my little man wanted to get his mama something for her birthday so here is the set he picked out for me, which I am loving.

Super fierce and fun and lots of great colour this set is called LIL DRUMR GRL

This cool black and white crackle finish has a fine glitter over lay that is less apparent in the picture. This set is called SPACE CADET. These are my most recent purchase, which I got them on clearance for $3.50 at Rexall

and lastly my husband actually spotted these next ones which I am super excited to put them on in the coming days. These are limited edition for Halloween and they are called WITCHY WOMAN, which suits me perfectly LOL;P

There were about 4 other Halloween designs and I would have liked to get them all, but at regular price of $10 that adds up quick. However if you think of going and getting your nails done here in Canada that runs between $35-50 depending on where you go, so buying all those nails actually is cheaper and more fun in the grand scheme of things.

So each set consists of 24 nails and are suppose to last about a week. However for me they do not, they tend to start popping off around the third day or sooner depending on my work load. Most often that dictates how long nails or nail polish lasts on me.
So my solution which is so simple is if you really love the nails and want to wear them longer just add a dab of nail glue such as this one (if a nail pops off) and press it back on.

Kiss maximum speed nail glue which you get 3g for $4 CAD It works excellent and bonds in 3 seconds

The designs do not show any sign of wear and tear and I wore the HOLLA set for two weeks. That's including washing dishes, doing laundry, cleaning bathrooms and playing outside with my child. So with this extra step you can totally prolong the wear time of these nails if you choose.

Also make sure to throw the nail glue and extra nails in your purse if you will be out all day in case you need to do a quick repair. I love the super cute idea of the clear nail polish bottle to hold the nails.

So to me this is a great option if you don't have time for polish and you want some cool designs on your nails and like to have the versatility and not be committed for as long like you would with acrylic nails.
Also acrylic nails are very damaging to the natural nail bed and because of the sanding they do to the nail surface your nail is now porous and prone to the potential for nail fungus, especially if the nail salon does not maintain sterile equipment which you can't tell just by looking.

Hope you enjoyed checking out these fun nails and maybe you too will find some designs that you love. They also offer basics like French manicure designs and solid colours too for those not interested in being so daring.

LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS IF YOU PLAN ON TRYING THESE OR IF YOU HAVE WHAT DESIGNS DO YOU LOVE???
